I'm still confused about why they announce Cullen as a LI, but not confirm him as a companion? Unless, he's not actually a companion but an important NPC (for now, I don't see any other reason then Cullen being a NPC.

Re: varric I think that was just an example of a jokey relationship? Like, there will be an LI who likes to joke around with you and likes you more if you do so. That's all I took from it.

And my optimism and me will be hiding in the "maybe there are temp companions / a Bethany Carver situation so cullen can still be in" camp.

Legitimately, I'm genuinely confused! I mean, I don't know ALL the things, but of the stuff I do know some of this new info doesn't quite add up... so now I dunno what's correct and what isn't.

I suppose it's always possible for the IB to wield a greatsword but have rogue like abilities. I mean, the dude is huge, I can't see him swinging around little teeny tiny daggers. If it's anything like Origins, it was possible to have a warrior dual wielder/archer. Maybe the IB is just special like that. I don't know how companion classes are going to work exactly.

 

Or Cullen isn't a companion. Either works.

Maybe he's a custom class,kinda like the Arishok in DA2...Phew!This whole thing brought me a headache!

Ok, let's look at what we do know:

 

• Cullen is important in some way, Greg Ellis said as much and his recording sessions indicate that he's got a sizable role
• Cullen is 100% confirmed as romanceable

So already that's a damn sight better than what we've got out of him in previous games! As for everything else, hell even I'm not sure anymore LOL!

Did you know there would be the year extension? Perhaps the extra year changed things up from what you were told.

Thank you for all the nice reactions and invitations regarding my former posts. It made me smile a little and helped rising my mood a bit. =)

But while i'm actually really liking Cullen as a character (i'm a bit torn on the romance and companion stuff, though), i don't think i could contribute or add much to this lovely place (or the forum in general). Especially with all the talented and passionate people here. And i definitely don't trust my handling the english language well enough (if at all) to last anything more then a couple of sentences without screwing something horribly up. I've always been a verry quite person, too.

 

And besides, you're way to fast for me to keep up anyway, in all your squeeing and discussing glory.^^

Well, even if he's not a companion, we're going to be seeing a lot of him for them to include him as a romance. I don't think DA would pull an Allers-like romance with him...

 

I mean, I'm still liking the fact that he has a large enough role to create friendship or romance, but god exploring Orlais with him would just make the game for me

Maybe they thought it was implied? Remember this is just coming from word of mouth, they very well could have said companion somewhere in there, and LadyInsanity just neglected to mention that bit. She seems to be writing things on the fly, so can't blame the girl for missing a detail here or there.

That means Cullen isn't a companion, I suppose. Since all of the Warrior spots are already taken.

NDAs can be a pain, yeah. I've only been under NDAs for EverQuest 2 expansion packs (closed betas), but sheesh. It's been a while, so I can't remember if it was actually a part of the NDAs or not, but even so much as admitting that you had been accepted into a closed beta and were under an NDA (to someone that was not in closed beta, obviously) was seriously frowned upon in the community.

I forget that you're an EQer as well. Those were the only ones I'd been NDA'd for as well. (Well, actually, beta'ing the roleplay server in eq1 was the only one I was actually NDA'd for, I think. )
