I saw the news of Cullen yesterday, but couldn't react because it was on my phone.

Can I just say it is so cool how so many fans here are saying they were with their kids or their baby when the news broke. I feel like that says a lot about who BioWare's (and especially Dragon Age's) fans are

I still feel like it will matter, whether Hawke supported the mages or became viscount, but perhaps I'll be proven wrong! Seems like it would have quite an impact on Cullen's career though.

Surely it must.  To me, it felt like a moment of pivotal impact for his character, wherein he made critical decisions that would effect not only his story trajectory but also his world view.  That is the burning question I've had about Cullen ever since...what the hell happened NEXT?  And that's stayed with me, that question, that need to know.

Exactly.  I actually prefer playing as a rogue in general as the skills suite me better gameplay wise, but my first playthrough of DA:I will be as a mage, because of the potential feels.

I'm curious how NPCs will react when they meet a mage Inquisitor. The demon invasion and the war must affect people's opinion about mages.

     Bingo! That's going to rule supreme.  Jeeze, I can barely stand the wait.

Totally slow on this, but I just realised... with an English (and American) voice confirmed for the Inquisitor, that likely means the human will be Ferelden again. Which personally makes me pleased as punch. I hope, if that really is the case, there's some fun with jerky Orlesians like in MotA.

I could understand if the writers choose to kinda handwave Cullen letting Hawke go should they have sided with the mages in DA2, or make the change very small. Cullen, however, should have some sort of dialogue about the differences. It would be odd otherwise.

I noticed this as well! I'm a mother of three boys - 7, 5 and 2-months - and its fantastic to know I can interact with fans in similar life-walks/situations as myself. My two older ones still ask me to load up ME1 so they can drive the Mako; I swear the eldest knows more than I do about the various ME3 MP weapon choices/combos/usefulness (Kiddo: "Mama, I just don't think the Piranha is the best choice on this map, on Gold..." Me: "Hey! I know what I'm doing!... But, strictly for the sake of discussion... what choice would you make?"). And the middle kiddo thought rock wraiths were the "best things EVAR"....
....Fellow parents, passing on the torch of geekdom to their offspring! WOO!

I'm having this sneaking fear/suspicion that DG doesn't really like Cullen or the fandom that surrounds him. I just saw he told folks to take the discussion about Cullen elsewhere in the Twitter thread. He said the Twitter thread was only for posting Tweets, not discussing them. Yet if you go to the Twitter thread, it's still about 60% posting Tweets and 40% discussing them... just not about Cullen anymore, but apparently that makes it okay.

 

I'm concerned again
