I loved him in DAO and in DA2. I'm sure with having to have go against the Knight Commander and his ordeal in Kinloch has given his character strength, but also made him tired. He might have just had enough with the order by then. So there are so many opportunities for some great stories and conversations with him, depending on the options and dialogue your main would choose.
Things that might also come into factor, might be if you played as Amell in DAO and died saving Ferelden. I think that might have an effect on him. Weather your Hawke was with or against the templars in DA2. If your Hawke was a mage and sided with them, might show him that not all mages are the same and some can be trusted...
I'm hoping that he's in DA3, but I won't get my hopes up too high. I will wait patiently. The longer the game takes to come out, the more promising it might be. Maybe with the possibility of having Cullen in there. I just want him to be well written and not die lol

I like that he's definitely matured from his DA:O naivete, but I also think it would be cute to still see a bit of stuttering when it comes to the ladies. For example, I still see him being completely oblivious to the legion of
But, a 30-something year old virgin? I agree that perhaps it would be more interesting (in a been-there-done-that-with-Alistair sort of way) for him to not be a virgin, but just never having been in love. Despite whatever vows they take, you know the Blooming Rose must get a lot of templar customers... I could actually see him having, like, a regular appointment with someone who he likes & trusts, in some kind of non-tawdry arrangement. Hmm... plot bunny...?

OMG, didn't see this at first. LMAO Chesty FTW!LolaLei wrote...
Lol our next PC: "Chesty La Rue" former employee of The Blooming Rose :-D
On a more serious note, hmm, that would actually be an interesting story if he fell in love with someone like that, given his probably prurient upbringing. Unlikely for a PC to have such... colorful, LI-specific issues, but in general, it would be nice for both halves of the couple to have issues instead of the PC being the "fixer."

Lol I'm glad you liked that!
Maybe even have the PC been treated badly by templars in the past so when Cullen kicks off about the mages the PC (especially if also a mage) can go into his/her own little rant about poor treatment at the hands of the templars etc.

It's a shame, I didn't even know there's a thread for Cullen! So I'm kinda late to the party, but I still feel the urgent need to express my utter love for him
He's my favorite NPC by far, has been since DAO. My Amell had quite the crush on him, and my Hawkes were completely distracted by him whenever they entered the Gallows. Here's hoping he will be an LI in DA3, not only because he's gorgous, but mostly because he would surely make for a hell of an interesting party member. Especially if DA3's plot revolves a lot around the mage/templar-conflict, which I think is more than likely.

I'm thinking (hoping) DA3 will feel bigger and more epic with more places to visit, thus giving all the characters more time to grow and expand personality wise, giving us more options to explore relationships etc (like in DA:O.)
... Also I want my new PC to be able to shag him outside... in the rain. LOL!

So I was thinking about whether or not they should make Cullen a virgin again, obviously they've already done the whole virgin templar thing with Alistair soooo I reckon that Cullen should tell the new PC in DA3 that he has a little experience with women and that he had one or two encounters after DA:O between becoming Knight Captain in Kirkwall in order to try and get Amell out of his head (if we played as a mage Warden.)
Please no more virgins! There should be enough fodder for good story lines without having to address this. Little experience is fine. It goes with my whole "take charge kinda guy" fantasy that I've conjured for myself.

I had completely forgotten that they'd already done the whole virgin templar thing with Alistair until earlier... because he'd only been an initiate and didn't behave like a templar it completely slipped my mind, so I think Bioware will probably take the following route with Cullen's back story regarding past "romantic experiences":
Cullen will get to know the new PC in DA3 and start to have feelings for her blah blah blah, eventually they'll have "the talk" and he will confess that he's had very little experience with women but the one or two encounters he has had occured after the events of DA:O and between becoming Knight Captain in Kirkwall. The experiences were purely a physical thing in an attempt to get the mage Amell out of his head during a drunken self pitying phase (if we played as a mage Warden) IF you didn't play as a female mage then he'd say something like he'd had one or two encounters, purely physical to ease his loneliness and that he's never been in love because he was scared of getting to close to someone in fear of losing them or never found the time to attempt dating, y'know something like that.
As for the romance scene between Cullen and the PC, I'd hope it would be very sweet but very heated/intense. My head canon is that he'd finally let himself go completely and allow himself to be fully taken over by his emotions/desires so the scene would be very passionate, like he can't hold back any longer (kinda like how Isabela practically jumps Hawke in the DA2 romance scene sort of thing.) If the PC is a mage then there would be an extra scene where her magic is flaring throughout or she uses it to pull him close and he'd let her use her magic even though he's wary because he has come to trust the PC implicitly. I think the romance scene should take place outside of the bedroom though, either al fresco or in whatever room they happen to be in at the time. I found the bedroom scenes in DA2 to be pretty dull in comparison to DA:O, Hawke had a whole house to "play" in, why restrict it to the bedroom with every single LI... I could see a character like Merrill being more inclined to do it somewhere safe and out of sight because she's shy and innocent but companions like Isabela or Fenris strike me as the type to just go for it where they stand, in the heat of the moment.

LOL - understandable. It was hard during my Seb romance not to succumb to Fenris puppyeyes or Anders nomnomnom. That's where Cullen came in... quick trip to the Gallows to fangirl, and I was good.meanieweenie wrote...
