I'm doing that one now, but it's really hard to resist Alistair. I think it's because when you click on al, he'll say hello & you can hear his sexy voice. Also his helmet comes off and you can see his handsome face. When you click on Cullen, the helmet stays on & he doesn't say anything. But I will persevere.

Yikes, Top

*peeks in*

Awful quiet today. I guess everyone is off being productive. I did manage to get laundry and basement cleaning done between computer playtimes.

Have another of Gala's beauties.

Ugh, I've been preparing for Irene to come through. You know, enjoying power for probably the last time for the next two days. LOL

Love the pics. Gah, DA:O Cullen looks so young in that pic (presumably modded?), he looks a lot like DA2 Cullen.

I'm sorry. :( I lived in Florida for eight and a half years. I frackin' hate destructo storms. Stay safe and lay in an extra supply of chocolate!

My mum lives in Florida now... in the panhandle, but still.

*sighs* I should be working on my Cullen fics, but I've lost the inspiration I had today... too tired and my back is still killing me.

Any road, I'll throw good vibes towards you, R2 - I'm far enough inland I shouldn't get more than a bit a rain.

If anyone is interested, I've made a Cullen wallpaper.

With the Caveat that I'm not very artistic, am really bad at cutting things out in Photoshop and its my first try at making one.  I just got the idea in my head it wouldn't go away until I'll made it.

Linky

Its sized for my laptop so that's another caveat

Anyway - maybe someone will like it.

(Copyright in characters and images to Bioware of course!)

@Avilia, aww, Cullen looks so heartbroken. Like: "Not the Chantry! Oh, ****! ((((("
@R2, good luck! *hugs* I hope it won't carry you away to a fantasy kingdom with awesome tall heroes, dragons and griffins, because then I will be madly jealous!

My laptop thanks you for sharing these Cullen gems, and is now 100% less boring! :) (And please don't stop! Make lots and Gala can add them to the front page. :o)

I need to go work on one of my Cullen fills, folks on the meme are getting impatient with my slowness, and rightfully so. Time to kick my lazy arse back into gear. ^_^

I've never got that extra bit in Cullen's DA2 codex using my female Surana import, did this happen to anyone else?

@Bubblyhappiness, one of my friends got it with her Surana. I didn't get it, nor with Surana, neither with Amell. My Cullen hides his feelings well. <_<

p.s. comic update. Now with more templars.

@Gala - more obssession - yay.  *scoots off to deviantArt*

Before I go however, has anyone else wondered where Cullen is when Cassandra arrives in Kirkwall?  I find it strange that she needs to ask Varric about the Gallows when Cullen saw what happened as well.  Well not inside but certainly with Meredith.  It doesn't make sense that she'd talk to Varric first - it looks like the Seekers had to find him (and drag him into house - Varric knows how to make an entrance).

I can't recall this being discussed but apologies if it has.

I hope he just fell in a big plothole and nothing more sinister occurred.  :?

Edit - ty for the kind words about my wallpapers  :)

I think the Seekers want Varric because he can tell the story from the beginning, while Cullen only had intermittent contact with Hawke. I wouldn't be suprised if the Chantry arrived  in Kirkwall within days of the incident, so whatever statement there was to give was probably given years ago.

Templars are also rebelling by the time of Varric's interrogation, but I don't see Cullen being one of them. By this point, the Templars might be acting like the army Alistair says they are and he might not even be in Kirkwall. Probably not the best time for a Knight-Captain to be sitting around babysitting whatever mages are left.

Edited to add that I've been wondering about the Templars revolting, the governments in turmoil, how that affects the lyrium trade, and how in the world the Chantry is managing to get lyrium to the remaining Templars. Considering that Alistair has no problem using his Templar talents without lyrium, we might find out that Templars don't need it at all.

The lyrium angle would be interesting Monica. If it turns out Alistair is correct and it was simply a means of control, things could get difficult for the Chantry.

It seems to me that most of the Chantry's power is in the Templars - if the Templars aren't in their control, well.

I agree about statements being taken and Cullen perhaps being soldiery elsewhere. I just find it curious that Cassandra doesn't seem to know anything about Meredith going insane at the end. Eh, probably me overthinking as usual. Perhaps in the turmoil the Seekers haven't got all the information they're after.

Am keenly hoping we find out at some point - all these tantilising story bits still left floating about.

If the Templars don't need lyrium, well, that throws the whole Chantry on its ear. It gets to questions of, "what else has the Chantry lied about?" I would imagine a lot of useless Templars while they recover or dead/insane Templars who couldn't survive it.

And now that you mention it, she does seem like she either doesn't know about Meredith or doesn't trust what she's been told. Granted, we don't know what she's been told, but then again it could also be for gameplay mechanics.

We've heard that Lyrium does assist in creating built-in magic resistance and might amplify their abilities. It isn't necessary but makes Templar more effective, still doesn't stop it from being a means of control, however.

Alistair is of average intelligence. I'm fairly sure, if he knew about it, other templars and intiates would know, too. So it's not exactly a well-kept secret, more like a common misconception outside of the templar order.

If Alistair's characterization is consistent, then lyrium amplifies templar abilities at the cost of addiction, and every templar knows it.

I hesitate to use those as evidence, but:

Spec description: "Through ingestion of carefully prepared lyrium, templars gain resistance to magic, including the ability to interrupt spells. "

Annulment ability (50% passive magic resistance): "The lyrium infusing the templar's blood protects the templar from the Fade's influence. The templar gains resistance to all forms of hostile magic. "

Its as good as anything I think KoP. Its interesting that the Origins talent descriptions don't mention lyrium at all.

I wonder if the additional information is meant to add to the lore for future purposes. Eh, time will tell I suppose.

@KoP, Avilia, actually I think the lore can explain the differences between DAO templar spec and DAII templar spec. In DAO there was "Mental fortress", it seemed like it allowed a templar to dispell illusions (Cullen was trying that on you when you found him in the cage, when he said "begone" and "oops, why it didn't work?") and resist spells that control your mind. In DAII it looks like lyrium in your blood protects you from physical effects of magic. For example, in Anders' story Rolan drinks lyrium and survives the blast, while Justice burns other wardens and templars. So it's a powerfull stuff and it does help you to be a better templar. I don't think lyrium is needed to dispell or drain mana, because Alistair, Oghren and Sten were doing it just fine without lyrium. It may be that the DAII description of the specialization is written from the Chantry point of view. Like: "It's said that lyrium does this and this". And since Hawke never talked to Alistair... well, Hawke drinks lyrium too (my Hawke at least).

BTW, my last update started some sort of a discussion: did templar!Carver take his vows? Does he drink lyrium? Keran calls him a templar apprentice in act 3, but Carver's rank is knight-corporal (the name of his templar armor set in Legacy). I think you can't be knighted without vows and lyrium. But that apprentice thing makes me doubt it.
