To be honest I'm chill as chill over the whole thing. I love Cullen as a character and would love to see him as a companion and LI, but if he's not I don't really feel I'll be upset or disappointed. Maybe because I'm curious about everyone and feel that I'll adore all the companions and be able to find LIs for my Inquisitors no matter what turns out.

I do think Cullen has much more story to tell and that it would be best told as a companion, but if the devs don't feel that same way, then I certainly don't have the right to say they're wrong. They know what their game needs better than I do...

yea I was basically sayin the same thing but in different way, Yes I would have been happy if he were to be a companion and all but if the devs dont  think it will contribute to the story then so be it , its their game in the end, However I do feel a lil bit sad but that shal soon pass  when I get to meet all the other companions, and hopefully I will like someone, but in the end Im still super excited that he is in the game at all and I think we should be thankful for that

Haha. I just mean, Like-ing people's comments about anything from traumatic experiences in their past to disappointing news about something they were looking forward to would make you look like a psycho on Facebook, which is where I'm mostly used to that mechanic, so I wanted to make sure that wasn't the case here while I keep doing it.

Oh! Well. That's a good question.

The DG comment dashed my hopes a little, but I think he's just saying not to get your hopes up.

Remember when BioWare tried to say that the leaked survey was fake? But it wasn't? It's still possible. At this point I probably need to stop obsessing about this game so much until we get more details on it. Either way, Cullen will play a larger role in DA:I than in DA2, so there's something to be happy about.

Indeed. As far as I'm concerned, there's more evidence pointing to his companion and LI status than not. So while everyone's negativity has certainly made me somewhat depressed and put me off singing my Disney songs, I'm still as hopeful as ever.

A sort of off-topic question for everyone: is the SOP here generally to use Likes like Reddit upvotes, where you're signifying that a post contributes to the conversation well and/or that you strongly agree with it, or as in Facebook, where it generally means you're happy about it and/or strongly agree with it? I've been doing the former but I don't want to be accidentally Like-ing anyone's disappointment here if it's the latter.

I've been liking whatever I strongly agree with/amuses me/is relevant to my interests. :wizard:

I like things if I like the post, agree with the post, or in the case of something negative, relate to the post.

I use it as agreement, liking what was said, and using it when I have no response to a post but I find what is said interesting.

I... Am I doing it wrong? I didn't know you could do it wrong. Is there an instruction booklet?

Yeah, I use Like so I don't have to constantly post and say, "THIS! Yeah, what she said." Which is a great improvement over the old site. And I hate that I run out of likes, because I treat it like Facebook liking and I think I should be able to Like all the things. But I'm not about to start rationing Likes because of a silly limitation.

But... I think the only way one could be doing it wrong would be to, I dunno, only Like the things you actually hate and utterly disagree with? Otherwise, however you do it is good.

(edit: seeing your clarification... I doubt anyone would take it that way, that you're "liking" that someone had a bad experience or something. I guess I just see the Likes as expressing support for that person.)

Yeah, I'd like to clarify when I liked people's posts about having PTSD recently, that was a show of support and approval of an insightful comment and addition to the discussion.

I dont think its about  negativity... I think its more about being cautions, and not expect anything, so we dont get more dissapointed later, No one cant take hope away tho we are just trying to be more cautions  about things and not expect anything super major

Same. And even if GE has recorded half or a third of what we thought he did, that's still a significant amount of dialogue for a pretty minor character from DA:O and DA2. So I'm happy to see him in any capacity.

What I'm more fearful of is what his fate will be in Inquisition. I couldn't bear it if he actually, like, ended up as a gravestone. :|

See, I'm being extra careful not to get my hopes too set on Cullen as my one-true-LI for DAI. I did that with Joker in ME3 and, man, did that mess me up. That run had no other options for what I had imagined as a Straight FemShep, so I went with Traynor. Which was... weird. Now, while I have a preference, I'm still playing the field. (Dat Solass.)

