I find it hard to go against Cullen as well since it would be hard to see him getting mad after every quest.cacey lee wrote...
Lol I plan on doing both..but I always find it hard to do rival...

That would suck. I really like the ability to romance someone even though they hated your guts. It gives me a good opportunity to imagine how the angry sex would be like.
I'm not sure if they will get rid of it completely but at they were saying that it didn't work out the way they had origionally wanted it.

Yeah, I also thought it would be something closer to Origins... But I honestly have a hard time really conceptualizing what that would be. One thing I like about DA2's way was that I could try it both ways. In DA:O I never did anything to ****** anyone off, worried they'd up and leave me. So, for me, something in between would be great.Shades_Of_Pale wrote...
I thought they were going back to approve and disapprove, so there was no rivalmancing..?
But, if if Cullen had been a LI in DA2, I could see his fundamental issue for rivalmancing being about mages... In that case, I'd probably have to try both and see which felt more natural. I sorta feel like the support/not support Templars convo after the Keran quest in Act 1 was kind of a preview. If you say something pro or anti Mage, he's cool and thoughtful. But, try to play it neutral, and he gets pissed. "this no stuffy scholar's debate!" I appreciate that he expects you to have an opinion.

Lol. I never rivalmance anyone (I just can't do it, I've tried but I dislike the thought of it:?) so I guess It doesn't really matter to me what they do..

Yeah, since I think them hating your guts wasn't supposed to be the point. More that they liked you but had to agree to disagree on some fundamental point that could help them expand their perspective. Clearly, it didn't quite work! LOLShades_Of_Pale wrote...

Lol. It'd be interesting to see how it goes when they fix that up, it would make romances more fun.

Agree. I did quite a bit of rivaling, which seemed to make sense for me with certain characters and their issues. Like Merrill's blood magic, and I thought Anders's arguments were much better as a rival. It's just the rival-mances I think felt awkward for me. So I hope you can still disagree with your LI, but be in a slightly more... Positive relationship.Shades_Of_Pale wrote...

I know what you mean... Which is why I'm almost always diplomatic Hawke! But I usually could only rival if the dialogue or actions that still seemed ... true. So I avoided the outright jerkish things almost always... With massive meta gaming, of course!cacey lee wrote...

The rivalmancing thing was considered a failure.
They're returning to Origins style but from what I heard it will be more evolved than what it was in Origins. Whatever that means.

The problem with the rivalmancing thing is that it didn't really make things clear. Like for example just because you didn't approve of Anders "methods" didn't mean that you didn't agree with the mages plight, but of course he would end up presuming that you were anti-Mage.
Those were one of the reasons I couldn't rivalmance someone, it didn't make much sense to me.

I already got the vibe that he knew she might cross the line...you know;)LolaLei wrote...
I sided with the Templars once for the achievement and to hear Cullen's dialogue towards a pro-Templar Hawke. It's worth doing because you get to see Cullen's hesitancy and dislike of what Meredith and the Order are becoming.
