I must have been born with the special ability of my favorite characters always being some of the most universally disliked and/or polarizing ones. Downside being that I can never find anywhere to discuss them as a character, only just about how much they suck.

Either that or they always just die.

And then you have guys like this: "I am not being jealous. I am as indifferent as can be towards the whole prospect. I am just hoping that IF you include Cullen, it will be for the right reasons (continueation of his story, relevance to the plot, interesting viewpoints, yadda yadda yadda). Pretty much exactly as you said it Gaider."

Um... but that's EXACTLY what we keep saying! It's like they choose to not see our numerous thoughtful posts explaining just such reasons for wanting Cullen to be included. They're intent on believing we are vapid fangirls who only want his embargo and they are the gatekeepers of Making-Sure-DA:I-Doesn't-Suck-Because-The-Devs-Pandered-To-The-Fangirls.

Yeah that's why it's pretty much blatant misogyny.

I've never seen what's so bad about wanting Cullen, he has one of the best situations for a very good plot arc. I'd kill to write a character that had that history set previously through previous instalments and has had some contact with the previous 'heroes'. You could go so many places with him, you could have him as a broken individual who's had his trust destroyed by those who he believed in or you could have him as one who desires vengeance against those who commit crimes against the innocent. Just so many choices and I think the writer part of me is drooling a bit.

That reminds me; I was channel flipping a few years back, and I came across some anime on Spike TV or SyFy or who knows. I was immediately really, really into this dark-haired mysterious brooding character. Like this guy was really cool, man. He had issues. I could smell the depth and complexity from a mile away.

At the end of the episode, he died. I was like, really? Figures

Pro-tip regarding Magic Mike: fast forward through all the talking, just watch the "performances" Especially... "Ride My Pony"...

It stings more for me when it's a character that I've been invested in for years. I remember being a kid and crying when Vegeta died.  :P (death in dragonball is moot anyway but still)

To make a long story short: I remember when I first started watching Bleach, I was pulled towards Gin. I always kept thinking "Dude seems interesting and like he's up to something way more than shits 'n giggles." Years down the line, little details happen and then the big thing happens and he just dies. I was just like wtf was all this about??

I'm waiting for Obito from Naruto to likely bite the dust now. I joked a bit ago that Cullen was my spirit animal. Nope, nope. This guy totally is. My body is prepared.

I hope that despite Gaider's opposition, one of the writers includes a Spanish inquisition joke or two.

Da-daaaa: This post. I'm not entirely sure how to quote stuff from the old forum, though.

I'm way late, but here's that post on the new forums, so you should be able to quote it now. :D

Oh, you are a Bleach fan! I don't watch/read it anymore, but my one and only favorite character of all time is my precious little Kuchiki-taichou <3  And of course I am a massive RenBya shipper; in fact, that was the major fandom I wrote in several years back. Oh the days of multi-chapter AU fanfiction updates...

I used to be a big Bleach fan back in the day, but anymore I obligatory read it each week just to see how it ends. Since the Fullbring arc I have no idea what's really going on anymore. That and after Gin bit the dust, my favorite is Rukia. We share a birthday and everything! And her bankai was pretty.

I also like Byakuya too.  ;)

But I'll try not to spam the Dragon Age Cullen thread with my anime waifus.

Cullen fans are really cool, that's why I like it here lol. I was attacked outside for wanting a pirate themed origin.

Yay I correctly guessed the accent thing! Definitely choosing the American accent, (unless it's awful), and happily actually. I can just say she picked it up in the time she spent away from the Dalish.

Sorry, been asleep.

Okay, so, off-topic, but I'm looking over my Dragon Age 2 playthrough binder, and I'm wondering something about my plans for my canon Hawke.

Was there any information regarding Sister Petrice's stance on mages? Qunari are right out (and, thus, Tal-Vashoth, one would assume) but I can't recall if she had anything to say about mages. She seemed sympathetic towards the Saarebas, but that could have been to convince Hawke to help her.

Ooo! On-topic: how do you think Cullen felt/feels about how Qunari treat their mages? Was that ever discussed in-game? Do you think that changed during his years in Kirkwall?

Let me tell you, you are so not alone in this. The only one who could make me betray the most Bailey of Lauras, is Alix Wilton Regan.

Hmm depends on when you ask him? In Act 1, he'd probably say, "I can understand their fear, and I can't say blame their efforts, even if their measures are extreme." Would he be repulsed by the site of a person whose lips have been sewn shut, body mutilated (horns cut off), and collared and chained? Yeah, totally, especially after seeing that heartbreaking look on his face someone shared a few days ago when Hawke murdered those Circle mages.

I think if you pressed him he'd say they go too far.

I don't recall Cullen having any opinion on how the Qunari treat their mages. I believe his consideration of the Qunari encompasses "They are heathens!" and that's about it. lol! I'm projecting here, but if he found some acts against mages to be too extreme, I think we can safely assume that he wouldn't agree with how saarebas are treated. I also don't recall Petrice having much of a stance on mages in general. She seemed more concerned with the Qunari. I doubt she cares though. She's most concerned with blackmarking anything that is contrary to the faith. Mages are a part of that. Interpretation of the Chant is subjective to each person and there are some people willing to take a more lax view of it and the heads of Andrastianism wouldn't want that. So I think Petrice would support the side of her superior's interests, to keep the Chantry in power. When pushed to an opinion I doubt she'd be a friend to mages. Just my two cents.
