I prefer speculating about all the different possibilities more than coming up with head canons. Sure, I have preferences surrounding how I'd like to see his story and potential romance arc play out, and I have theories on where they'll probably take his story/romance arc, but beyond that any "head canon" I have surrounding Cullen is just something to temporary fill in the gaps when coming up with hypotheticals.

While I do utilise headcanon at times, I always keep it within lore and what is permissible within the games and as you say, to fill gaps. A good example is the one I mentioned before with my Hawke, I could headcanon that they ran away together after Kirkwall and had a football teams worth of babies but what would be the point, the games could never reflect or validate that, so I wouldn't dream of creating a headcanon of it happening. Which is why the poor girl suffered in silence, admiring and having naughty dreams of him from afar.

 

I do rather enjoy reading fanfiction that ignores my rules however

Gaider certainly shouldn't worry about Cullen fans and pitchforks IMO. From what i've seen after a long time lurking and just recently adding my poor two pennies worth in, I can't see that anyone would upset at at any potential 'headcanon invalidation'. In my case there's no headcanon to be invalidated anyway lol

I just realized I usually hate the intimate psychotherapy trope (like with Jack in ME2) because it's usually a guy healing a broken women with his dick but I have to admit I can't wait to help Cullen deal with his PTSD till he's healthy enough to love the inquisitor without guilt. IF HE'S A LI. WHICH HE SHOULD BE.

I agree, I don't really like the "love will fix him/her" trope, so I hope he's all ready on his own for some healthy lovin'.

 

Ironically, I was thinking today  after reading through the thread about how his experience with Meredith could be just the catalyst he needs to get over his 'fear' or trauma about mages. I like the notion of how his torture could lead to him being extra super vigilant about mage excesses because he's seen what can happen. He notes about how he thought Kinloch Hold was too lenient on the  mages. So he focuses so hard to *not* be lenient, he unwittingly abets Meredith's extremism. Waking up from that could help recalibrate his feelings on how a Circle could be run. But it could also heal some of the fears he might have carried with him. :shrug: Or he goes the other way and never trusts his own judgment again!

 That's why I greet new Cullenites with "Come on in! The crazy's fiiine!" I think our brand of "crazy" isn't necessarily the same as the usual p!ss & vinegar threads DG and CO. are used to dealing with. And at first, DG did seem to assume that we must be particularly strange to have made it to so many pages and for so many threads against us to be made on the forum. Then I think he started lurking and really looking at the matter and realized that we aren't the torch wielding psychos the rest of BSN was making us out to be. In short, he did his own research and came to his own conclusions and told the rest of BSN to stop picking on us. He still thinks we're "crazy" but it's the good kind of crazy I think.

Actually where I come from people use the term crazy more often to describe someone incredibly fun,than for someone who actually has a mental disorder!So yeah that's that...
