Oooo, that reminds me! Something else I'd like to see in DA3 is dawn and dusk with pretty skies. I dunno if we'll actually get dynamic weather in the new game, but it would be cool to get the odd scene or two (maybe with the companions or LI) where the sun is setting as you have a heart-to-heart with them. Having to visit the DA2 companions in their home bases really killed the atmosphere for me. That's what was nice about the campsite in DA:O, it might have been the same environment every time, but at least it had a nice ambiance to it.
Or at least living on the same damn street

My theory is that it'll be a bit like DA:A, except it'll probably be some sort of mansion and the companions will be dotted about in different rooms but occasionally can be found hanging out with the other companions (kinda like in ME3 when you're on the Normandy.) Then when you're outside maybe they'll each be hanging out in different areas of the city or something.
Personally I'd prefer not to have a mansion as the home base, I'd rather the setting change depending on the situation. So when you first start out you have no choice but to sleep rough and/or camp, then maybe you save a rich noble who allows you to stay in his chateau for a few days, then if you go off traveling around Thedas (like suggested) we'll stay in Taverns, abandoned warehouses and Circles etc. So you're never shacked up in one place for too long and gives us as the player a feeling that we really are traveling all over the map, taking opportunities to rest up when it arises.

Only problem with the roaming one is that it would be hard for them to impliment that. I'm all for the, you start out roughing it at a camp, a few months pass then you're in a tavern.

Precisely! There's bound to be a lot of people out for the protagonists blood, and that's not including the people out to get certain companions. Like if Cullen is a companion, there's either gonna be mages out for his blood for being a Templar/Ex-Templar or Templar's out to capture/kill him for not siding with the rebel Templars/going off with the protagonist to help her instead of helping them.

I just fixed myself a snacky plate too: apple, ham, and some stinky cheese to go with my wine. Hiccup!

The Templars are so easy to hate, I want to see a different side to them so that when it comes to me making that "difficult decision" (whatever it may be) I'll genuinely feel torn about the choice I need to make.

I was just lurking around in some of the other threads in the main forum and someone mentioned that in DA2 we were practically drowning in mage's/the mage plight and that it's high time we got a proper Templar companion to see the other side of things. I'm very inclined to agree. Don't get me wrong I'm all for mages but we've yet to truly experience the Templars plight from a personal level, and what could be more personal that Cullen to fill that role! We already know him and have experienced a little of what he's been through, he's likable AND has enough inner torment for us to actually begin to sympathise with his situation.

I think one of the reasons that it's so easy for us to sympathize so completely with the mages (besides the fact that we like to root for the little guy and we've all felt like that someone who's been persecuted for being different at some point or other) is that when characters talk about a single possessed mage destroying an entire village, we have no idea what that looks like or what it really means. We do however see Templars being jerks in both games, and that's a lot more memorable than the ones who are level-headed and compassionate (the one who gave Wynne sweets when she was first fetched to the Tower... d'aww).
We don't understand how scary magic is because the games haven't done an adequate job of showing us that. Even when the Ferelden Circle gets all abominationed... I don't know. I feel like that scene should have been as scary as Hespith in the Deep Roads was. That if we'd been forced to sit and watch dozens to hundreds of people get slaughtered by a monster maybe we'd know where the devs were coming from on this one.

Exactly! The mage/templar war is supposed to grey, yet we've only really seen the worst side of the Templars. Even with all those crazy blood mages running around doing bad things, you could still feel sorry for them because 9 times out of 10 it was a result of Templars squeezing too hard.
