Those are some mighty fine ideas for fanfic there, LolaLei. I'm no writer so someone needs to get to work. Chop chop monkies! Mama needs a new story! Posted Image

Where do you go to read fan fictions?  I found a really good Cullen fan fiction on Fanfiction.net; it's written by one of the testers of the Cullen Romance Mod from Dragon Age Nexus.  I just made a deviantart account, and I noticed that some people post their fan fictions there.

In my fan fiction, as much as I am embarrassed to admit it, I feel really tempted to have some sex in it <.< (which I don't think fan fiction. net allows either way), and I don't know if that's something fans want to read either.  I also got off the phone with my fiance and he suggests that if I do decide to post it, to post only excerpts, to prevent excessive stealing, which is something that makes me reluctant

In any case, when I do finish mine or have some excerpts done, and if I do decide to post it, I'd like to post it somewhere where most of us in this thread or Cullen group, would go to read them.

Oooh.
Sounds really interesting! No wonder you give really good tips at fan
fics; it sounds like you write stories/fan fics more than I ever had.
:-)

Thank you. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/happy.png[/smilie] I write a lot of fic but I publish very little. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/blushing.png[/smilie] But I guess I do spend too much time dreaming up bunnies and plot devices. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/grin.png[/smilie] Oh! By the way, I forgot to welcome you here. So... welcome to our little corner of fandom obsession.[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/wizard.png[/smilie]

Hehe thanks! :]    I know exaclty what you mean; that's why I never stick to some activities for too long--I keep fantasizing me going somewhere with that or whatever I am currently obsessed with. lol.

My fiance is now afraid how I'm going to act when I get to playing skyrim <.<.  He was rolling his eyes at me (or claimed to be) when I told him some of the interesting comments and discussions we've made in this thread, and this one funny comic I just found on deviantart. =)  http://fc00.devianta...ana-d3ifong.jpg

When I played DA2 the first time, I was alright about the story. I was far enough removed from DAO to not be as critical, but then I went to play DAO so that I could have a new save to import into the DA2 setting and two things happened. One: the combat in DAO was so much slower, I had a hard time enjoying it, while mages were more fun than in DA2. Two: The story in DAO was so far reaching, I realized that I never once got that feeling of sheer epic quest from DA2.

Then I went back to play DA2 and realized 2 two things. One: the DAO import doesn't mean much besides some additional dialogue and small quests. Two: The rushed feeling of DA2 became more evident. I got the feeling that the final battle with Orsino and Meredith was supposed to be 2 separate boss fights and each only possible depending on which side you chose. Suddenly it seemed as if Bioware WAS trying to make different endings that were truly affected by the PC's choices but then realized they didn't have a big enough game so they squashed them together. This actually turned me sour on DA2. I still love the friendship dynamic and though the story wasn't as "epic" it had more badassery. So I'm torn about DA2. It's more fun to play but the story... knowing it could have been so much more, seeing the poorly concealed "seams" of the game has me feeling ambivalent about it. If they'd fleshed out those little side quests where you find lost items and return them, as the devs claimed they had put in, I'd have been happier. If the PC's choices about mages and templars had independent outcomes, I'd have felt better about my choices. It kind of felt like, no matter what you do, things go a certain scripted way despite trying to appear otherwise. It's a big false advertisement. I still play DA2 though, but it's more because I'm busy trying out all other dialogue and choice outcomes. Or just to go pester Cullen. =3

If I had the PC version, I could at least mod the characters and have more giggles that way. I'm doing the same with DAO now too. Alistair's first time whining at me was a shock but over time, it's come to amuse/annoy me. I can't wait to see how he handles me saving Loghain. =P

haha! When I first realized how much I liked Cullen, when I first started playing DAO, I think I would spend 5-10 minutes walking in the hallway on the second floor in front of him, watching his head turn to look at my mage; this was when I only had the console version. Once I got the PC version, I'd spend even more time, trying to get perfect screenshots of me talking to him xD. The last few times I played DA2, what I liked to do was save a file before the Anders save scene (just like how I would before talking to Cullen in DAO's Mage Origin story), and just keep reloading the file to watch it again /palm. The only DA2 game I played was the console version; I couldn't read any of the item text, which also interferred with me enjoying the game completely. I really do enjoy reading some flavor text to items. I actually didn't mind the slower pace of DAO, maybe that explains why I didn't care for the combat system in the DA2. I'm not lazy about moving my character, if that's why they changed the mechanics and system, but with my computer, when I lag, I sometimes have trouble moving, or reaching a certain point in combat.

