DG's latest post was really a stake in the heart, though! It's like he seemed genuinely concerned we were barking up the wrong tree. And that is troubling.
Sad as I am to admit it, I was of a similar mindset when I read his post. :/

All this speculation is fun for me, but if Cullen isn't a companion I won't deny I'll be a bit disappointed. ME3 taught me a valuable lesson in hyping yourself up for a game, and watching your favorite characters get treated poorly.
Cullen is in the game, and that's good enough for me. ![]()
Awww... If you wanna be negative, that's your prerogative.
I'm not positive or negative, really. I'm... hopeful but hardly certain or confident. I am just happy to know Cullen WILL be in DA:I. I try not to parse and dissect all known facts, for confirmation. because I would drive myself loony. lol!
It's not so much that I like being negative, as I'm an intensely logically-centered person, so trying to find bits of information and interpret them in a positive way... is difficult for me. I like sitting in neutral, because it's easier to weather the storm. Although, I am confident about Cullen's chances.
Especially him having a romantic subplot.

ONCE AGAIN, OUT OF LIKES! SO HERE IS ANOTHER GIF TO GIVE THE HAPPY FEELS AGAIN!

WHAT??? wait DG said the dialog is not enough for a companion?... Well... back to being depressed again...oh welll at least we still get to see him I guess.. its better then nothing...

Oh I didn't mean to imply that you LIKE to be negative! So sorry about that if I left you with that impression. I just meant that I'm not telling you that you have to be positive. lol! I understand what you mean, though. If I let myself, I'd analyze and logic the stuffing out of the facts. lol! I just choose not to or I'd go nuts! I guess I just wish to make others feel better. ![]()
I wish keeping my expectations low about this actually meant that I would magically feel little to no disappointment at the outcome like so many people seem to imply it would.
I don't expect him to be anything more than a non-romanceable NPC, but with that lingering bit of hope of something more still there...
It doesn't snow here on Christmas. It's never snowed here on Christmas since I've lived here. In fact, it barely snows here at all. Every year I know it won't snow on Christmas, and actually get annoyed when people even suggest such an absurd thing could happen. Yet, every year, I still feel serious disappointment and sadness when it doesn't snow, because there was a small chance and that tiny bit of hope was somehow still there after so many years. (Yes, a simple white Christmas would mean a lot to me. Go ahead. Make fun.)
You can keep telling me to keep my expectations low all you want, but alas, it won't do any good. I wish it did, honestly.
Curse you, hope. You make me a terrible pessimist sometimes.
What if Cullen is the redshirt companion.
Scottie and Uhura wore red. ![]()
What if Cullen is the redshirt companion.
I laughed. I'm sorry everyone.
Scottie and Uhura wore red.
Which is why 'random ensign' is a much better name for 'em. ![]()
What if Cullen is the redshirt companion.
Heh, it would give credence to DG's comment about Cullen's last name appearing on his gravestone... #justsayin
I doubt he will be a red shirt tho since he said he has a big role.... but companion or not, redshirt or not lets just be happy that we still get to see him in the game, it could be worse he couldnt have been in the game at all.. so lets all look on the bright side even if its something that we didnt expect
What if Cullen is the redshirt companion.
Redshirt... that's the temporary ones that always die, right?
Well.. I rarely nerdrage.. but I've a feeling that'd be a situation that would.. not end prettily. And I'd probably cry harder than I did when Dumbledore bit the big one.

To be honest I'm chill as chill over the whole thing. I love Cullen as a character and would love to see him as a companion and LI, but if he's not I don't really feel I'll be upset or disappointed. Maybe because I'm curious about everyone and feel that I'll adore all the companions and be able to find LIs for my Inquisitors no matter what turns out.
I do think Cullen has much more story to tell and that it would be best told as a companion, but if the devs don't feel that same way, then I certainly don't have the right to say they're wrong. They know what their game needs better than I do...

A sort of off-topic question for everyone: is the SOP here generally to use Likes like Reddit upvotes, where you're signifying that a post contributes to the conversation well and/or that you strongly agree with it, or as in Facebook, where it generally means you're happy about it and/or strongly agree with it? I've been doing the former but I don't want to be accidentally Like-ing anyone's disappointment here if it's the latter.

I've been liking whatever I strongly agree with/amuses me/is relevant to my interests.

I like things if I like the post, agree with the post, or in the case of something negative, relate to the post.
The DG comment dashed my hopes a little, but I think he's just saying not to get your hopes up.
Remember when BioWare tried to say that the leaked survey was fake? But it wasn't? It's still possible. At this point I probably need to stop obsessing about this game so much until we get more details on it. Either way, Cullen will play a larger role in DA:I than in DA2, so there's something to be happy about.

I use it as agreement, liking what was said, and using it when I have no response to a post but I find what is said interesting.
I... Am I doing it wrong? I didn't know you could do it wrong. Is there an instruction booklet?
I... Am I doing it wrong? I didn't know you could do it wrong.
Haha. I just mean, Like-ing people's comments about anything from traumatic experiences in their past to disappointing news about something they were looking forward to would make you look like a psycho on Facebook, which is where I'm mostly used to that mechanic, so I wanted to make sure that wasn't the case here while I keep doing it.
