I've been waiting for another "Cullen fans are crazy" thread to appear so I can finally announce that Cullen is my spirit animal. I've been saving it.

This confused me too. 

 

Personally I think (probably to the chagrin of a few posters here lol) Cullen might be a few years younger than what his toolset age says. The ages aren't exactly gospel in the first place.

 

But if the age is true, I've got no problem with that. I just find the "new" comment to be strange. 

Not to belabor the point (too late!), but when I hear him talking about being new, it's in the context of never having seen or been called upon to kill an abomination and only in the male mage origin. So, it doesn't sound to me like he's fresh off the bus from nowheresville, off to become a templar, but that he's new to his duties as a templar, i.e. killing mages like m!Amell/m!Surana.

I can see Cass being distrustful towards templars to be honest,including Cullen who also happens/ed to be a high ranked one.Although her stance will be different according to where Cullen's loyalties lie,whether he's still loyal to the chantry or not.Though this still wouldn't be enough to completely erase suspicions from her mind.

 

Also, in some sense, templars and seekers should never get along, since the goal of one is to police the other. Like how cops generally don't like Internal Affairs. "When a Seeker steps from the shadows, templars run for cover."

Yeah he only has that dialogue with a male mage, he's too busy stuttering to mention it to a female.
