I have to comment on this raunchy dialogue thing.

 

When Greg Ellis says raunchy, I don't think he means raunchy like ...Dirty sex, or something vulgar. I think he means it's raunchy like it's out of the ordinary for him (for Cullen). It's sexy, it leads to sex, and it's romantic. But not like pull out the whips and chains in the bedchamber.

 

I agree with you; I never once thought it meant Cullen was into S&M (lol). Actually, thanks for bringing that up again. The "raunchy" dialog still gives me hope of an NPC romance. It's opposed quite forcefully however by DG's stated distaste for NPC romances. So I am just not sure what to think.

Then maybe he did a minor NPC role and then came back to do Cullen? Or did a minor NPC Cullen and is back to expand on Cullen?

We have: GE claiming Cullen has large part in DAI, as well as 'raunchy' dialogue and a decent amount of sessions in the recording booth that date a long ways back. On the other hand Gaider refuses to conform or deny his role. And again, IIRC, Anders had similar faff surrounding him for DA2.

I'd play again to see, just because I hate not knowing stuff. I don't have the game anymore, sadly. I still think, since GE's voice is kind of hard to miss now, that it's doubtful he's portraying anyone else. It's not impossible, obviously, but as far as I can tell; companion VOs don't seem to get used as much for a dozen other roles unless they can reasonably be masked. Like Seb, for instance. Gideon is recognizable in far more minor roles in DAO but I only recall him as Fenris in DA2.

DG's latest post was really a stake in the heart, though! It's like he seemed genuinely concerned we were barking up the wrong tree. And that is troubling.

If the "raunchy" wasn't for Cullen, the best I can come up with is another "No, the feather, use the FEATHER!" dialogue type deal from someone else he's voicing. Though I hold out for the inclusion of "voicing sexy lines in a microphone".    I really want to know what he considers sexy lines.

This rollercoaster, never eneding is he or isn't he circle is DRIVING ME INSANE. LOL. I want him to a companion/LI SO badly...but thinking about it is making me go crazy. SO I refuse to think about it....this is me....not thinking about it...not thinking about it....not thinking about....

Or... another deal like the Fade sequence in Origins, where you take companions in and they're all trapped in their dreams, good or bad. Though for this situation, I'd hope his would differ depending on romantic interest in -Inquisitor-. Oooo.. eitherway, I'd feel pretty bad for him if demonic desire stuffs happened to him -again-.

Naaahhh! I think he's just trying to keep the hype down because he can't confirm or deny it yet since he doesn't know what will make it into final cut. A lot can be removed from a video game last minute. Asassin's Creed Brotherhood essentially IS the lost chapter of AC2 because they realized that chapter, the Rome chapter (also known as chapter 13) was too big to fit into AC2 and still do justice to. So they took it out and developed AC:B instead. But there were loose ends from where that chapter had been - an entry in the DNA sequence for it, special crafting agents you couldn't find because you weren't going to Rome. Lore mentions that referenced Rome for seemingly no reason and many other aberrations I can't recall now. At crunch time they revised a major section of the game so they could have a finished product out in time and still do right by their creation. AC:B was an awesome game so I couldn't really complain. Had they squished it into AC2 as planned, it was have been a pitiful fraction of what it actually became. So I err on the side of hoping they just don't wanna shoot us down by saying "No" especially if it turns out they can but neither do they want to promise something they don't know they can deliver on yet. Just my POV, I guess. Hopeless optimist here.

The raunchy dialogue makes me very confident in his LI possibilities, as I'm attempting to consider a situation in which Cullen has sexually suggestive or explicit dialogue and not be actively pursuing a romance with the Inquisitor, and I'm drawing up major blanks. Unless the Inquisitor is a peeping Tom, of course.

 

As for NPC vs Companion: this is really where we need more information. At this time, there is nothing besides GE's tweet of... questionable interpretation that directly points us to companionship, but, at the same time, nothing that suggests he isn't. If we knew absolutely who more of the companions were, then I'd feel more sure in saying "YES" or "NO" about Cullen's companionship. We need to know who the other Warriors are. We need to know if there are actually advisor positions. We need to know if GE is recording for other NPC's. There's just not enough information.

 

Which, really, is just how the Dev's want it.

Awww... If you wanna be negative, that's your prerogative. I'm not positive or negative, really. I'm... hopeful but hardly certain or confident. I am just happy to know Cullen WILL be in DA:I. I try not to parse and dissect all known facts, for confirmation. because I would drive myself loony. lol!

Yes... Those are very good points. I still wish they'd let the cat out of the bag, though.. because it's starting to suffocate.
