Those are a lot of thoughts...Wow. I'll just tackle the first one, since my views on the other thoughts aren't as strong/non-existant. (Like, I couldn't care less about Sandal, so long as he doesn't become a major player)
Personally, I doubt they'd have a class specific companion again. And it wouldn't take out one warrior for another warrior. And I really don't think Cassandra will be the one taken out since I think she's this game's poster girl.
But above all, the reason I dislike the concept of class specific companions, (and why I don't think DAI will have it), is because it takes away the player agency. I wouldn't be opposed to a Virmire where the player CAN decide and will directly affect the fate of two companions, especially if it's not just limited to one set, like say Cassandra or Cullen. Because the two companions they choose to be sacrificed may well have really interesting dynamic between them. Obviously, it would be a much less powerful decision with the metaknowledge, and people would just use this as a way of disposing of their least favourite character, but the first time, players will probably choose some of their favourites.
I could see a virmire choice. Easily.
