Yeah, that was... bad. I was so excited when I found out that Sebastian was chaste romance, but the execution did not allow for me to even pretend my Hawke was asexual. Gah. Actually, that's probably why the idea of a one-night-stand-type-thing rings so odd for me. 

Yeah, it was especially odd for my shy/nice/diplomatic types that would of wanted to flirt, but not say -that-. They made so many of the flirts in the game sorta facepalm worthy. Hopefully more than one heart icon will trigger a romance for this game. There should be more than one type of way to say what they want, if there's going to be so many ways to flesh out your Inquisitor thru dialogue. It should extend to flirts as well.

 

That's one thing I liked about Origins, there were multiple ways to initiate the romance. Like Alistair's. Has anyone ever told you how handsome you are? There was also bringing up his chantry upbringing, it has an initiator, or telling him you like him for more than just his blood, etc.. Of course, the downside was the ninjamancing, picking something you had no idea would trigger it.

What if we run into the Warden (Amell/Surana) while Cullen is with us? That could be mildly interesting. Although I can't remember if the devs said the Warden would appear or if they said the Warden would definitely NOT appear.

 

Honeeestly, I could probably live with a Sebastian-like romance for Cullen, because at least it has some flirting and gets acknowledged at some points in the game, like in MoTA with Bethany and Sebastian in the party

Yeah me too,although I'd prefer it if we have more interaction with him,than we we had with Seb...I mean he didn't even come to console your pc when their mother died!(Although,It must be something along the lines of him being a dlc character...)

I think the DLC part was the whole reason Sebastian wasn't considered a "real" romance. :/

Which sucks. Even though I've played through Fenris/Anders/Isabela, the fact that Sebastian wasn't full-fledged made me want him more ugh

its funny tho when we heard about Steave's Valentines tweet about Alistair we all wished that Greg would do the same, and he did.. but unfortunatly its nothing that we havent known before, and also no "solid" responses on the companion/li thing...

True, but at least we have more confirmation that he's going to play a "rather large part" which was mostly just speculation up til this point. I mean we figured as much from concept art, but at least we know for a fact that he's been recording a good amount of dialogue

 

So regardless of his actual role, we will have maaaaany new Cullen screenshots to obsess over at the very least

Yes. I enjoy Fenris. I like the dialogue the most in Act 3 and MOTA, etc., then the emotions are talked of more. But the flirts.. noooo. For me, made it seem more like a sexual thing, so when it got all serious and romantic later, it surprised me. Since the flirts made it seem like it was just leading up to sex and that was it. Hawke had too many bad flirts.

That seems a bit unfair. I'm not surprised, or dejected that Greg Ellis hasn't given us a companion confirmation, really only Bioware can do that and it's obvious they aren't ready to talk about it yet. 

 

We didn't know that he would be in the game, now we do. We now know that he has a decent chunk of dialogue in the game, and that he is a major player in the plot/game. We even got a huge hint that Culen will be saying something romance related! 

 

I understand you're disappointed that we still don't know for sure what Cullen's exact role would be, but I'd hate for Greg Ellis to come on here, or anyone else for that matter, and feel like we're ungrateful for what he has shared with us.

I think if they did pander, it'd be more visual than storywise. Like all of Miranda's arse shots, (which I admittedly quite enjoyed), we might get a 'saucier' love scene.

Seriously though, he could very easily have meant "player character" as opposed to "Non-Player Character". We don't know for sure whether he meant protagonist or companion. And now I will shut up about this, I promise.

 

I have seen the terms used this way in the past (Player character referring to any playable character, party member or otherwise).

 

I do NOT know if this is how Gaider uses it.

 

 

I ran into it from the other perspective talking with a forum goer, since I would still consider them "NPCs" but the forumite I was speaking with considered all party members to be player characters.

I wasn't calling you ungrateful, I just don't want disappointment to be mistaken as such to someone coming from outside the thread. 

 

On this thread, we learn a lot of things other people don't due to a lot of dedication and constant communication. For most DA fans, and even Cullen fans, they didn't know he was a for sure thing (in all honesty, neither did we, we just had a strong case for why we thought he would be). As for his NDA, I don't think it has been lifted, he just got the "go ahead" to say that he would be returning as Cullen. For all we know, the marketing team may have made it REALLY clear to Greg that he is only able to talk about certain things, such as Cullen being in the game to some capacity but that's it.
