I've been wondering something. If (when) Cullen gets confirmed in DAI, will we be making a new thread, or asking someone to move this one?

I would think we'd keep this one here maybe, cause you know there are gonna be a crap ton of people coming after us on the main boards as it is.

I've asked several questions before...don't remember what they were and was surprised when I saw that he answered them. Also, every time he did answer, he was his comical straight forward self, but never rude or anything. It's one of the main reason why I like DG so much.

It's a good question and something we've discussed a lot. I think the consensus is that we maintain this as our safe refuge when the, to borrow a term, craziness ensues in the main threads once his participation is revealed. It would be nice to be able to set up a bonafide fan thread there. We don't know if one of the devs will create one for the companions like they did with DA2. If he's not a companion, it may need to be fanmade. Ideally by one of us, but I think we'd still want to be able to retreat here.

I can honestly say, I don't venture outside of this thread much anymore anyways. There's no point. When I have or want new info I come here. When I want to discuss something, even not 'Cullen' related, I can still come here. There's no bashing over the head of what I am questioning or thinking is wrong. Also, we have some of the most talented ppl I've ever met here. So it keeps me coming back here as well.

 

I think these reasons are probably some of the main ones why devs tend to browse through this thread.

I don't think they'd close it down given how the DA:O threads are still going. And folks who really want to harass us know where we are anyway.

I don't know,I think it will depend on the devs/mods...But If Cullen is indeed a companion,the sooner these people realise it and stop Bitching about it the better!

I wonder if it's kind of the difference between calling *ourselves* crazy, versus someone else doing it. I mean, sure, I think we're kinda crazy in here sometimes, but I don't want folks thinking we're "crazy," as in lost to reason. 

 

I think that's how DG saw us in the beginning, that we were "lost to reason". He certainly has had to deal with plenty of BSNers who seem to be just that over the tiniest of things. The Cullen!fan bashers didn't help that perception. Gaider is no fool, though. He eventually began to see that we aren't extraordinarily crazy and that there seemed to be far more users perversely obsessed with bringing up how much they loathe Cullen and seeing him brought up versus us actually doing so. Since it seems to have more or less died down to an overplayed joke now, it seems they've taken to twitter, where the almighty dev has no sway. The last anti-Cullen thread received a lot of "This again?" and "I see more people like you complaining than actual fans shoving Cullen in my face." and so forth. I'd like to think they've given up and that the fans and Bioware have pretty much gotten it through their skulls that we aren't pariahs. Which leaves me a tad concerned if Cullen is a companion and LI...   Because it could (read probably) start the witch hunt anew.

I highly doubt that confirmation of Cullen as a companion would stop the complaints.   In fact, I'd bet the exact opposite, well, for a period of time, anyway. And some fans who feel that Cullen took their choice's place will be grumpy. (You can't really help it. I know after ME2 I was a little annoyed with Garrus because he was made a LI and Joker wasn't. I didn't troll the fan thread, but I was jealous. I got better!)

Oh MAN, that would be an exercise in futility. Honestly, part of the reason I hope Cullen gets announced officially soon (as a companion or simply as in the game, whatever) is so the main flood of trolling can get it over with, and then we fans can move on to the fun bits.

True. Sad... but true. It's pretty sketchy whether or not we can even participate in general discussion threads like "What is your dream party of companions" without drawing fire for mentioning Cullen's name. I have noticed less response to seeing him mentioned, but sometimes it still devolves into fan bashing of the first degree.

I know,although the whole idea of trolling a thread simply because someone didn't get his way seems incredibly immature to me...Well what can I say,f the devs decide to move the thread to the main forums,or create an official thread about Cullen there if he's confirmed,then I guess we will have to use the ignore/report button for a while...

I have many many ideas and theories and options for how Cullen's story can go/has gone. I always found it silly of DG to be afraid of "breaking fan canon" when, even amongst ourselves, we break it all the bloody time! I know our zeal seems to translate into us being too invested and they're afraid of taking away our dividends but, really! We aren't stuck to one specific ideal of him. Most of us have even said at some point or another that the writers could do pretty much ANYTHING to him or with him and we'd be happy with it if it was done well. That's all I think we ask for. I don't think it's that scary.

 

 

We'd just be so happy to see him, we wouldn't care how.... as long as he's romancable....