I'm not sure about other places but I know fanfiction.net allows it. If you go to the dragon age section and then look under Cullen theres a whole bunch of Cullen fanfics (plenty with mature content too) They have a filter for people who don't wan't to see it so no need to worry. Here's a link with all the stories about Cullen if you don't know how to get to it already :)

Awesome thanks! :].

I'll make sure to let you all know when I get mine up there; it most likely won't be anytime soon.

Something I've been also thinking about... You all remember one of the apprentices saying something about how they heard that the templars watch them while they bathe? How likely do you all think that is? I'm just wondering because...if they really did, would Cullen have the nerve to peek at Amell/Surana bathing?

I made that Alistair picture myself LMAO!

Gah, that was harsh but I loved it to bits :P

I wish I had the skill to write, I remember trying to write a story a really long time ago, It took me about an hour to write a paragraph before I stopped re-read it and realized it was terrible haha, Thankfully there are people like you around!

Hmmm I think Cullen's story has room to grow. For me it has just begone in other words.

In DA he was pushed to the brink of his sanity and his faith. In DA 2 he's pushed to go against his Commander. I'm sure maybe, even though he might still believe mages to be a danger...he might be questioning the order and how it actually works.

He might be a main reason on either side Mage or Templar that we can see some major goings on! I would like to think that if you recruit him and he is still all pro Templar, that he might eventually see that the order needs to change. If he's kind of in the middle, maybe he will be one of the major ppl to help establish a new circle. One where mages aren't so looked down on.

But meh, that's MHO and that's why I got fan fic lol

I'm fine when it comes to writing stuff like reviews, I'm not sure I'd be any good at stories though. I did start to write a diary of my life so far out of sheer boredom, but it's ended up reading like some weird comedy sketch LOL.

I guess I could have a crack at a fanfiction, I had that idea a few pages back that I wouldn't mind attempting.

lol. Do it if you want to. I just think from the sound of it, you have a lot of potential. I personally think you'll do better than you think you will. If not, know that we can give you the input the could help you in the future. There's always a first time for everyone. I haven't written one myself or posted something like that or art for people to look at. But, from talking about it with you all, I think I might at the very least have some excerpts to show you once I get it started.

No problem :)
I don't know, Cullen doesn't strike me as the peaking tom sort hiding in the wall or something. That'd be slightly creepy lol
Although going by Ser Karras and Possibly Ser Alrik templars seem to grow into creepy old perverted men. Don't worry Cullen I'll save you from that life! :innocent:

I guess the Templars might have had to stand in the same room as them whilst they bathe incase they try to do something dodgy? Kinda like they do in some prisons. I think Cullen would have tried not to look, probably stood facing the wall twitching LOL!

Dunquixote - I usually end up at Fanfiction.net or adultfanfiction.net. It depends on how trashy I'm feeling. ;) You can have sexy time on fanfiction.net so long as you rate it 'M' I think.

PS - I love Skyrim. Very different feel though since you're pretty much on your own with no companions.

@dunquixote - I second (third? fourth?) the others about ff.net. There's sex a-plenty in the M rated fics, subtle and also not so subtle, so the rating descriptions in their instructions don't mean too much.  Another place to look is archiveofourown.org, which is still in beta and isn't as big as ff.net, but I've heard that some authors prefer to post some of their more mature fics there. It has many more bells and whistles for warnings and tags and such. It's pretty slick, even if it has a much smaller readership. I also have posted at deviantart, and many Dragon Age clubs there have a fanfiction folder. Deviantart also has mature filters for such works if needed.

And, I don't know that I'd worry so much about people stealing your stuff, since I figure, if it's fanfiction, very little of it belongs to us, anyway. I haven't heard of that being too much of a problem. (Screenshots are another issue... HA!)

re: Cullen and DA3 - I agree with VampOrchid that Cullen's story has just begun now that he has his newly matured ideas of what being a templar is about. A mage-templar war needs people with a moderate view of how mages and templars can work together, and he's one of the few now, along with Evangeline from Asunder, IMO. So, I think he'd be a natural character for DA3, whether NPC or companion, to help rebuild a system that actually works.

As a companion, I don't think he even has to leave the Order. After all, Aveline never left the Guard. But, more importantly, I don't think his idea of what the Order stands for would jibe with the post-Asunder Order's new Xena-esque "kill-em-all" approach to mages. So I could see him striking out on his own to follow his conscience, or joining up with the few templars and Seekers who are still loyal to the Chantry, to help set things to rights.

Then, as has been mentioned, there's the ever-fun, "he was kicked out" idea, after his DA2 insubordination. That one is currently fueling my muse.

OH GOSH NO!! The link to the author on devart is above it. I just thought it was lovely. I have no artistic talent to speak of... so I think screenshots are great!
