My own hubby has a German accent... but not the kind of accent Americans expect from Germans (which is mor elike an Austrian accent), so he often gets asked where he's from. Of course, he also has long hair, which apparently is odd in NY... so he's either being mistaken for a girl or for some unnameable European.

Everyone always thinks that about themselves! Just remember your accent will always sound foreign and exciting to someone from a far away place : )

LOL I suppose all one need do is look at the video games that come out of a given country and see what kind of accent is fetishized there (Dragon Age, I'm looking at you and all your UK accents!). A British accent can get away with just about anything in the U.S. LOL
