I can't quite remember what he says to the other classes/a male mage, but it might be implied he was still visited by desire demons? At the very least demons, no matter what they were, took an active role in trying to mentally break him down and tempt him to the dark side. He wasn't just put in his little pink prison of pinkness and forgotten about.

LOL We don't really know what he saw in his pink cage of woe, except that some of it must've pretended to be Amell/Surana presumably. (In other words: what elder king said. There's no evidence to suggest it was necessarily a desire demon. Just that whatever it was, it seems it was trying to trick him since he no longer wants to believe his eyes. )Wait, did Cullen ever actually encounter a desire demon?

It's a shame, but I've not seen many players acknowledge the extraordinary amount of willpower that Cullen must have possessed to withstand everything that was thrown at him during his imprisonment in the Tower. But thinking about it, it has made me wonder something about his character that I hadn't considered before.
There must have been moments during his imprisonment and and torture where he felt his willpower and resolve slipping and given how seriously he takes his vows, duty and beliefs, the knowledge that he too could 'give in' and succumb to demon temptation just as a mage can, would seriously test and shake his faith in himself.
So my wondering is, could that new self awareness that he too was just as susceptible and vulnerable to the 'whisperings and temptations of demons' have externalised itself into his behaviour of towards mages. Perhaps easier to blame them fully than to see himself just as vulnerable.
I'm not sure iff i've made any sense to anyone there, i'm not particularly good at articulating brain thought to keyboard but it's a slightly different way in seeing how the Tower Incident affected him than I usually take.

I've actually always appreciated that the writers in Broken Circle made him seem to take a lot of the blame on himself ("The Maker knows my sin" etc.) rather than holding the mages entirely accountable, and had him still treat the f!mage Warden (if not the rest of the Circle) with respect. A nice change of pace from the standard religious-man "take your she-devilry elsewhere, O disgusting woman who tempted me" trope.

I haven't played a mage origin since my very first playthrough when the game was released, so a lot of my memory of the conversation between him and the female warden is hazy unfortunately, but yes, it is a nice change of pace.
I'm certainly finding it an interesting take on things. It's not his fear of mages giving into demons that drives him but fear that he could.

Question: Do you think a non-Fem!Amell/Surana playthrough is as valid as other playthroughs when it comes to the complex formation of Cullen's character? Secondly, do you think he crushed on Fem!Amell/Surana (as in, did they even exist) in these other playthroughs?
Of course! I think I remember my rogue Cousland hearing similar pink bubble dialogue - regarding the temptations Cullen was faced with. Felt a lot of sympathy for him actually, even though she hadn't met him before and wasn't familiar with mage stuff.
