I don't think they would force us into being a religious zealots....I think David Gaider said as much.
I don't like the idea to have a pc who does things in the name of the Maker....
I mean i kind of like the chantry...but i don't like being part of any group.
Even being a warden bothered me on some level , cause i found them a bit scary when it comes to sacrifice almost anything to stop a Blight.

That's why i liked DA2 and Hawke , they had no agenda ...almost like a group of mercenary that set their own moral ground.

Seriously, though, if Wade and Herren were in it, that might influence my purchasing decisions. I love those guys!

Woot! Woot! Mama got her internet back!

Just jumping for my undying love for crazy Wade and pissy Herren! I'll be back later. Image IPB

Berelinde: Wade would be in his element in Orlais!

But yeah, it does make me wonder if we will be shoehorned into being a religious man/woman in terms of aligning with the Chantry/Templars/Seekers. I personally don't mind too much because I'd just try to ignore that in favour of the story, but I can see why people would be angry about it.

I kinda feel like Bioware wouldn't do that, but it wouldn't surprise me if it did happen.

I wish I could ignore it, but I can't. Long story, personal drama, the kind of thing that really needs to stay off the boards, etc.

At the end of the day, I have spent over $700 on BioWare games since 1998, excluding gifts to friends but including duplicate copies to replace ones that have worn out due to use. I don't know if they'd miss me if I left, but they might miss my money.

Well, I hope that this Inquisition thing doesn't end up being religiously affiliated (unless the player chooses to be), I'd say I want the leak to be fake, but there are certain aspects to it that I'd really like to be in the game (like Cullen as a companion/LI) and aside from the Inquisitor part, the story does sound pretty interesting.

Heh. I wouldn't be here if I didn't want Cullen as a companion. I'm still hoping for that mage/templar love triangle!

Anyway, there's a "dealbreaker" thread up. So far, a lot of the replies have been "protagonist with a fixed affiliation". Hopefully, they'll pay attention.

I think, If they pay attention to the forum and Internet in general then they'll know that most people like:

Cullen, Morrigan, Silent Protagonists, Voiced Protagonists, Choices and nothing at all lol.

4 of those 6 choices are easily implimented.

Something that I'm curious about (regarding the leaked descriptions) is where it says:

"Take the Inquisitor's cloak and lead the only force able of bringing light into the darkness."

Ha! Conclusive proof that it's a fake. This is Dragon Age we're talking about. There's no such thing as cloaks!

I kid, I kid.

I know that I get rabid at times, but I really am trying to wait and see how it all pans out. Patience is difficult when it's all we seem to be talking about, though. I just get anxious when you combine the whole Inquisitor thing with DG's tirade about how there aren't any atheists in Thedas. You know what I'm saying?

Yeah that confused  me a bit. Was he saying that the word, and essentially, the concept of atheism, doesn't exist in the world of Dragon Age because it's a real world concept or?...
Gaider is usually pretty straightforward and easy to get, but this had me saying "wha?" :wizard:

Aaaand I do not think I have ever said why I want Cullen as a companion. Besides the fact he's a tortured Bioware blondie boy.
I like the idea of a companion that we (the player) know quite a bit about, but at the same time know so little.
How/why'd he join the templars? Does he have a mother who sends him fresh muffins every week? Would he lick a lampost in winter?!
Ahem.

You forgot the kitchen sink. Some people just want the impossible. The sense of entitlement on some is just astounding to me. Image IPB

I wouldn't want a forced affiliation either. Let me chose. Give me the full picture and I'll deside what's right for my character, please. (See there - I said please. Now they HAVE to give me what I want. LOL)

Did I mention that at some point? If not, I intended to.

That whole known-but-not-known element makes him very attractive as a potential companion.

Agreed. This idea is very intriguing to me. Is he really the gung ho Chantry boy? Does he blindly believe everything they tell him? Why the skirt? Does it breathe better than trousers? And what exactly is under there anyway?Image IPB

Agreed. It's also something we've not experienced yet. It's like he's someone we as the player can relate to and feel kinda safe with because we already know him and he's been right there in both games experiencing the same things we have, but at the same time he's a complete unknown in terms of personality (beyond the little we've already seen), likes/dislikes and personal history prior to DA:O and between DA2/DA3.

A real men never wear anything under his skirt!
Well , that's what i like to think anyway.
Might not be really glorious if the weather is really cold ...

Anyway mostly i like to know thing like why he became a templar ,it seems to me in believe in the order...And he seems a bit pious.

And i kind of like him to mention his crush on my Amell ...

I also like stupid little details about characters...I remember Fenris mentionning he likes apples.
It's nothing but i like to know about those little things.

It's the little things that bring the characters to life.

So what are everyone's thoughts on Cullen's "new look" if the concept art is legit? What do you think about him wearing trousers now?

Already transitioned with Anders and his pant wearing ways, so this will be no biggie.

Oh Maker... I really hope he DOES wear something under his skirt. Feeling the breeze and all is fine, but just having stuff dangle there... /mental image

He's doubly modest now: trousers *and* a skirt!

We used to joke around about Anders's chastity coat. It seems that Cullen has been taking notes.

Trousers are awesome. At least now you can see shapely legs instead of a big skirt hiding stuff..like knees. Knees are important.

But it is possible to have too much of a good thing.

LOL I hope he was wearing something under his skirt, you wouldn't wanna take a shield to that area in combat, could pose problems when it comes to sexy time.

I like the trousers, we can see the shape of his body now (or the bottom half at least lol), rather than him being covered head to toe in metal and loose fabric. He doesn't seem so untouchable anymore, he looks more personable and approachable.

Approachable Cullen. Is that some kinda weird oxymoron?

That touches on something that I hope they preserve with him. He wasn't approachable. He seemed almost painfully introverted, at times, wearing his game face instead of actually communicating with people. Obviously, he's going to have to let that guard down if he's going to be a LI, but I'd like it to be a challenge. Getting close to Cullen should be *hard*.

I didn't mean literally touchable, he'd probably have issues with that LOL! But I mean physically he looks like he would be approachable etc, so when the protagonist actually talks to him he/she would realise that he's kinda awkward etc. I just think it would be a nice contrast that would make his personality more poignant.

I found Fenris really hard to romance, especially as a friendship... I never did fully manage it, but maybe that's a glitch in my game?

I'm back from pig chasing! Hate those things...always escaping...

Anywho, I like Cullen's trousers, as you guys have said, you can see his shape which I love very much. It also looks more unique, instead of him looking like a templar clone. Also it makes him look a bit warmer, not like some metal man.

I didn't have that big an issue romancing Fenris. I like that it wasn't easy. I just wish that some of that angst would've been relieved at some point. I do hope that whatever issues they give Cullen, they will eventually yield a bit to a more relaxed man if only around your character in private.
