I'd like a comprimise between a feminine voice and something un-posh like. I thought female hawke's voice was pretty at times but alot of the time she sounded too I don't know proper? or something. On the other hand I hated female shephards voice, it sounded too manly for me

I like fem Shepards voice, it's the kind of harsh/war hardened voice that felt right given her job and military status. I like male Shepard's voice acting too, there's just something about the way he delivers his angry lines that cracks me up, kinda like male Hawke with his funny/sarcastic lines.

I dunno what it is about fem Hawke's voice though. I know a lot of English people have a posh twang to their accent at times (even my voice slips into one when I'm using my "telephone voice") but female Hawke's posh accent felt really forced at times and it sounded really out of place compared to the rest of her family who had regular british accents. She also always sounded really condescending, like she was too good to be hanging around with the company she kept. Even when she was in a relationship with one of her companions she sounded cold towards them or sounded as though she was talking down to them.

That's what we'd call "phoning it in" in the biz. Half-hearted performance that sounded more like a cold reading at times than something one had actually put some thought or effort into. Posted Image

"Phoning it" ... I like that!

I'm really glad they didn't have Cullen as a LI in DA2 just because of fem Hawke's awful performance, the poor guy's romance/storyline needs decent emotionally compelling scenes, something that would have been ruined when being delivered by female Hawke.

re: Cullen's age, I think that's potentially one of the downsides of a DA3 romance, unfortunately. If it takes place after DA2 he'll be at least in his thirties, and likely the new PC will be young and untested (level 1 after all). So probably another twenty-something like Warden and Hawke. Ten years isn't insurmountable and they've sort of done it with Anders already, but he certainly would be more... experienced.

Although that could be an interesting counterbalance, if our PC is um experienced in other ways that he is not... Hmm, I may need to take that back as a downside...

The age gap could work out quite well since beyond the Templar order I can't imagine he's had much life experience in terms of the every day social interactions between people etc... I don't think he's ever had the chance to just be "Cullen" so the new PC could help him learn a few life skills and teach him to enjoy life beyond his duty, whilst Cullen helps the PC become a battle hardened, seasoned fighter etc.

Potentially it could be quite a nice dynamic that we haven't seen in the Dragon Age games yet, even if you don't take him on as a lover.

Agree. I like this take on it. Taking the templar out of the Circle could yield some great moments, and a bit more stuttering. Even from mundane situations, like ordering a beer from a flirting waitress. LOL

And, new pic for a new page. A look that could *cause* some stuttering.

R2s Muse: It would give us a chance to see his vunerable, naive side... Plus I want to take him to a Brothel just to watch him squirm! I can imagine him getting quite excited about everyday mundane things that our character would take for granted... like sleeping in til noon, camping out under the stars, enjoying simple social interactions that he wouldn't usually be able to participate in due to his Templar duties.

He's a great character - he's got an interesting back story that's worth exploring futher in DA3, but at the same time he's still a relatively blank canvas for Bioware to work on and develop his character/story into something intriguing and emotionally satisfying

=) Yup.

I just posted my third "chapter" (technically it's the second since my first chapter was only a prologue), but I am not sure if it should be longer because it's shorter than the other chapters I have written. I was just getting bored writing it and found a reasonable spot to stop so I wouldn't bore the readers as well.

I really hope they give us the option to have a casual outfit for when he's not on duty. I doubt they'll do it but it feels weird seeing a companion wearing full armor throughout the course of an entire game... maybe with their suggested concept for customisable outfits will allow us to remove some of that thick metal and strip him down to something lighter.

xD   I would love to see him topless. /drool

I hope they make the outfits look nicer than some of the outfits were in DA2.  I didn't like my mage robes in DA2.  I did like the templar uniform though.  I can't decide if I like that uniform better than DAO's.

I've got a question for anyone, on regards to if Cullen becomes a comapnion and LI. What kind of romance would you guys want? Would you guys prefer a more tragic, heartbreaking, romance, or a more light-hearted, some-what normal romance? Or some other type of romance that I can't think of right now. Opinions? :)

I would rather be surprised, because honestly what I want changes from day to day lol. I am female after all LMAO

Maybe it happened because I import it from my Awakening save rather than the main game?

It happens no matter what, I've tried. It's a standard, if Alistair is alive and is a warden line.

God I would take Hawke's voice over fem shep anyday...Shep sounds too...male. LOL

I have to be honest. I hated the way all characters looked in DA2 accept for Cullen and Flemeth. Most looked way to animee/cartoony/fake. DA had a more realistic vibe to it. Don't know why. It just did.

But for some reason, I find that Flemeth and Cullen had the best makeover.

His stutter.

I personally think it's a nervous only stutter. Because I have a good friend, who actually has a stutter. And it's an all the time thing. So I think it was an adolescent, not sure of myself stutter. So chances are, with him being so sure of himself now and matured, it will probably be gone. I think it should be, it shows growth in is character.

Lol I was only gone for a night and I come back to like 5 more pages!
I agree with you about the art style thing, I actually preferred the style in dao much more, it felt more real like aside from the proportions, although the animations in da2 were much better done

I would love it if they had like some sort of off duty outfit. I imagine if cullen did become a companion they'd make him a more unique outfit something like meredith's I'm guessing. Though if they have a romance scene it would pretty awkward. I think I like the da2 templar armor more but I'm not completely sure. I know that the masive armor looked much better on females in da2 than in dao

I'm not that keen on the Templar uniform, hopefully they'll improve it further if we do get Cullen as a companion.

I liked Keeper Marethari's makeover too (not sure if I spelled her name right), Cullen's was of course by far the best, I liked Anders--but his teeth looks like a mess

No apologies allowed! :P ;)  First of all, that's my job (if you played WoW and talked to my friends on there, or talked to my fiance, he could tell you how much I apologize xD).  Second of all, I don't mind if you don't read it at all.  I still have to finish reading yours  (I really like what I've read so far; I'll leave a review when I'm done).  I'll get to everyone's fanfics eventually; this one girl's I just finished reading was 40 chapters long and took me 3 full days to finish. x_x I missed her first story, and there's one more to read now.  Well worth the read though; I wish I wrote those stories lol.  I'm just posting my links in case there's an interest; plus I'm really excited since this is my first fan fic and I realize how much I really missed writing.

He stutters slightly when talking about the Blooming Rose to Hawke, so I think it probably is just nerves.

I wasn't keen on the overall art style of DA2, it had no real atmosphere to it at all. Like, Dark town was supposed to be a rotty **** hole but it looked too clean and not all that dissimilar to Low town.
