oO Where do you guys find information like that? I've been googling all day for news about Bioware/EA at the Gamescom, but I can't find anything about it.

[edit] Cullen pic because... well... just because:

On Twitter mostly, through their official Bioware and DA twitters. I also follow David Gaider, Mike Laidlaw and the others 'cause they tend to drop a lot of hints about the game on there lol.

So apparently, only those fans who have attended Gamescom get to see the DA3 concept art. Does anyone else think that's really unfair? I mean, not everyone can just drop what their doing and fly to Germany, let alone afford it.

... They had better release those images to the public.

What, really? Well, thats not exactly fair to those of us who don't get to attend. :pinched:

Yep, let's just hope someone managed to sneak a few photos or can give us some decent descriptions.

David Gaiders latest tweet:

"Hahaha. Okay, sometimes the BSN still manages to be amusing. :)"

... Maybe he's laughing at the leak thread?

Hmm, that doesn't seem to follow from their other con appearances. I suppose I'd be surprised if they don't share it after the fact, with the specialness being that gamescon goers just got to see it first. On the other hand, they showed Dawn of theSeeker at a con before it was released... But concept art is a bit different.

well, honestly if that survey is really malware, you would hope someone would officially debunk it.

Some of the people done the survey have been running different software to see if it did contain a key logger, but they've found nothing.

Yup, and the resident troll is blaming me for tipping people off. Notoriety may be fun, but I can't take credit for it. If nothing else, I would not want to annoy the person who went out of her way to provide us with legitimate info.

The thing about keyloggers is that they can be hard to detect - nigh impossible if they're embedded at the kernel level. Removal is even worse. If you aren't an IT person yourself, removal of a rootkit can run into hundreds of dollars. I wouldn't have made the accusation publicly, either, because there are criminal repercussions for disseminating malicious code. Accusation without proof is just setting yourself up for a slander lawsuit.

If you think it doesn't happen, you might want to visit the Diablo 3 forums. Between May and July, hundreds of Diablo 3 players had their online identies hacked via backdoor programs and yes, keyloggers. Victims lost most, if not all, of their in-game loot and worse, whatever real-world money they had in their Battlenet accounts. Since at least one of the people who took the survey received an (unverified) discount coupon for the Origins store, it will be interesting to see whether that was real or a phishing email. No accusations made anywhere. The truth will come out in time.

So berelinde you think no one at BW would descry the survey as malware because that's a potentially litigious accusation? Ah well... Yeah, I suppose time will only tell if any of the info was legitimate.

How funny will it be if the concept art at games on ends up being those companion drawings from the survey?

EDIT: eek, just reading up on the leak thread.... Sorry berelinde that you're being targeted. Jeesh, this conspiracy stuff can get vicious.

I'm not sure how I would react to that. Could that be why they are only showing the fans at Gamescon?

Probably not without concrete proof one way or another. As I said, there are legal rammifications on all sides.

I am willing to bet real money that there is some kind of investigation going on, though. As I said, security compromises do happen (see the Diablo 3 example), and with the move from physical copies of games to online-mode virtual copies and online stores, this is serious stuff. Plus, if even one of those images was real, they'll probably want to find out how it got out.

In the case of Blizzard and the North American security compromises, the investigation took three months. Throughout that time, all Blizzard would say was "secure your account with an authenticator," and they *knew* there was a problem.

It doesn't bother me in the slightest. Obvious troll is obvious. Lola points out the grammar mistake; I get blamed (and a corrected "screenshot" gets uploaded). Esper spills the beans; I get blamed. It's fun being a super-villain! Too bad the job doesn't come with beef-cakey minions. I could do with some eye candy here at work.

I'm NOT believing anything from that post. She is a troll.

She trolled a thread about the lack of female dwarves referring to them as midgets.

She trolled a recent toolset thread saying they should have NEVER released the first toolset for Origins.

The person is a grade a troll and probably under 20 years old and hopefully she will get banned.

I am not going to believe anything until something official gets posted.

They know the leak thread is likely from an early early survey where maybe 10% made it into the game.

I fear I may have thrown the snowball that started the avalanche and am now kind of sorry I said anything at all. I just didn't want people to get taken for a ride by an allegedly bogus survey. I'm sorry if anyone's taking undeserved flack.

Don't be. You did the right thing. And I don't trust the person who keeps insisting its true.

meanieweenie, please don't apologize. You totally did the right thing. And really, we should all stop talking about it *right now* because we really don't need to draw any more attention to the issue.

People will continue to request links to the survey, and people will continue to trust a known troll with juicy gossip of dubious veracity over a modder with an 8-year history of helping the gaming community. If sources are right, there will be some people who find themselves with very confusing credit card bills in a few months. They will complain, but at the end of the day, they were robbed by subscription.

Alright.... so here's something silly to cleanse our palates:

I was out at the store today, trotting down the exercise aisle and saw this set of dumbells with the obligatory hot muscle bound man on the picture and I'll be darned if the dude's face didn't look like Cullen. I did a double take and then had a good laugh.

Edit: I found an ebay page for it... on second glance it may look more like Alistair. (The pic was tiny on the box)

A while ago, we were talking about the kind of introduction we would like Cullen to have. Did we ever come to a consensus?

Out of work templar selling his body washing horses to earn money for his next lyrium fix?
Conscripts the protagonist for a special assignment and winds up as a permanent companion?
Saves the PC from crazed mages/templars/muttering lunatics?
Shows up as a blind date?

Edit: Oh, my! Such a striking resemblance! (fans self)

I imagine him leaving the order (or something along those lines) and we meet him when he's going through withdrawls and can decide to help him or not (give him a lyrium potion). Thats something I've conjured but I dont know if it'd work.
