There's also the fact that Cullen was an 'outsider' and Kirkwall doesn't seem too fond of Fereldens anyway. So it's also possible that those who knew what was going on (and didn't agree with it, of course) didn't go to him to talk about their concerns just because 'ew, one of those Ferelden dogs'. Doesn't that one letter, with Ser Alrik threatening the young Templar, say he tried to go straight to Meredith? So obviously he didn't even think to talk to Cullen.

This just brought to mind another thing: Aveline is also a Fereldan dog-lord. So Kirkwall now has 2 law enforcement types in major positions that aren't native sons as it were. And it did seem as though Cullen was attempting to make nice with the populace at large.

But Aveline was born in Orlais, right? So at least not 100% Ferelden... Seeing Aveline worked her way up by disposing of corrupt leaders has probably given her a lot of goodwill among the citizens of Kirkwall. Templars have probably less direct contact with the general public, except for arresting mages and stealing away their mage children. Put on top of that Merediths coupe, and well... I can see why the public is not that fond of templars. So indeed: poor Cullen...

I don't think Free Marcher natives are too fond of any outsiders, heh.

It gets off topic and also way too goofy for me. I feel like a crotchety old man with a pitch fork, but the endless series of gifs and penis jokes is just too much for me sometimes!

While I'm definitely not going to claim I've never gone off topic/gotten goofy myself, I'm really surprised Allan hasn't spanked us there yet.

We know he definitely lurks.

Maybe he remembers them 'good olde Cullenites' from here and sees that most of the derailers/goofy-ers are others, so does not want to 'punish' us for that? Ok, I have surely no idea :)

I'd rather not refer to newer posters as "others", honestly. Creating a sense of "old timer" superiority is plain just not a good idea.

Yeah, this. It sort of makes all the older posters sound like elitists? And that's not something we should want.   :?

sorry, that is not what I meant to say :) I meant it in a way of 'not punish a minority for behavior of a majority'. Everyone is welcome imo, here or in the new thread. And I definately do not feel 'superior' to anyone.

We've always had a good atmosphere in here, welcome to anyone, and who cares if you come for Cullen or the company? Just a good place where you can speak your mind without having to dodge flamethrowers. Haven't been to the new thread in a while, but what I have seen is that, overall, the same atmosphere is present there. That is not a matter of 'old vs new', but a general public who likes that. I still hide from the general fora, or just lurk, as the trolls and big-mouthed-fanatics tend to be the most vocal members of the public.

Aww, we are not elitists. We are hipster-Cullenites. "We loved Cullen before it was mutual."  :D

Kidding, of course. :)

I wish BioWare shared a screenshot of Cullen. I want to see the embroidery on his outfit, it's very important. I've been watching some videos, and there is a picture of a military stronghold, and some banners are red with golden embroidery, and they made me think of Cullen's new outfit.

I have important reasons, lol :D  I'm drawing this super-duper-epic-shmepic picture, and I have no idea which coat of arms I should slap on Cullen's manly chest.
I thought about a Templars' flaming sword, but more and more it looks like Cullen doesn't represent the templars anymore. I suppose I'll roll with the Inquisition coat of arms. Like, my Inquisitor named him her champion in a trial by combat, and so he'll be kicking butts for goodness in her name :) Not that she can't do it herself, but why bother if somebody else can do it for you?

Wheeee! My request for holiday got approved, so I should be able to play DA:I for 1,5 weeks non-stop... *cough* well ok, not totally non-stop... Should get it from a good supplier this time though, last time it was rubbish...

It appears as if Cullen is no longer bearing a templar symbol in the DA:I trailer, so I guess he could indeed wear the inquisition symbol instead. As is said in the vid: 'whatever we have been in the past, we are now the inquisition' (or something like that).

No, no news on Cullen. BioWare announced the uber edition, but it costs like a flight to the moon, and it's not for all countries, so I don't bother :)

Your cosplay looks awesome! :)

I also calculated how much lyrium Knight-Captain Evangeline was consuming. She used 4 doses in 14 days, so I guess you need a dose every 3-4 days to be ok. Then, she said, if she runs out of lyrium, she'll have a week before she starts feeling really bad, and then she'll go insane. Wow. I just want to hug the templars now. I pity mages too, but what Chantry does to templars... Making people addicted like that... This must be changed too! And I want a magical cure for Cullen, please. Because if he reaches the point where a templar can't separate the memories from the present, he'll just go crazy, because Uldred will return to torture him.  :crying:

Yeah, I saw the collectors edition. Looks awesome, but will it stay for certain countries only? Not going to be a happy panda if that is the case... Been shelfing enough cash to afford the CE, and I like the goodies that come with it.

