How do you want us to do it? Like just a design for a tshirt or an actual design on CafePress?

Best bet is to come up with the design and post it on here. We can put them up on Cafepress once we have them all gathered up.

OK, call me crazy, but it sounds like folks might be raring for a shirt design contest ... now?

Lol, ok balls to it! Let's do it now instead!

... I can see me spending a small fortune buying all the ideas on t.shirts!

Heh heh, in time for Christmas...

So... what? We have a window for designing, a date for submitting and then a BSN poll? Whoever wins gets kudos, joy and love, and we load up on cafepress...?

We could post up the top 10, and anyone can submit any of the designs for a t-shirt if their fave isn't on top. Or... really, submitting could just be posting online, since I doubt we'd get that many. Then, any is available for cafepress'ing, but number one gets the kudos.

thoughts...?

Morning everyone! We doing the t-shirt contest now? I'm in. :) Someone needs to be in charge who isn't planning on designing a...design. Someone who can post up polls, set up rules, etc.

I could do that. I have 0% artistic talent, so I'm not planning on competing.

But, I think we can group think some rules.

I think all should be available on cafepress, but there should still only be one winner and the winner can have a little winner's logo for their signature, and theirs will be the official t-shirt of the Cullenators.

Speaking of, is there a name we call ourselves? I know I'm relatively new to posting frequently in this thread, maybe I missed it?

I say we put them all up on Cafepress lol. Is it gonna be Cullen/Templar themed? Or Dragon Age themed?

Hmm, good questions.

1. No name for us yet. Maybe we should have a vote. Personally... not fond of cullenators, altho I know other are...
2. Hmm... I'd prefer Cullen oriented, since the genesis was due to there being no good Cullen shirts that don't reference other fandoms...

Like the idea to put them all on cafe press. But probably still want to limit to top... ten? or something Dunno how many entries we'd have anyway, but I think that would be safe...

I love the idea of a tagline or signature "Official Fanshirt of the BSN Cullen Thread" or something. LOL

If it's a contest, I supposed we do need some real ground rules (just to avoid any hard feelings; I don't anticipate fraud). So, I suppose perhaps everything should just be submitted via email or something to me (or whoever), and then I could set up a poll for all submissions.

Questions:
1. What if design already exists elsewhere? Still OK?
2. How much Cullen is "enough Cullen"? Is templar enough? Is dragon age enough? I suppose we can just define the spirit of the thing. "A design in celebration of Templar Cullen."
3. Who can vote? Poll on BSN? elsewhere?
4. Hold a run off for any ties?
5. Need a small group of admins for accountability? Volunteers?

I say we shouldn't complicate things too much. We should just post up our ideas on here for fun. If we make it a competition it could cause a rift between people in here.

(as I think about the fine print on other contests... LOL )
6. Who can submit? Can BW employees and their relatives participate? :P:lol::lol:
7. DA:O vs DA2 -- anything goes??
8. Limit on mature content??

Definitely don't want to do that. But, also want to safeguard people's feelings. That's my thought... but then, I'm an instructions girl. :P

1. I personally think it should be new designs only- no need to steal other people's stuff when we have tons of creative minds right here. Quotes should be okay though.
2. I like to define the spirit of the contest- without putting too many specific rules on how much Cullen or how much Templar- I think everyone will have a fair idea of what's Cullen-themed and what isn't.
3. I like a poll where you have to register to vote, and I assume BSN is the best for that. That's just to prevent people voting multiple times for their own t-shirt. I also think you shouldn't be able to vote for your own t-shirt, but that's just my opinion.
4. I imagine there will be ties- but we should maybe only hold a run-off if the top t-shirts tie- and the run off can just be another poll with only two or three (whatever tied) designs.
5. I like that idea, though I totally trust you, R2.

With respect to the both of you, I would hope that we're all mature enough to take a competition for what it is, fun, light-hearted, with an edge to push us creatively! Hopefully nobody will start ****ing and crying that they didn't win. :) I want it to be organized enough that it gives me something to work torward. Competition is awesome, and a little -friendly- competition never hurt anyone.

OK, actually, taking a further step back. Should it not be a competition at all? Pick a date for everyone to submit, post all up online here for sharing, and then all on cafe press for whoever wants to actually buy? Since everyone will end up having their own favorite that speaks to them and their wardrobe, we probably don't want a #1.

We could still add a little tagline: An official fanshirt of the BSN Cullen forum" or something like that, in tribute to the contest (better word??).

True, but we don't want things to be too complicated or stern. Plus, are we likely to get in **** for putting Bioware related t.shirts on Cafepress? Due to copyright and stuff?

I know, there's something there that would be kinda fun. But, in retrospect, thinking about the BW writing contest bitterness and the fact that there's no real point to having a number one if the goal is just have a new, creative pool of fun fan shirts, it may indeed be better to avoid competition.

But, I'd love to hear other thoughts as well. We can leave the idea open for discussion once other folks come on later.

I think there are certain limitations, like we can't use direct images from the game and maybe not the character names...? But I think quotes and such are ok. And, art that's inspired by those characters I believe is ok. For example, jakface charged for her Hotties of Thedas calendar. Aimo charged for her character illustrations. I've seen artists sell art that's inspired from Star Wars characters, even, and I don't believe they were lucasfilm licensees.

edit: plus, I don't think we'd be setting up a store anyway, right? Really, folks would be paying cafepress to create a shirt with the image, altho I've seen cafepress purge copyright infringement images from time to time.

Hm, problem is, how many of us are natural artists here? Most of us would have probably used Cullen's face/body model from in-game at the very least.

I think the competition idea can work AND all designs posted so people can order what they want if we have a prize for the voted favorite - besides kudos, I mean. Is it not possible to come up with prizes? It can be something like a free fanworks suite? The winner can have a fic&vid&art&whatever-else-we-come-up-with of their choosing or design made just for them? I only suggest that since I know it'd be kinda dicey to come up with prizes of real cash value unless we all chipped in toward the prize like a raffle pot.

We're all pretty crafty so maybe the prize can be something made by one of us? I dunno. Just a thought to honor the top designs - and thus still have the competition - while giving every design its time in the spotlight. All designs could be submitted to cafepress - unless there's a fee to post designs... I'm not familiar with it so I'm unsure how tat works. But if it's free to add designs, then they could all go up for all of us to drool over! :D
