"So far." Sooooo there's still a chance to get a hell of a lot more in there since the release is still a ways from now.

and then again he did do recording like two years ago.... So... I really want him to be a companion. Hagjdskfjdl.

Although I could deal with just a romance :P

LOL "just a romance" seriously??  bwahahaha! So funny how quickly we go from "I just want to see him smile at me, in game, once" to "eh, sure, I guess I could romance him... but not a full companions? pfft"

LOL (just pokin' fun, carine! it's been quite the rollercoaster!)

Ah, I forgot about your tumblr. Thank you.

Didn't Mr. Gaider mentioned he had to re-write a companion as well? That could explain for more sessions, if Mrs. Hepler wrote Cullen before she left.

GE just tweeted, that he made 5 dragon age recordings each 4 hours long..  SO FAR...

I don't know, but that sounds like he's a very very important character in DAI don't you guys think? (possible a companion?)

Edit: alwayshungry ninja'd me hard... ouch... ;)

In one of DG's blog posts, he said that VAs typically record more than 200 lines of dialogue per recording session (I don't remember the exact figure, but it was pretty mind-boggling). That means he's got >1000 lines of dialogue. Not all of those will be Cullen (VAs typically do additional dialogue apart from their main character - Simon Templeman did about 5 characters in DAO), but that's still far too many for Cullen to have a trivial role.

Is this typical for recording? Do they bring someone in throughout the whole development time normally? I would imagine that they wouldn't just slap a romance in this late in the game. Would they? COULD they? Lol!

Hahahaha I know. I'm setting my expectations a little too high right now but I'm just giddy. More realistically, I hope that he has a lot of lines of dialogue with the Inquisitor and I hope that the "raunchy" lines or whatnot lead to something rather than just harmless flirting like with Teagan.

Wow  -  I have 3 threads open and jumping between them - it's lovely to see how sweet so many posters are being about this. Even those that don't like or are indifferent to Cullen.

And I'm pinning my hopes on the 'raunchy' dialogue  ;)

For a Bioware game? Yes, that's normal if the character has a major role.

Seriously! I've seen like three "Aww, I'm not a Cullen fan but I'm surprised how happy I'm feeling for them :)" for every "hurp durp fanservice".

Companion VAs tend to do less additional voice work, though. Not always, of course, but... Greg Ellis does have a distinctive voice. It'd be a touch awkward if we came across too many NPCs with his voice if Cullen is, indeed, a companion.

"Oh, hello, Cullen. I just so happen to have Cullen with me!"

Me too.  I'm just sitting here trying to imagine Cullen with raunchy dialogue.  It's...rather time consuming actually.  I might not get any more work done today.  ;)

well there's a few here and there that aren't too complimentary, but then there always are.  The vast majority are congratulatory and a lot of them mention how much flack Cullen fans have had to take.

Your mileage may vary, it's possible the jerks just weren't up yet when I was looking.

And now to try to get some work done... argh...

He did a lot of voices in Origins (like a LOT) but in DA2 he only voiced Cullen. I think I remember someone saying that was the reason they changed Ander's VA, because Ellis was already voicing Cullen and they didn't want to have an overlap of a companion VA and NPC VA

Yeah, this. Cullen was REALLY minor in DA:O so there was no overlap and it didn't really break immersion. If he'd voiced both Anders and Cullen in DA2 it would have been very, very noticeable and kind of weird.

Some voice actors can REALLY change their voice, like Mark Meer voicing both the Vorcha and Biotic God and Shepard, of course. Greg Ellis, though, is sort of like Steve Blum and Jowan's VA for me. I can spot them anywhere.

I thought it was also because GE didn't have time for a full companion in DA2.

Omg Mark Meer...I still get surprised at some of the characters that he has voiced

Me: "Do you have many more recording sessions for Cullen's VO left to go?"

Greg Ellis: "Yes. I am in the studio again next week"

Hm, not quite the answer I was looking for, LOL!

Not gonna lie, whatever the reason, I'm thankful. Adam Howden did great as Anders and I prefer Greg Ellis as Cullen.  :wizard:
