I have this sneaking suspicion that this is the kind of route they'll take with Cullen, he seems like such a tragic figure and I know David Gaider loves tearing our hearts out so I won't be surprised if Cullen's is a doomed romance. Usually I would expect a "get out of jail free" card to be thrown into the mix like they did with the dark ritual to save Alistair and your Warden in DA:O, but Bioware seem to be taking a different route with romances recently so I'll be interested to see what stance DA3 takes in the bittersweet stakes.

I don't mind tragic romances, I'd be a bit gutted if Cullen draws the short straw because I'd like to see the poor guy happy for once, but if they portray the tragedy correctly then I think I could still appreciate it for it's beautiful story telling, even if I would be royally cheesed off lol.

I think I remember someone mentioning that David Gaider said if he wrote the romance he'd make Cullen creepy lol

I read that too, I think it was shortly after DA:O before they'd developed his character in DA2. I dare say he'll still have a slight creepy quality to him, but in a more intense love way, rather than the "I creep into your room at night and lick your face whilst you sleep" kinda way.

Only when he's out of pancakes

Cullen luuuurves the pancakes!

he cooks them in the sun.. on his abs.. at the beach and them tears them apart with his teeth in slow motion before he swallows in

Lola: When I romanced Alistair with a character for the first time and didn't know about the hardening process, man, you should've heard me or seen the look on my face when I got to the dark ritual part.  Man, I wanted to **** slap Morrigan lol, pardon my language.  No one sleeps with my man ever! <.< Hands off!

Top secretly... my first DA:O playthrough I was an elven mage. When Alistair dumped me I yelled "F### YOU A-HOLE" and deleted that character. LOL

As a side note, Cullen must be at least 6'1". I'm a tall girl and need the leverage. Posted Image

My first play through was with a city Elf, I was gonna let him be king and offered myself to rule beside him but he was like "you're not nobility so you wouldn't be able to" and I was like "**** that then Anora can be queen! Come on Ali, we're going to go do Wardeny stuff instead!"

Awesome.  Thanks :D

lmfao!!!!  I don't know about the deleting part, but I think I've done that many times.  I know even when I was playing a Cousland, I think a month ago, when I was at the Chamber of Assembly, I worked undercover for Dulin, and so, when I announced that Caridin picked Harrowmont, I pointed at my computer screen at Bhelen and yelled "HA!  How do you like that?!"  Not as funny as what you did, but still, ever since that first time I played Dwarf Noble, I feel my blood rushing to my face the entire time in Orzammar, knowing what Bhelen was guilty of, and thinking of my lovely Princess Aeducan. You should've heard me the first time I played it and saw that sonuvab$tch scout and Franko Ivo treachery.  I had to remake a character later on that looked like her, so I could screenshot her stabbing that <bleep>. <.< I hope Franko Ivo got what he freaking deserved  in the end.

I love how attached we got to the characters in that game. I'm terrible with Bioware games I get really defensive of all of the companions, even the ones I'm not that keen on. I guess that explains why I freaked out at the end of ME3, poor old Shep seperated from her crew and Kaidan... his romance scene in ME3 was freakin' amazing!

Something random...
Last night, when I was picturing part of my prologue taking place in Cullen's perspective, I could picture my character turning around and greeting him with a smile; if any of you have played Shadow Hearts and Shadow Hearts: Covenant, there was even background music to what he was remembering in my story--Alice's theme. ^^ Now, each time I picture him looking dreamily up at the sky, thinking about the one he loves, I hear Alice's theme playing in the background; the reason that song in particular is just because of the tone of the scene I'm perceiving it to have so far.

Gah... trying to find the scene on youtube so i can link how I'm picturing it as..

Found it:

it's 40 seconds into the video. I thought her voice would should up clearer, oh well.  It's still pretty much how I'm having him remember her in one scene. I mean not her appearance but the turning of her head to look at him.

So, far, I think my fan fiction is going well.  Hmm... Do you think they had pocket watches then?  Would a templar have pockets in his skirt? :P

No worries. Not too spoilery... but I think ME3 spoilers are inevitable when you hang this close to bioware fans. :D

Does anyone have an estimation of how tall Cullen is?

