I could understand if the writers choose to kinda handwave Cullen letting Hawke go should they have sided with the mages in DA2, or make the change very small. Cullen, however, should have some sort of dialogue about the differences. It would be odd otherwise.

The potential differences being given their proper due might be the reason for the 20 hours, actually. As oppose to it being an indication of his being a Companion... Hm.

I'd be put out myself, but I don't know where to find another female character? I haven't read any of the books (spoiled myself to high-heaven, but I don't know the characters very well.)

 

We know we have Cassandra, Vivienne, Varric, and Solas. Sera is practically confirmed. Everyone else is on far more shakier ground.

 

Another Rogue to take Cole's suspected place? That's about the only place I could think of. There are several male characters that make a female Warrior unlikely.

 

As for turning away the Inquisitor: I'd just want her to not be interested. Flat out.

Anyway, he's an actor, he knows the character isn't him. Knowing that is his job.