Ohhhh yeahhhh, dat Solas. I'm very hopeful of his LI status. Cullen would make me pretty happy, but I've yet to play a BioWare game that hasn't given me an LI that I've really liked. There's even been a few cases where I thought I wouldn't like them, and I ended up preferring them to the ones I thought I -would- like the most.

And I -can't wait- to see Cullen on the new engine. If Varric can be recognizable but still look so much better, I have high hopes for Cullen in that department.

I'm not sure if I'm a fan of Solas yet, but I hope that if Cullen isn't included they do have... some kind of attractive male LI. (not to say Solas isn't, just different strokes for different folks.) I wasn't really into the concept of the Grey Warden -- being a student right now, he just looks... kind of fatherly which isn't my thing haha. In DA2 my first playthrough my Hawke romanced Anders, but I wasn't particularly interested in him that much. My favorite LI in DA2 is Isabela, and I think I'll be disappointed if they don't have a male LI that really sparks my interest. :/

Well, he's only done (soon to be) 6 sessions. Who knows how many he may or may not have left.
I think the point DG was trying to make is that we shouldn't take the rumours of Cullen's companion status as gospel when nothing has been confirmed yet. Basically it's damage control.

Wait I probably missed something but I thought he said he was recording five next week. That wasn't the total number. It has to be more then five because we saw the picture of him in the booth ages ago. Why would they only schedule one session with him back then? It seems illogical lol!

That happened to me with Thane, and oh boy, it wasn't pretty. As for the others I want to see more first, especially Vivienne.

He said he'd already done five, each four hours long. He has at least one more. Whether that total includes the bits he did way back, I am uncertain.

Naw, he said he'd recorded 5 in total so far, and that he's got another one next week.

I decided not to bother with importing my Thane playthroughs after reading about that mess. Unfortunately, that was most of my playthroughs, heh.

Yeah I totally interpreted it that way too lol!

Well crap, I had thought he'd been recording the whole development time. Oh well, even if he isn't a companion or romance I'm excited that he is getting a decent amount of lines! It is really awesome that Ellis talked and responded to people's questions!

Well, lets not forget the evidence.

Cullen in the leaked survey, Cullen in multiple concept arts (War room and in the background with Solas and Dwarf Inquisitor), this synopsis from the leaked survey for the game (which seems to match up with what's been said so far about the game and with what's happening in TME:

"The great nation of Orlais, the most powerful empire in Dragon Age, tears itself apart in civil war. The stout men and women of Ferelden struggle to recover and reclaim their nation from the horde of vile Darkspawn that lay waste to its lands a decade ago. The Templar order has broken away, claiming the church has become too lax in policing the dangerous powers of the mages. The Mage circleshave rebelled, believing the Templars have become too strict, too zealous in their duties, and too quick to slaughter those who step out of line.

"The world of Dragon Age is one on the brink of collapse, and when a desperate gathering in the name of peace becomes the epicentre of a magical blast that decimates the Chantry's leadership, it becomes clear that someone or something is manipulating events to drive the world into chaos.

"From the ashes of that explosion, something new rises: The Inquisition. As the Inquisitor, it falls to you to build up your power and martial your forces, uncover secrets and build connections across the world. You must explore forgotten spaces, uncover ancient mysteries and uproot those who would destroy the fabric of the world."

Then there's Greg's first photo of him doing VO in the booth from a while back. Then there's his recent tweets, his admission that yes he is a companion and romanceable (with a very resounding YES), then there's the "raunchy" dialogue and talking sexy dialogue into a mic, etc, etc.

So Gaider is doing damage control. So Greg deleted a couple of tweets that maybe shouldn't have gotten out. He's still doing more VO in the coming week, and he could be doing more after that.

My gut tells me he's in as a companion and LI.

I don't blame you, my Thane playthough unfortunately was on my main FemShep that I started with from ME1. I better quit bringing up old bitter feelings.

Hugs all around:
