Is he wearing a skirt?

I think the concept art is quite interesting , it doesn't give a shiny armor kind of feeling.
Feels like the character been thru some stuff , I'm not a big fan of the fur ...maybe hints that templar are going a bit feral.
Cullen always seems to me like a clean armor kind of guy , he may be going a bit wild with every thing falling apart.

I like to think that it's the first time he's not had to wear a proper Templar uniform in public so he's jazzed his outfit up a little to reflect his personality. Of course he still has his little Templar insignia on his skirt/tabard thingy but that's probably more of a sentimental statement than anything else lol.

LOL actually, just looking at his little concept picture again, his outfit looks like he's taken bits and pieces from his Templar uniform (like the sash) and turned it into part of his furry scarf thing. He looks very... Feral, like he's just done an epic journey at the spur of the moment, during which he had to grab any items of clothing he could find in a hurry and just put them all on before escaping Kirkwall.

I like it! It's kinda quirky!

So Cullen still has the sword of mercy on his little tabard-y thing. So whether he sticks with the Chantry or not (maybe dependent on your choices/hardening?) I think it's really smart for him to continue to wear it. Especially with mages in the party.

"I am Ser Cullen, and I am on an important mission for the Chantry escorting these dangerous apostates to Val Royeaux. Let me pass."

"I am Ser Cullen, and I am on an important mission for the Chantry escorting these dangerous apostates to Val Royeaux. I'd consider it a kindness toward the Maker if you'd give us some supplies."

"I am Ser Cullen, and I am on an important mission for the Chantry escorting these dangerous apostates to Val Royeaux. May we stay in your barn? I assure you these fiends are under control."

Let's hope that isn't standard Templar uniform though... Although I would imagine the Orlesian Templar uniform is completely OTT and covered in pretties.

I miss Cullen having a full skirt. He'll always be a full-length templar skirt wearing man in my head. ;)

As for that furry/feathery thing... did Cullen raid Anders' closet or did he steal it from mage Hawke's Champion armor?!?

LOL it is very Anders isn't it!

Apparently clothing is interchangeable so we will probably be able to let him wear one

The outfit is actually a little more flashy than I thought it would be. I always had him down as a man of simple tastes LOL!

Just as long as Cullen hasn't been infused with the spirit of Justice. XD

What a horrible thought! Just when he thought his life couldn't get any worse - he becomes an abomination!

Clearly he has a few surprises for us.

There are a few similarities between his armor and the Orlesian Templar armor from Dawn of the Seeker:

I'm hoping nothing Orlesian will look like it did in DotS, everything was so washed out.

Agreed.

(I've gotta run, but hopefully I'll have more time in the upcoming weeks to hang out here -- life has been far too busy this summer.)

psssh. Haters.  Posted Image  I love the fur, personally. It looks snuggly, and you know Cullen's too "clean cut" to let it get matted and dirty!

Of course, this from the girl who's rooting for Big Bearded Grey Warden Guy (BBGWG) as a romanceable companion. Maybe that needs a support thread...

So I was looking through someones Tumblr and you can use a doll maker to make concept art like that of the "leaked" survey art. I also saw someone on Tumblr who had done there own version of an Orlesian Templar and it was in the same style as Cassandra and that Warden's concept armor pictures. Make me think it's easier than we think to create a fake leak.

Yup, which is why I was so skeptical. I was in the middle of typing up a long post about how somebody with even marginal artistic ability could use design elements from the known concept art to create dupes and got called back to work. Find an image that looks good, stick it on a gradient gray background, paint a little shadow around the feet, and you're set.

The red flags I saw:
-- Cullen's head really, really looks photoshopped.
-- The male with the partizan (trident-like spear) reminds me of something I once saw in an Osprey "Men at War" book.
-- The poses for the known concept art are very similar, but there is no consistency in the others. The known concept art has static poses, but some of the others are action poses and rely on props.
-- The shadows around the feet are wrong. On the two known concept art characters, the shadows are diffuse, pale, and cover a large portion of the "floor". On the others, the shadows are smaller "puddles," darker, and seem to follow the contours of the shape more.
-- WTF with the girl. She looks as if she's holding a palette and a paintbrush. Will we be recruiting artists, now? That ought to help against the templars. "Stop right there or I'll paint your portrait!"
-- Lack of cohesive art style. The two known concept art portraits contain familiar elements (useless cords and fiddly-bits on the armor, massive shoulders, sharp contrasts and clean lines, trim silhouettes). I'm no artist, but the other portraits don't seem to have the same cohesion.
-- Can you imagine the fits the bell-like skirt on Cigarette Girl would give the animators? It would clip with *everything*.

As for the tweets, not sure if it would be Cullen. If the tweeter were the writer, would she describe the acting of her own lines as dreamy?

Anyway, we will find out eventually. The curiosity may kill us, but we'll know in the end.

Maybe that's the armor he starts out with.

Kind of like what Aveline started with and so on...

OMG, I have a feeling he'll be in the gang this time. And maybe they are teasing us, but maybe they like to keep the ball rollin!:wizard:

Berelinde: The tweeter wasn't the writer of the dialogue, she was editing it, took a liking to a couple of the characters that she'd been editing and then sat in on the VO session with the writer of said character.

You know Cullen's furry new outfit reminds me a bit of Alistair's concept art. anyone have that handy? My graphics capabilities are iPad-limited.

EDIT: Posted Image

OK I guess not as much as I was recalling. Prob just BW's fondness for those same shoulder pieces.

But my thought on the newly shortened skirt? Easier access.:P With the old skirt, he still had to be wearing pants and armor under it like in the concept art... But now with fewer yards of fabric...

OOh! Well, that changes everything... about the tweets, anyway.

And yeah, I'm liking the shorter skirt for Cullen, if they decide to go that route.

Edit: And I'm finally getting around to writing that fraidy-Cullen horse-washer piece now. As it turns out, it will be the first thing I post to my new AO3 account. I'll be moving everything there eventually, but this will do for a starter.

So, it's been a few day since we discussed it, but I was just reminded of another reference to the Inquisition as bad (as opposed to merely my interpretation of other BW sources). It's in the Seeker of Truth codex, which says: "the Inquisition once hunted heretics and cultists as well as mages, and their reign of terror ended only with the inception of the Circle of Magi." Dunno, reign of terror sounds pretty bad. Still begs the question of why they would use the same name if the new Inquisition is supposed to be good.
