I don't think it was confirmed that he's not a companion.

 

Even if he isn't I think we'll still get a great story with him.

 

But yes, I would love him as a companion too. I think it might happen because he's got tones of training that would help in battle.

PAX confirmed that there are 3/3/3 split. Iron Bull is confirmed to be a 2 hander, so the Grey Warden is either out or a rogue. His concept art gives him a sword and shield

 

What we know so far is

3 warriors: Cassandra, Iron Bull, Grey Warden

3 mages: Vivienne, Solas, Dramatic Hand Guy???

3 rogues: Sera, Varric, Cole???

 

Maybe they make Grey Warden a rogue or Cullen a rogue. It doesn't look good at this point, but yeah, I should lose hope. Cullen exists as long as you believe in him, like Easter bunny or Obama.

We've seen him with a 2h sword in DAO and in DA2 he was a shield and sword kind of dude. Maybe will all of his 'spare' time, he trains like a mad man. So maybe he has hidden talents.

There was some confusion about this, because some took this to mean he wielded a two-handed sword (warrior) while others took it to mean he dual-wielded (likely rogue.) I don't think we've had this clarified for sure either way.

 

Like I said, I do think he's a companion personally, but I feel like we need to stay pretty clear about what is officially confirmed and what isn't.

@Obito Same here. I could have sworn that I read via Dev that scribe girl was not a companion. I don't even think it was David Gaider. But I cant remember where I had seen it.

I love talking about companion possibilities because that means lists and interesting use of capital letters!

 

KNOWN CHARACTERS AND PROBABLE CLASS: Cassandra {W}, the Grey Warden {W}, the Iron Bull {W}, Cullen {W}, the Blonde Elf {R}, Varric {R}, Cole {R}, Vivienne {M}, Solas, DHMG {M}

 

That's a total of ten characters. Someone's got to go. (Maybe even multiple someones.)

 

Alright, so, assuming that it is a 3/3/3 system (yes, it is PAX, but the statement could be misinterpreted), my guess for companions:

 

WARRIORS: Cassandra, Grey Warden, Cullen

ROGUES: Blonde Elf, Varric, Cole OR Unseen Female

MAGES: Vivienne, Solas, DHMG

 

And Iron Bull is an NPC, possibly an antagonist.

 

 

Now, if it was a misinterpretation and they meant that there would be choice enough between all classes, then:

 

WARRIORS: Cassandra, Grey Warden, Cullen, Iron Bull

ROGUES: Blonde Elf, Varric

MAGES: Vivienne, Solas, DHMG

 

 

Is this last one likely? No. But it's still a chance.

 

 

LI's: Cullen (I get to write that and no one can second-guess meeee), Cassandra, Sera, Solas

 

That way there is a distribution of classes in the LI's.

i think Cullen and Solas are gonna be our main LI's--and yes, companions. But I also think/suspect that there might be a third one in there. Some kinda way...

 

But Cullen Solas companion/LI kinda fits their blueprint of available LI's. A human male and an elf.

Keep in mind that Sera and the Grey Warden were shown on-screen together, so if Sera is confirmed then the Grey Warden is likely in as well. He's also in a lot of the concept arts.