Thanks for your compliment about the costume! Slowly but steadily it is getting somewhere :) I actually mailed Jessica to ask some questions about the templar costume, but have not yet received an answer yet.

And I agree that the lyrium addiction is quite a problem... It is also why I have a soft spot for the templars: the chantry makes them addicts. I expect that this will be a red line in DA:I too, with all the  rogue templars running amok. How about the red templars? They are completely insane already, but would they still need their dose of (red) lyrium? ... what if red lyrium is the only way to cure the regular lyrium addiction? :crying: :crying: :crying:

I hope Jessica will reply to you soon, she's probably just busy :)

I think it may be how the Red Templars happened. They broke away from the Chantry, because the Divine was kind of pro-mage (or so they thought), and the Chantry stopped sending them lyrium. They traded with Carta while they had money, but I believe the money also comes from the Chantry, so eventually thet had to... start usung Meredith's statue. I suppose they didn't want to, but they had no choice when cravings got bad. Or at least maybe that's how it happened in Kirkwall. Or maybe not. I hope Cullen will tell us what happened in Kirkwall. I need to know!

No Templars under Cullen would have gone Red Templar. They saw first hand what that lyrium did.  Most of the power hungry Templars are dead by that point, and Cullen has become more assertive and more of a rational thinker.

Maybe they thought little bits won't do much harm, but would satisfy the cravings? Maybe they couldn't think clearly, because Meredith's lyrium statue started influencing their minds, and they were in withdrawal. Maybe they didn't figure out why Meredith went crazy, maybe they assumed she became possessed by a demon, and lyrium had nothing to do with it.

Yeah. Jessica mentioned on Twitter that her mom had cancer surgery recently, so I think she's probably behind on a lot of that type of correspondence due to needing to take care of family stuff. I'm sure she'll answer when she gets a chance. :)

Oh, would not have bothered her if I'd known this :( Poor thing has enough on her head mind (edited for proper English).

I wonder how wellknown the danger of red lyrium is. Hawke and his/her party know, but what about others? I'm not sure if Cullen would know either. The link Meredith + idol is not that obvious if you do not know what happened to Bartrand. She could as well have been possessed by a pride demon or something similar. And once they would find out... I guess those templars are getting such a bad backlash from the lyrium addiction that they won't care anymore. If you can't get your hands on the regular stuff anymore, you go for the next best thing (even if that is actually a lot worse) Same as for 'regular' drug addicts: you know it will destroy you, but you can't resist it anyway. Dang, I almost start to feel sorry for the red templars :( (unless they have chosen to use it on purpose...)

And the relatively new Cullenite, CheshireKat hung her head in shame. For she knew that she too is guilty of OTness and gifs. She then skulked her way back to the New Cullen Thread. For she knew that this comment was too, an OT comment.

I also thought that nobody really knew anything about it, or what really happened to Meredith. For a templar it would look like a demonic possession, besides Cullen already saw this happening before with Wilmod, so he might have thought Meredith went crazy because of a demon, and not because of the lyrium sword.

The good olde Cullenites thing was a joke :) I'm sorry if it offended you. OT and gifs are fun, but sometimes interesting discussions and news are difficult to find among them.

BTW, for people who don't go to the 3.0 thread, the Cullen group has some new topics, and there is also a chat for offtop. You need to ender your nickname and #Cullenites to join it.

Edit, wow! I own all the top posts today, look at that!

Glad to hear that Ches, cause really, the last thing I want is to offend the new people :)

And surely going to check out the safe haven (admit I haven't been there in ages...) and the chatthingy once I'm back home.

Here's the latest page of one of my fave fan comics from one of my fave artists.

Now, this is the latest page, Cullen is not a main in it, but she's recently doing a back story on her Amell, and he's in there. Loving it!
