I don't understand the VO process. Do the record the main characters/companions first, or the minor npcs 'n' stuff.

It's mostly done by plot, so we bring in all those actors, then if we have space in an actors session we'll add in lines from other plots.

So all the actors all come back to record as and when each plot is written?

Yup!

Yup!

Does "plot" roughly correspond to "main quest" or is it bigger/smaller?

It's one of a number major sections of the main quest.

Really? They didn't give you a free physical copy? You should smooze Ben Gelinas, didn't he have a hand in putting the whole thing together?

Yeah he made the PDF but I want sexy leather!

Right, my channel has now gone live. Go have a look at the Dragon Age wishlist if you want, feel free to give me constructive criticism or leave me a comment on there.

Awesome work! I shot it around to a few people in the office. My thoughts:

Didn’t get to sympathize with the family until 5-6 play throughs! Wow talk about commitment
You want to see a shank up the ass coming :)
I liked your thoughts on the fade[/list]
Keep doing these, they are really good to see.

GUYS IF YOU READ THIS WE CANT POST HERE ANYMORE AND IDK WHY...... I'VE TWEETED JESSICA BUT IVE GOTTEN NO RESPONSE YET WHAT DO YOU GUYS PROPOSE TO DO? LETS HAVE A GATHERING AND FIGURE THINGS OUT (sorry for the caps btw)

Wait, I'm confused. I'm able to post right now... I think?

EDIT: Yes I posted. Ok guys, I'm not sure what the issue is here but it seems that posting on the Cullen thread is working fine for me. I hope you guys are able to post too :)

So I'm on topic, erm. I had a crush on Cullen during one of my initial playthroughs of DAO, but he hurt my feelings hardcore and I've never forgiven him.

EDIT2: Hey guys. OK, I'm not sure what the issue is (again). I've messaged my tech lead and when he gets in tomorrow, I'll make sure that he takes a look at this. I'm really sorry that you guys can't post about this. Thank you so much for alerting me on Twitter! Keep me informed if anything changes and we'll try to get this fixed ASAP!

EDIT3: Should be resolved!!!! <3

Happy posting!

To answer my own question, I'm actually quite okay with this idea. He's important, he's in power, we get to hang out with him and maybe become his friend. (If NPC romances are implemented, then I am double-okay with it.)  :D I have no idea why I think Cullen would make for a great NPC. Perhaps it's because that's how I've known him for the whole series? Maybe I'm self-deluding myself into thinking that's FINE REALLY TOTALLY FINE I'D BE OKAY IF HE WASN'T A COMPANION NO REALLY IT'S FINE. I think he'd do well in a position of power, instead of lumbering after the Inquisitor all the time. IDK.

As a side note; we all know Cullen is way more badass than Joker!

Also at least one Bioware employee was nonchalantly providing color commentary the whole time.

Please don't use me, or my posts, as any sort of confirmation or anything beyond me simply talking about the news du jour.  It *will* scare me away.  I understand that by default I'm a representative of the company, but it's a large company and I get involved talking with the fans because your enthusiasm helps when it's really friggin' busy.  And contrary to what some think, I post here on my own volition and am not a PR representative, meaning I probably don't adhere to as strict of guidelines as I maybe should.  Maybe this is unrealistic of me, and maybe this is part of me continuing to learn how to interact with the fanbase, but I figured I'd put this out there.

I don't know Greg or any of the anything about this, and actually as I write this I'm actually realizing that I probably *should* stop posting about it.  So this will be my final post on the topic.

Sorry about that! From the outside it's easy to assume you guys are some kind of Blue Angels-coordinated team deliberately waving the wand of legitimacy at discussions. :)

I understand that, and as I mention (I edited my post) perhaps it's an unreasonable perspective for me to have, and that I need to learn from this and understand and appreciate the reality of the situation.

You didn't do anything wrong (if anyone did, I did), and it's a fair enough perspective for you to have.  I considered going back and deleting comments I may have made because people are enthusiastic and more emotional than rational at the news, so I could probably tweet "That's interesting" vaguely because I just solved some logic puzzle, and people would probably connect the dots that it *must* be related to this news and so forth.

I'm confused... what did Allan say that is being misconstrued?

Just that my discussing the situation in any capacity may lend a degree of authenticity beyond what Greg Ellis said.

I was explicitly asked for more information in the Twitter thread, and I mentioned that I cannot confirm nor deny the position presented, and this actually extends even to Greg's tweets.  In retrospect, responding to his tweet was likely silly of me, but the reaction was mostly fun and positive and hey I like fun and positive and get carried away with it too.

Despite my "omnomnomnom" of fan tears, I actually DO prefer fan squees.  They are just more challenging for me to create.

what is the NDA have to do with excitment for something we've all been waiting for? Are you prohibited from getting excited?

I don't know Lola, nor why she may be under NDA, but for the same reason why I probably shouldn't have chimed in about very much.

People will read into the way particular things get said because that person actually knows a wee bit more than the average fan, and when NDA'd it's probably better to err on the side of caution.

Pretty much this.

I'm AbilityDrain on Twitter/YouTube, I was put under NDA cos I knew too much, lol.

Ah yes!  Despite that I still don't know why you're NDA'd!  Big company and big place and all that jazz.  Mostly just sharing to help people with perspective :P

There's a few people I learned were NDA'd and was totally "Huh!  I had no clue!"

Greg Ellis could show us screenshots of Cullen making out with an Inquisitor wearing the pimphat, and they'd both still have to respond in an entirely neutral fashion. Yes?

Pretty much.  Unless I have explicit permission, there's only a handful of things I'd feel comfortable talking about and they're all much more system/mechanics related (i.e. my direct job) and virtually none of it narrative related, simply because I don't spend as much time looking at the narrative content with my work.  In fact, there are literally things that surprise ME when I do get a chance to get into the main game and play things as a player.

I wouldn't take something an NDAed person says as evidence either way, because the point of an NDA is they can't tell you what they know.  ;)

It doesn't preclude an NDA'd person from making a mistake.  Including myself.  I remember making a minor gaffe talking with someone in person, and as the conversation goes on I wonder if I am struggling hiding my look of horror as I panic wondering if the hint I gave was as obvious as I think it is!!!

It's probably best to slide the book talk to a different thread and/or PMs.

At this point I could pop into a thread and I have no context what the spoiler tags are even spoilering.

Seriously though, he could very easily have meant "player character" as opposed to "Non-Player Character". We don't know for sure whether he meant protagonist or companion. And now I will shut up about this, I promise.

I have seen the terms used this way in the past (Player character referring to any playable character, party member or otherwise).

I do NOT know if this is how Gaider uses it.

I ran into it from the other perspective talking with a forum goer, since I would still consider them "NPCs" but the forumite I was speaking with considered all party members to be player characters.

I have always thought Player Character refers to the avatar the gamer is using, i.e. Hawke and the Warden. Even though you can take control of the other members in your party during combat, I guess I don't see that as a player character. So to me they are just companions.

That's part of the challenge since not everyone will use the same terms for the same things.  I find the "Player Character" as companions tends to be a perspective from more older school types of players, possibly because older games had players create full parties, but that's just my own personal observation so maybe that assumption of mine is wrong.

I can certainly understand your position (it's actually in alignment with mine), but misunderstandings happen when people see things differently.
