LOL I'm 100% behind a memorial page. That would be HILARIOUS. All the fangirls come out and lament in the comments, leaving their condolences.meanieweenie wrote...

Oh gawd, just a thought. Hypothetically, say the leaks are real and a magical blast does happen that kills a lot of people off... what if it kills Cullen too? Like, he'll literally get his cameo part and then BOOM bits of Cullen scattered all over the place.
I will not be a happy bunny.
Then we pray for a magical modder that can undo the monstrosity! Ooooor.... we hope that one of the new companions is a hot piece of compensation.
Then we set up a memorial page.

I mentioned before that his "supervision" of mage-blooded people would eventually lead to trying to kill them all? Well, he comes to the conclusion that all elves are mage-blooded, correctly or otherwise, and hence decides to wipe them all out. I think there'd be some scenario where he waits for an Arlathven to happen so he can send an Exalted March on it and kill as many Dalish clans as possible, and he orders the purge of every Alienage under his unofficial empire, which he begins in Val Royeaux by first ordering all elves within the vicinity to return to the place, then just sealing and firebombing it until it burns down. This'd probably be what starts an outright war with Ferelden, and likely would be near the end, though it's possible Rivain has been crushed already by an earlier Exalted March...R2s Muse wrote...
@Xil, sock it to us. I have a similarly grim view of what Lambert's successors will do with their new view of the Order's purpose. For example, I keep expecting the Divine to get assassinated, not just imprisoned. Your idea is prob better, because there's a chance for rescue and redemption in the final Act.

That's one way to make them the big bad. I would imagine the org would have its hands full with all the other mages, tho. Then add in the elves too. Must have deep pockets.Xilizhra wrote...

ok so i just got done with my first fan fic ever. i have to say, its silly, and im just not sure how i feel about it. Im so not a writer. I can picture everything taking place in my head, but putting in words is totally different. anyways it turned out to be 1300 words so i'll link it when it comes time. not too much longer and we'll be at the 500 mark!!!!
Yeah I have the same problem. I'm more of a visual person myself, I'm definitely no storyteller even though I come up with decent ideas for stuff.

I feel your pain. All this discussion about what makes the templars evil or not and why it makes Cullen just as despicable - or not - has me trying to finish the fic I was writing about Alrik and what Cullen does to protect mages from him. Once he's had a rude and disturbing wake-up call that is... which is disturbing and gratuitous and I can't believe I wrote it.

My problem, is that my fun loving mage is becoming a little disturb, wich i planned from the start. But it's happening a little sooner then I wanted and she's a little more...mean then I thought lol

I'd personally like him to be attracted to the protagonist from the start because he appears to be the type of man who doesn't fall in love with just anyone, but when he does he'll fall hard (like he did with our female mage Warden). Not forgetting that he still seems kinda awkward when it comes to anything of a sexual nature (the young ladies at the Blooming Rose) so I can't imagine he's had much (if any) experience when it comes to the social norms of dating/courting/romance/etc so any genuine feelings he may develop for the protagonist (be it love, lust or just attraction) is likely to be amplified 10 fold because he's not used to the general protocol of such things, especially if he's been burying himself in his work for the past 10 years.
I can only imagine what sort of pent up frustration the poor guy is gonna go through before finally allowing himself to be happy LOL!

So, if Cullen is romancable in DA3, do you think he'll be like Anders in the sense that he'll be attracted to your protagonist instantly and hold a torch for him/her even if you romance someone else? For example, Anders make it clear right from the start that he wants Hawke, he'll even flirt if you don't do it first. Kaidan is another example of a companion in a Bioware game that makes it obvious from the start of ME1 that he finds female Shepard attractive and shows signs of jealousy all the way through if you don't romance him.

That's a good supposition. And pretty spot on! I'd like to think he's not clueless. There had to be someone who saw him and went "Awww! Don't be shy. I'm not going to hurt you." and the showed him the ropes once or twice. But I wouldn't make him out to secretly be a casinova. I'd like to think he knows juuust enough to spot when someone likes him (even if it takes a bit) and enough confidence to actually say something. I can see him, in a heated moment, being all assertive and basically laying how he feels out on the table. Cullen doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who'd screw around like Anders did with his "I'll hurt you" line. But I only see him like this once he's got fair reason to think the PC returns those feelings; otherwise he'd just keep it to himself rather than make things awkward. So I see him as not an idiot but not a savant.
If you're lurking around here Bioware, listen up! I do not want another Anders! "I want you so bad, but I'm only gonna hurt you, but I'm still gonna flirt shamelessly with you until you say you're into me and then I'm gonna run for the hills, screaming 'I'mmm nooo goooood for youuuuu!' only to snap at anyone else that comes along, okay?"
Yeah, devs. None of that, please. *bats eyelashes sweetly*

Ah. Gotta love it when characters do that.Do you feel it's a natural progression for her? Or does it seem too much too soon in regards to her evolution? Or just in regards to your comfort with the story?
I think it suits her just fine actually, that's the funny part. She's been through a hell of a lot, my little mage. And she's kind of finally just taking it out on someone, unintentially btw. It's kind of her moment to just let go, and be the bad guy for once. But only for a moment, Cullen snaps her back to the real world, real quick.

I think he might be, but won't let it show right away. He's a little more focused now and not some young pup. So being all jittery around women, probably won't be as big of a problem.
