I've Got A Theory:(sorry) that in DAI, it will be possible for Flemeth to possess Morrigan. And that will tie into the very human place Gaider said he's taking her.

lol yea, I really like Flemeth and would really love to know more about her, she is super awesome, hopefully the devs would let us find out more things about her this time around even if shes not a companion (altho I hope she wont be the antagonist I dont want her dead)

Yes,It would be a waste for such an interesting character,although she did help both our characters in some way...I can't wait learn more about her.

She can't be a real dragon, since Gaider stated that dragons aren't sentient. They're just smart animals.

I think one exception to that rule is the Queen of Dragons from the comics.

I pronounce Sera the first way you pronounced it in your video, Lola.

I have nothing against fanfic or fanart if the characters are in character, sadly I've been a part of enough fandoms where the majority of fans tend to completely twist the characters, particularly for certain pairings and so they can mash the characters into particular tropes, that I've become completely disenchanted with that side of fandoms. Not saying anyone here does that! Just that I've experienced it enough in other fandoms that it makes me avoid fanfic.net and fanart sites like the plague. 

 

Admittedly, though, I've just gotten very unlucky. My favourites tend to be the big, strong guys who are complete sweeties beneath all their bluster, and guess what tropes those types of characters get shoved into a lot, whether it's IC for them or not? Yeeeeep, the big forceful perverted dominants, even if they're actually shy or easily flustered or would die from heat rushing to their face if someone even suggested something off-colour to them. That sort of thing just doesn't matter to the majority in some fandoms. They just care that they can use the character for hideous tropes because of their height/build/how they present.

 

This happens especially often when it comes to s/s pairings with anime/manga and the 'yaoi' fandoms. Ugh. orz

 

I will sometimes read fic, because there can be some really awesome ones out there, but this is mostly how I feel about.

 

My biggest pet peeve seems to happen mostly in anime fics, where, let's take Naruto as an example:

The author wants NaruHina to happen, but during the process of the fic, they write Naruto as being a complete douchebag to Sakura and basically trash talking her like a raging gamer. This is when I just all of my what. 

 

But me personally? I'm really bad with doing the thing with the putting of the words together to make the things happen. I'm more of a visual person, but I can't draw worth a damn. I mostly just make up (or they just explode into my mind spontaneously) scenes in my head and sometimes try to write them out, but I can never get it juuust right. Not a talent I possess.

Exploring characters is one thing, turning a character who, in canon, can't even ask someone out on a date without going red in the face, becoming flustered and yelling because his voice raises when he's nervous into a sexually aggressive perverted jerk who makes off-colour comments on the fly is another thing. It's OOC behaviour like that which irks me and makes me back out of reading fanfiction so damn hard. Sadly it's that kind of thing that's often done to the characters I personally prefer, because their 'tough guy' image makes people mash them into unsuitable tropes so they can use them for their big mean dominants oh noes. orz

 

It goes the other way too, mind. Like stripping all strength a character has to turn them into a weepy little submissive that a big strong man has to come and save.

 

I guess I've come across too many fanfic that ruin the characters just so the author can fetishize one dimensional tropes. And the height rule. All my face palms towards the height rule.

 

Hence the first line of my post, "...it's just a matter of finding a good author." And then I also pointed out that sometimes you encounter a fandom where absolutely no one writes the character the way you see him/her. 

 

Personally I am in favor of fantasy and fetishizing; if that's what toots your horn, go for it. Turn that doe-eyed guy into an aggressive predator Just sucks when that's pretty much the only way people seem to write him.... so I feel your pain.

 

As for the height rule, that's kind of old school... I don't encounter it all that often anymore. But I'm sure it's still out there... like I said, there's so much fanfiction and fanart out there these days.
