If he were to romance a bloodmage, I just hope that it's written well enough that they address it instead of furthering poor Cullen's obliviousness. It's really a shame that he (and the rest of the templars) never really notice most of the magery going on in Kirkwall.

Yeah, I'm all for player choice... but I think it's a bit better for the choices to make sense. Or, at least acknowledge that they don't make sense...

I def think that on the romance part, your LI should give gifts and flirt back. DA2 was missing that. I don't want to be doing everything in the relationship.

I hope they give is some more details soon, aside from survey leaks that may not even be real we've had literally nothing since the concept armor at PAX.

Agreed.  I think if your a bloodmage, certain people who are against it, won't want to be with you.  Same for anti-mage or anti-templar or whatever.  Your choices should have consequences.

Here's crossing our fingers for some tidbits over the weekend. I wonder if they'll post anything from any of the panels. It seems DG will be on, like, ten or something at DragonCon.

Hopefully in DA3 that'll be taken into account. Granted it might kill my plan to romance Cullen as a Mage, but overall it ups the games replayability.

The thing though is that I don't think Cullen shouldn't be able to romance a mage. I know that seems to go against what I said above but seriously, I'm not about pigeonholing people. I think having options is great, when they make sense either from a lore or common sense perspective. Cullen has already established he has previously had feelings for a mage (or, at the very least, the potential to have feelings for one). I think it's only very severe choices that should have restrictions. ie Fenris/Anders with a blood mage

The end choice where you make Anders fight against the mages in line with the Templars absolutely broke my heart. It was ridiculous, completely unrealistic and basically showed the ONE THING that was in his character could be changed completely at the whim of another. I refuse to believe Hawke has that kind of power. Hell, no one should have that kind of power.

Staarbuxx: Don't get me wrong, I really hope Cullen will romance a mage, I'm just not sure how they'll go about the mental process of having him go from feeling intense guilt for once being in-love with a Mage mixed with his untrust of them due to his torture etc, to finally being willing to get into a relationship with one. I'm sure it's do-able, I just wonder what the catalyst will be that leads him to take such a big life defining step.

I have this feeling that maybe he'd kiss her or something but when it comes to the relationship he won't be able to do it due to his beliefs. Or they'll get together but he'll have to leave her permanently.

Agreed.  Except i do think he should be romancable to a mage *maybe it would take a little longer for him to trust you*, but i just don't see him falling in love with a bloodmage, ever.

You know, Lola, I don't see him feeling that intense guilt anymore, tho. He seems to have rather fond remembrances of Amell, so I always feel that he has come to terms with his past feelings come Act 2. The codex talks about the rumors about his crush on a mage and that Meredith likes to quell those rumors... but that's also from Act 1.

Anyway, I think part and parcel of the big steps he's already taken with respect to mages would allow him to view someone, like even mage!Hawke, as a potential LI so long as he/she is not a part of his own Circle. Post-Act 3, I think he'd be even more likely. Now, I think he'd be against fraternization with a mage he oversees indefinitely, no no romances with a mage from his own Circle. But in DA3 there will be no Circles anymore.

I don't think he'll have any guilty feelings left for the Mage Warden, just that he feels guilty because it was a sin in the eyes of his beliefs, so he might be apprehensive of it happening again. Of course,bi guess it's a slightly different situation if he's not actually ordered to watch over the new protagonist (although having him full in love with a Mage he's keeping watch over would be incredibly sweet.)

I don't doubt that he'll develop feelings for a Mage protagonist, I just wonder if DG will allow us to fully romance him lol.

So I just learned something that has blown me away. Dawn of the Seeker takes place just after Meredith became Knight Commander of Kirkwall. The "events in Kirkwall" they mention was the failed rebellion of Perrin Threnhold in 9:21, DG says. So... her interrogation of Varric takes place almost twenty years later... Girl ages well. So, DotS basically has no bearing on anything for the future. LOL

You know, I always headcanon Cullen as incredibly protective, and I would bet that would be an instinct that wouldn't go away. So, whether he's still a templar or not, or even in the case where he's not charged with overseeing mage!PC, I imagine him not being able to help himself and trying to protect her all the time. So I agree, that would be incredibly sweet!

*sigh* "Cullen, you know, I can take care of myself..."

I know! I'm... shocked. So everything we saw about Val Royeaux was from ages ago. But, presumably, the last scene where she's given the book is still co-eval with DA2.
