Do you think his "YES" response was being purposefully (but playfully) misleading?

I would think that he was not aware what companionship means in the game context. Which is understandable if he hasn't played the games. I'm still convinced that Cullen will be a romanceable companion, though. Seems like too much dialogue for an NPC.
But hey, I'm fine with him being an npc too, as long as I get plenty of dialogue and a romance. My blood mage will be hitting on him like there's no tomorrow.Rivalmance ftw!

Believe me, I've been kicking myself for not literally asking, "will CULLEN be romanceable and a companion?!" Instead of asking if there was to be romance and companionship but I thought he would know what I meant because he asked if we had any questions regarding Cullen or whatever he literally said I forget. I was confused as well but when he said he was recording raunchy & sexy dialogue then said Cullen has a big part in the game, I felt better. Then someone mentioned to me on twitter about the rumor that Cullen is an ambassador/advisor to the Inquisitor as a NPC but he will be able to be romanced. So right now, I'm pulling a Journey and "don't stop believing, hold onto that feeling" lulz

Well I think the tease about certain kinds of dialogue is telling but GE's experience with Bioware hasn't been to voice a follower so he may truly no know what was meant by "companionship".

That is the sense that I got, too. But he was asked about romance... and he said yes! Sooo....  I don't know what to think. Yeah, he is probably unaware of the whole BioWare LI thing, but romance is romance. Cullen clearly has some lines that go beyond shy flirts.

I'm just catching on last night, not finished yet but I just want to echo everyone in saying how great it is when a VA engages with their characters fans so much, Makes being a fan of that character so much better. One of my faves for this is Raphael Sbarge, absolutely lovely guy. He embraced Kaidans fandom and done wonderful things like...

Yay!  Whether or not he's a companion we get to hear a TON of his amazing voice (5 VO sessions so far at 200-400 lines a pop!).  That certainly makes me happy

Last night I was in full "I feel no human emotions" mode due to stuff that happened at work and it didn't translate well into being a fun thread participant. 

 

Today I'm being a little more honest with myself that no one likes being kicked/spit at/things thrown at you etc. and I was allowed to be in a foul mood about it.  But I'm over it now.

For the same reasons people like Dagna, or Gorim, or Teagan or Nathaniel or Cauthrien or Feynriel or Keran... There are many interesting stories in the world of Thedas that are happening among the main events and people want to see them too. Cullen has had many relevant experiences in both games despite the short duration of his total screen time. So he's got something he could offer to the story at hand but is a blank enough slate that anything could happen with him. At the end of the day, people like what they like and that can be a shared opinion or just one person's perspective. You either have it or you don't. It's not a bad thing if you don't get it. I'm sure you have your own things you like that I may not understand, but it's all good.

True. I forgot about that. I did Awakening only once so "Anders" for me is Adam Howden, really. Still... how would they keep that particular detail under wraps from the VO of a follower? Now I'm starting to lean more back toward they're playing dunce to keep us guessing...

So, OK, Cullenites, let's go to town on this one. I must confess... this possibility is something we, in all our 4000+ pages, have never discussed. raunchy!Cullen?? Hmmm.... not something I easily imagine, but certainly far from the "blushing stuttering virgin" some imagine.

I don't see Cullen as being raunchy with a crush or someone he was flirting with, but once he was actually in a relationship and was certain that his affections were desired, I could see him developing the confidence to... erm... express himself a little in the bedroom context. 

 

For me, Raunchy!Cullen would be Cullen in a relationship where he feels trust and security and can be more open about his desires and less chantry-appropriate feelings.

 

I'd be shocked if he was... at the same time, I imagine his costume would be a bit more fun to make than Solas'. Unless they used one of his later/more complicated armour options for the kit. 

 

How to make Solas' costume:

 

1.) Go to Eastern Mountain Sports or other outdoor activities store of your choice.

 

2.) Buy long underwear and a camping vest.

 

3.) Done.

 

 

Has anyone else had a chance to read the Masked Empire yet?

I can see him getting to that point if you flirt and teased him enough to get frustrated. I don't see him giving into the temptation of a relationship, especially one of a sexual nature, possibly with a mage, easily.

Lol!I was internally face palming when I heard my pc saying that line to Fenris!

 

I wasn't, only because I was playing my Hawke as this totally socially inappropriate awkward person who always said the wrong things. For Mercy Hawke, idiotic flirting was 100% in character. 

 

My Inquisitor has a very different personality, though, and I hope the dialog choices will allow me to reflect that.