Dunno exactly. I tend to describe him as "tall" since he's certainly taller than my Hawke (and she seems relatively tall for a girl). I'd probably go with meanieweanie's 6'1" - 6'2" ish. I'm not sure if that's something the DA:O toolset might give you...

For possible reference, here's my "Cullen checks me out" pic which just makes me laugh every time I see it...

Every game I finish in Origins, I always make sure to carry over my templar armor to Awakening (if I play it with the character). When I was trying to get a screenshot of my favorite banter from Awakening, I made sure Oghren was wearing the templar outfit, just because I thought he looked funny in it, but awesome in it at the same time.

My turn for screenshot posting :D

Obviously, the way he looks at my character isn't the "I want to talk to her" type of look, but most likely the perverted kind, since I picked the dialogue choice "I've seen the way you look at me." His statement, "If you're saying what I think..." gives his thoughts away. xD

Someone is excited to see my character. xD

D'awww bless him, I love how flustered he gets when you offer to get to know each other. And I absolutely love the way he runs off after he tells you that he has to go. Has anyone ever followed him to see where he runs off to?

Yup. He goes to the first floor, though you won't be able to find him.

The "dirty" part of my brain tells me that he ran off somewhere where he could get rid of a particular problem guys get <.<

I read a particularly naughty Cullen/Hawke fanfic recently where he ends up using Hawkes bathroom to have a bath after rescuing Hawke from a particularly bloody ambush and ends up "letting off steam" in the tub whilst fantasising about her whilst she's asleep upstairs LOL.

I have no idea, they hated each other in the story but they were writing anonymous letters to each other not realising who each other actually were. Then eventually they ended up having a fumble in the kitchen or something. :-S

... Lol I've made it sound awful haven't I. It was actually a pretty good read, for the life of me I can't remember what it was called though.

So I have a question for you all:

We've all noticed that Bioware love their doomed romances (Thane and Jacob in ME3 being a prime example of this... actually, all the romances in ME3 given the current endings lol. )

Hypothetically, what will you do if they finally give us Cullen as a love interest in DA3 and it's perfect... more than perfect infact, they give us a long drawn out romance arc that feels natural yet dramatic as you watch him battle with his heart and his head, an indepth romance/loyalty quest that affects your character and the world around her accordingly and "down time" in which you spend a few moments with him alone to relax and get to know him better (like the dates in ME3.) Then at long last after 3 friggin' games you finally get to "make ze lurve" and the sex scene is a bloody marvel to behold! BUT towards the end of the game Cullen dies (for whatever reason) or dumps you to become Chief Templar extraordinaire, and there's nothing you can do to save him or talk him out of leaving.

Would you guys be angry? Even if the romance and his reason for dying/leaving was portrayed and handled really well? Would you still go a head with his romance even though you know it will end badly? Would you fall into an almighty nerd rage and complain? (Like I did with the ME3 endings.)

I'm curious to hear your thoughts because it was a topic that came up in one of the other threads and I wondered what your reactions would be, especially your first reaction upon experiencing this travesty for the first time.

For me it would be like my first playthrough on DA with my Mage and Alistair...and  I was like wtf I made you king and now your dumping my mage?!? lol

I would probably play it again and again trying different options. It would suck royally. However, I would rather 'a story' with him as a Companion and LI, then  having no story at all ;)

lol! It does peak my curiosity and interest, I must admit. I will eventually need to refer to some fan fics for ideas how to write a proper romance scene, as well as know the limit to explicit, which shouldn't be too much of an issue since my sexual imagination is rather limited :| (or so I claim to myself :P).

Does anyone have an estimation of how tall Cullen is?  I might not end up using it, but just now, while I'm typing copying my notes onto Microsoft word, seeing how I'm using italics rather than using quotation marks when someone is thinking, not to mention that I'm bad at varying the structure from "he was thinking," "he thought," etc; I'm trying to insert something in front of what was going to open up my story.  I could always go "A tall handsome templar," but that sounds too bland... <.<

He seems to be the same height, if not taller, then Alistair.
