Same here -- at least, for most of them, I feel like I got a better image of their past and what made them who they were. Though I love both sets of companions, I don't know if I can ever forget the conversation with Alistair about licking a lamppost in winter.

Oh man, how could I have maxed out on likes again??  Like! Some conversations are indeed unforgettable! LOL

I know I can't. Or Leliana's conversations about shoes, or Sten's about cookies or Shale's about sparkling. It's those little conversations about absolutely nothing that really sell me on these characters. DA2 was just way too focused for my tastes.

It's on my list of Redbubble stuff to get. That and a Qunari hoodie, but I want to check which way the symbol is supposed to be before I get it and look like a ******. No idea how I'm supposed to find out though.

I'd take the conversations over the quests any day. I just feel like I know the Origins lot ten times better than the DA2 lot.

Did you guys play DA:O first? That could be why the companions stick with you more. I played DA2 first, and I feel like I know those guys far more intimately than I know the DA:O characters. I think it is all a matter of perspective.

I thought the lamppost line was pretty funny, but not super memorable (it gets quoted a lot, hence why I remember it ). Then again, I wasn't romancing Alistair, either!

I loved talking to Shale about pigeons.

Ooooor when my Warden would interrupt all of Wynne's stories with questions about griffons :P

I'm the greedy goober who wants both. :) i like talking to them but I also like having a quest to help them and learn more about their pasts in an interactive way.

That's probably true...

And yeah, the Alistair romance is probably a big reason why his lines stick with me. He's that one character in Origins that I have the worst time trying NOT to romance. In DA2 I feel that way with Isabela.

Yeah, after the awesome cinematics of DA2, playing DA:O, where my silent character just pumps them with questions while they both stand and stare at one another was kind of a let down, lol!

Although I like all the companions in DA2, there was something very special about the DA:O companions for me, I suspect it was for mainly this reason. It felt like I really got to know them, whereas in DA2 it just, wasn't there on that level.

Varric, Isabela and Aveline still inhabit my top five companions list though weirdly.

Actually, with my modded Surana playthrough, I do have the Alistair romance played up all the way through their first time together. They're in Orzammar now, which is usually the second to last place I visit. And to be honest, I can't remember any of the romance at all. I'm sure he gave my character a rose, since everyone usually talks about that moment, but I can't actually remember it happening.

Different strokes for different folks. I think it's probably that I've played his romance through at least twice and have had two/three other playthroughs where I'm at some point along the romance plotline... and I just love his voice lol. I think I could probably list off most of the conversations with Alistair if I had to.

And I've played the game several times, too, just always as his friend, so I guess I remember him as a friend ... and he's in my top 5 favorite characters, so don't get me wrong, I LOVE that guy

I think Alistair works best when you're you. Not some character you've made up, you. Plain and simple. He just made me feel really special and stuff is all. And it was kinda perfect.

The amount of times i've fallen flat on my face trying to not romance Alistair, you wouldn't believe. I just can't do it, he get's me everytime.

Oh, know what's funny? I briefly started a Fem!Dwarf playthrough, and it was supposed to be pretty much me. I was royalty (that's right, b!tches!), and spurned the love of Gorim (been there, sorry, boys). Then when I met Alistair, I couldn't help selecting all the snarky/b!tchy options. As a consequence, I kept getting negative friendship points with him LOL At some point, I realized I'd have to not play as myself and be sweet to him. I kind of lost interest after that. Also, my dwarf had orangutan arms. That was, er, a bit of a turn off for me.

Hahah yeah I didn't mean anything negative by what I said! I personally always see Morrigan as a friend because I never have the desire to play through Origins as a male character, so I get what you mean :P

Same. I've tried Zev and Leliana and my Warden always ends up going for Alistair instead. Siiiigh. Haha

I tried finishing Leliana's romance arc but when she told me my eyelashes flutter like butterflies when I slept, it was over. lol

had to download a proportion fix just to play as a dwarf. I can't believe how oddly long they made the arms.

I always play a sarcastic/witty character if I can (all my Hawkes somehow end up as sarcastic Hawkes, which is probably why I also love Isabela and Varric so much), which works well with Alistair I think.

Yeah... After I asked all the questions, it was kind of a bummer that it was all there was.

Sigh, if only Morrigan had been same sex. I really wanted to romance her :( (And Alistair, too, of course.) Leliana, I never really had any interest in. I hardly ever talk to her, to be honest. I can't stand listening to all her stories lol Once she made some comment about elves being servants, and my Dalish bit her head off. She was really apologetic, but I could tell she didn't get it. (Which actually makes for an interesting character flaw.)

I'm probably one of the few who didn't find the watching you while you sleep thing creepy. Under the circumstances, it's sweet. But butterfly eyelashes? No. Just no girl. Go play with your socks.

I'm not a huge fan of Leliana either. Morrigan and Alistair are probably my faves from Origins, followed by Zevran. I'm positive that if Morrigan had been a same-sex option I would have romanced her at some point in time, but then again I have a really hard time not going for Alistair so I'm not entirely sure :P
