@Lonaargh, I'm with you on the scent. I also wonder what the lyrium ingestion does. Would he smell like it? Perhaps only when he sweats? Are there other ... side effects...? Ah, jeez. I must be jet lagged.
See ya all on the flip side!

I totally get not wanting to be forced into making religious decisions or dialogue choices - believe me - and I don't think David Gaider would ever force that on us. But if it comes to saving many innocent lives and finding out who's been speeding along the corruption of the Chantry and exposing them, I just don't think any of my characters would ever care very much who the world thought they were affiliated with.berelinde wrote...
Temporarily cooperate with? Sure. Lots of reasons for that, ranging from extortion to temporary insanity. Be a card-carrying member of? Absolutely not.brushyourteeth wrote...

That's the deciding factor.
Fixed religious affiliation = no sale
If it's legit, then I'm in for a disappointment and I will not be buying the next game. Another loyal BioWare fan alienated. No one will care, I know, but it's still sad.
If it isn't legit, I'll be pre-ordering, like always.
I just don't get this. You wouldn't even just temporarily cooperate with religious people in order to save the world?
That's insanity. I just will never understand that.
I do not want people throughout Thedas identifying my character as someone affiliated with the chantry. Why is that hard to understand?
I know you never played the Mass Effect games, but something similar happens - in ME2, Cerberus contracts you to help save multiple galaxies because no one else believes your stories about a real threat. It's obvious that they're not the good guy, but they agree to equip you and let you do your own thing. At the end of the game you can choose to continue allying with them or you can give them the finger and blow their space station to hell.
Come on... you wouldn't actually love to tell the Chantry "Thanks for the equipment and the leads, guys. Now I'm telling the whole world what you've really been up to and who's really in charge!"?

Did I eat some bad mushrooms for lunch or is the BSN off it's nut today with the conspiracies??? LOL I feel like I died and woke up on the set of the X Files. Next we'll see concept art of Bigfoot getting probed by a grey.
You know people on the inside, any word on if that survey and it's concept art is fake?

You know, FWIW, if the new Inquisition is really Inquisition 2.0 and a resurgence of the mage hunters of old ... they weren't affiliated with the Chantry until they signed the Nevarran Accord and became the Templars. Break the Accord, unaffiliated again? But, honestly, who knows...
That said, I think everyone has their own interests in who to role play for an RPG, since the PC can be a very personal experience. Makes sense to me that folks have a variety of turnoffs for who that PC is.

Don't know. It would depend on how absolutely certain I was that there was *no* chantry overtones at all. Which is really hard to do, considering how the seekers were once known as the inquisitors. And the codex entry R2 quoted that had them down as a bunch of bloodthirsty murderers is a bit off-putting.LolaLei wrote...
What if the protagonist is still called the inquisitor and part of a group called the inquisition but it's not Chantry/Templar affiliated? Would you buy it then?
But yeah, if it was 100% secular, 100% politically neutral like the Wardens ("I believe in stopping the Blight. Nothing else."), no problems on my end.
The possibility that the inquisition could be anything but chantry-based is pretty slim, if it exists at all. I don't have my DA2 game guide at work, but the closing statements hinted at brutally heavy chantry invovlement.

The names are totally loaded. One of the biggest complaints that DA2 received was "Choices don't matter." By forcing the protagonist to be a member of a mage-hunting organization, the message is "Problem solved! We're taking away your choices."

Dragon Age 3: Exarch
Dragon Age 3: Inquisition
Dragon Age 3: The Breach
Dragon Age 3: Inquisitor
Dragon Age 3: Apocrypha
Apocrypha in Greek means "those hidden away", it also means "false", "esoteric", "spurious" and "of questionable authenticity" - which is rather fitting in more ways than one. It also sounds like the name of a dodgy Metal band lol.

Number 4 is another red flag for "fake survey". Nobody would name a game that. It would be like naming DA:O "Dragon Age: Warden".
I'm not really keen on any of the names lol.

Here's the word I just got: The companion 'survey' is bogus. It's a key mapper. Don't fill it out if you get it sent to you.
Whats a key mapper?
