My theory has always been that if he is a virgin then it'll be because after all the sh!t he's gone through over the years he's just always had too much on his plate to do something about it. I mean, sure, he could go to a brothel or have a one night stand like all the DA2 Templars seemed to be doing, but he doesn't strike me as the type of man to have sex just for the pleasure, I think for him there would need to be at least feelings involved. Plus, he strikes me as the kind of man that wouldn't want to be a burden on another person, with all his head mess and the brainwashing he's had in the Order he's probably actively tried to avoid physical and romantic relationships, hell it's not like Templars have that much time to see their partners, anyway.
Interestingly, he says in DA2 if your Warden was an Amell (and this counts for Surana too) that he "never met her like again", which sounds like he goes for a certain type of person, someone that is skilled/impressive in ways beyond just physical appearance. So I don't think he'd be content to settle for a normal little house wife.
Perhaps he's just never met the right type person (since Amell/Surana, if you played as her, or at all, if not).

FYI We've actually already pledged to DG that the Cullenites won't march, and def without pitchforks.Child, we already have our Exalted March planned for BioWare Edmonton. All we need is the green light from our Prophet Lady R2.
You know the part about Amell/Surana, I hope that isn't true because that could be bad news for our Inquisitor, heh. It seems romantic that he is still hung up on her, but isn't it time to move on? They never really had anything, other than Cullen's crush on her and I certainly wouldn't want him to sulk about her if he is a LI/companion while my Inquisitor is humping his leg.
I think he would have moved on a long time ago from any emotional feelings he had. However I do see him as having put up a very tough mental wall after Ferelden and he pretty much made duty his mistress. I'm thinking he could be one tough Templar to crack.
Hopefully we'll be given the opportunity to do so.

But I still like the writein campaign of sending hairbrushes with tags saying brush me and I'm yours.
What? When was such a plan decided?!?! And why wasn't I told? The Prophet has betrayed us all!

I've finally got a chance to read thru this discussion. It's fascinating, because it touches on exactly the issues that make Cullen so compelling (to me anyway). I see him, his experiences, and his subsequent character development as actually being the common thread that runs through the entire series. While the mage/templar war may not be the main thrust of the Inquisitors story, it certainly the backdrop of the game and will have a major impact on how the Inquisition is conducted. In this context Cullen's influence on the Inquisition should be a very important part of the equation, especially if his relationship with the Inquisitor is both professional and personal. Imo, he has been going in the right direction. Over time, he has become less shy and more confident, less stringent and more tolerant. I am very, very anxious to gauge his development since Kirkwall. Truth be told, if I'm not able to explore these things to the extent of my liking, I'm going to be a sad bunny. ![]()
Oh, and does being a virgin matter? I want to say it shouldn't, but if he has not had sex because of his experiences at the hands of the mages in Ferelden or because it somehow goes against his principles, then it certainly becomes an issue that will have to be addressed if he's an LI.
Edit: For the record, I have my doubts that he is. A virgin, I mean. But I'm not sure. So, yeah, it would be nice to find out. ![]()
Kinda OT but Greg Ellis tweeted me after I said I was in love with his voice.
Nice!
Nice!
I have a terrible habit of tweeting embarassing things at celebrities without thinking "they will actually see and read this"
It's like the more embarassing the more likely they will reply, actually.
This just made me realize how lucky the Cullen fanbase is to be a whole community of sexually charged women; I've had no such luck with Merrill.
We're not ALL women... *cough cough*
We're not ALL women... *cough cough*
I second that.
I also wouldn't qualify myself as "sexually charged" LOL
Seconded. ![]()
LOL edit for inappropriate content ...
Maybe Amell/Surana/both don't survive their Harrowing, if you don't play as them?
They survived.
It's however Duncan's arrival effected the course of events. Duncan didn't effect the harrowing.
LOL Down there, Maferath! It was when he accused us of being the ravening horde that would get out our pitchforks if Cullen's story doesn't match our fanfic/headcanon. Not realizing of course that at this point we've imagined it all! What? When was such a plan decided?!?! And why wasn't I told? The Prophet has betrayed us all!

I can see that and that would not bother me in the least, just no lost love thing. If the game would have us play as our Warden or Hawke again then I would be all for Cullen still having feelings for Amell/Surana, but seeing we're a completely new character that might have never met him before, it would be nice to just bury that whole story. Just my opinion of course, but then I'm not a Cullen/Amell/Surana shipper.
So it could be possible to visit other countries in DLC.... so i wouldn't count nevarra/starkhaven out totally yet!
Who said day 1 DLC had to be a companion? It could be a location.
