So, it's been a few day since we discussed it, but I was just reminded of another reference to the Inquisition as bad (as opposed to merely my interpretation of other BW sources). It's in the Seeker of Truth codex, which says: "the Inquisition once hunted heretics and cultists as well as mages, and their reign of terror ended only with the inception of the Circle of Magi." Dunno, reign of terror sounds pretty bad. Still begs the question of why they would use the same name if the new Inquisition is supposed to be good.

The Cerebrus thing? Working for the Shadow Thieves/Bodhi? BioWare likes to make us work for the bad guy.

That said, there's no guarantee that we will be Inquisitors. I'd take it with a carton of salt.

Edit: I keep neglecting to quote the post above me and then inadvertently starting a new page. Infuriating.

Exactly, it sounds bad doesn't it lol. Maybe they're using it as a stand in name for the survey?

It's the use of the name "Inquisition" that sets off the biggest alarm bells. It's the biggest reason not to believe the leak because not only had they used the inquisition before as a historical group in the codex etc, but they've painted a horrible picture of what the original inquisition was like. Granted, the characters in-game might decide to call their new "order" that for historical reasons, but I'm sure the DA team would want to come up with a brand new name with no previous emotional connotations.

I think a lot more people would believe the survey leak if this new fictional movement had a completely new name.

I was thinking, if the leaks are true and we get the option to recruit both Cullen and Cole, what do you think Cullen's reaction would be? Baring in mind that Cole appears to be some sort of demon-y possible blood Mage.

The leak doesn't have to be true for both Cullen and Cole to be companions. Both have been discussed extensively on the forums for much, much longer than 1 week.

I could see them having a very difficult relationship. Cullen would want to smite Cole, and Cole would want to avoid Cullen. Despite his stabby tendencies, Cole isn't vicious. He prefers to be left alone... which is something Cullen would find difficult to understand. Cole is incredibly loyal, though. If the PC gained his trust, Cole would die (or kill) before he betrayed that trust. That might be key to keeping them in the party together.

I know, I was just talking hypothetically.

Maybe what might happen this time is something along this...If you recruit companion A you won't be able to recruit companion B or C because they won't like joining you on your quest with those ppl in the group.

Also, back to Cullen's (in theory) new look. Maybe we get him tagging along as he's leaving the chantry or maybe he'll tag along for other reasons. Maybe, depending on your character, he'll go either way but for different reasons.

Example. you're a mage and convince him chantry bad.
You're a rogue, chantry good, help me out bro!

OK, so hypothetically, what do you think their relationship will be? I'm delighted to talk about normal fan-thread things instead of mad speculation, for a change.:D

If this leak is real then I'll be really interest to see what reason they give for the protagonist to be in the area where the peace gathering is being held, especially as not every player would want to be there to support the Chantry or whatever. Maybe the protagonist will start out with a temporary mini companion who he/she likes to hang out with, to which they would ask why the protagonist wants to go to the gathering and you could respond with a choice of 3 or 4 replies, for example:

Temp companion: "Er, why do you want to go to this thing anyway? Didn't have you down as the political sort"

Protagonist: A) "I care about the well fare of the people of Thedas". B) "I dunno, I'm just curious and we're in the area anyway". C) "Look at all those nobles crowded around the Divine with pockets full of coin... C'mon *insert name* you'll be able to drown yourself in wine and women for the next month!". D) "I hear Knight Captain Cullen's gonna be there, have you seen dat ass?!"

Temp companion: "Ha! You protagonist are a genius. Let's go!"/ "Wow, that's very noble of you"/ "Well, we haven't got anything better planned"

*Sh!t hits the fan, your temp companion/friend dies a nasty death and the adventure begins... Whilst you stare at Cullen fine arse.*

Dunno. He seems to me to be a man of conviction. He knows right and wrong. Both your mage and rogue lines would still work here because he understands the duality of his (prior) allegiance, but I'm thinking that if he does go along with the PC, it will be because he sees the greater good in it, not because he's impressionable.

This is just my take on it! I'd never ever say anything so foolish as "Only I know the one true NPC!" so whatever interpretation you have is just as valid as mine.

Between Cullen and Cole? Hard to say, depends if Cole is actually a Demon and if he is a Demon then has he some how managed to develope "nice" tendencies. I think to begin with Cullen would probably freak out and maybe refuse to work with the protagonist, but maybe if Cole proves himself over time then Cullen will come to respect him and maybe even protect him from harm?

I'm not sure that Cole is a demon. Or not a demon in the traditional sense. I got the feeling from something DG once posted that Cole isn't a demon, nor is he a ghost. I'm almost positive he said that he's something we haven't encountered yet. Of course, at that point, he sounded genuinely bemused about why anybody would even want Cole as a companion. Then again, my memory is absolute fecal material.I may have it all wrong.

Personally, I'm intrigued. And I'm intrigued about how Cullen would react to it all.

In other news, the horse story is about half done.

Oooo another thought. What if we run into Knight-Commander Greagoir (if he's not dead) in DA3 and he's working on the side of the rebel Templars? What do you suppose Cullen's reaction would be? The man done a lot for him, especially during his "break down" after the Broken Circle event... But at the same time I'm not sure Cullen would stand by and let him partake in morally wrong activities. Maybe he would try to convince Greagoir to stand down and only kill him if he had absolutely no choice.

Wouldn't Cole be a highly inefficient companion? With people forgetting and not seeing him all the time?

He'd be good at sneaking around and finding out top secret information lol.

He was learning to control it towards the end though, if I recall correctly.

I would absolutely love having Cullen as a companion and love interest. I've wanted to know more about him overall and wanted him to be a companion since Origins. Greg Ellis' short little tweet of doing Cullen voice work is exciting but I don't want to get my hopes up just yet. Fingers crossed he'll be a companion/love interest or at least a main character with lots of dialogue and is vital to the plot.

afaik Cole learned how to make people NOT see him even better, not the other way around :) Evangeline had to write bits down in order to remember who he was. After their visit to the Fade it was better, but that went away fast. Just saying, unless you're playing Rhys, it might be tricky to have him as a companion.

Was it ever made known why the litany worked on Cole if he's not a demon? I don't recall.

Maybe they can put Cole in as an activated companion for just Rhys, like Dog in DA2. I don't know what you'd use him for though, other than sneaking around in his invisibility cloak of the Fade.

I think the litany breaks mind control spell...
I'm not actually sure it does anything to a demon , it's just a spell breaking thing .

Seems like Rhys was mind controled by Cole , from the POV of Cole in the book , It seems he himself isn't aware of it ,and the lithany seemed to made him realise things (mind controlled too?)
But Cole has a lot of problem with his magic ,being invisible might also be a spell he cast without realising it.
Or he may be an abomination who doesn't know he's one.
