Hey if we are a inquisitor how the hell are they gonna address us? Or is there gonna be a name , like Hawk?
The new protagonist is bound to have a surname that he/she will be refered to. But perhaps he/she will be given a nickname too, along the same lines of how James Vega calls Shepard Lola or Loco. I imagine the LI would probably call the protagonist something like "love" like Anders did.

Here's the whole transcript from PAX east.Q: My question is, without breaking your NDA, is, back in Neverwinter Nights there was this small company called Rust Monkey by Dan Thorgen (?). Are you guys going to look at going back to that type of art style for Dragon Age III, hypothetically?
A Mike: Uhm... so, like moving back to art style from...?
Q: Yeah, like Neverwinter Nights on cutscene style.
A Mike: I think... I dunno. Shane, any thoughts?
A Shane: I think we did an amazing job remarketing DA for DA2, and we definitely wanna build on that.
A Mike: There's a note there, I think, is that I think there's a bit of a confusion around looking at DA2 and thinking that that's the art style for the entire universe, when in fact, like for the environments, for instance, that's the art style for the Free Marches, or Kirkwall, or specifically Tevinter slave breaking camps. The lack of travel, the lack of seeing the different spaces means that there wasn't the kind of visual variety that you saw when you moved say, between the Brecillian Forest, down to Ostagar, and so on. And I think that's something we want to make sure and get back so you can see how this art style expands across the world.
Doesn't really answer the question of whether or not it'll be the same sort of art style though. I mean, sure Orlais will be prettier than Kirkwall, but will the basic style of the graphics used be much the same? That's what I wanna know. Basically, will Cullen look like he did in DA2 or will he have a complete overhaul like he did between DA:O and DA2.

I don't know, I think he is saying exactly that, that we will "see how this [DA2] art style expands across the world." I read it as saying " the only reason people complain about the art style is because they didn't see enough of it. so we'll show you more environments that use it. but we ain't changin' it." I dunno, in this context, he would probably say the art style between MOTA and DA2 was different, eventhough it still uses the same sorta cartoony (for lack of a better word) look of the same engine.LolaLei wrote...

I agree. I really liked the look of it as well. It was very... different from Kirkwall... which is what I'm guessing he's hinting at. I do hope Orlais looks a bit like that... or even, something altogether different. But, I doubt they're going back to the more realistic look of DA:O. Hopefully that bodes well... and that the new characters won't get mangled in translation!LolaLei wrote...

Oh I did see a interview guy said something was tweeted about DA3 not being released till 2014 and Bioware denied those claims.
Yeah, there was rumours going around that DA3 had been postphoned and development temporarily stopped whilst devs helped on SWTOR instead. But I think that's been debunked by now considering the DA team have been recording VO sessions for the game and stuff.

Interesting question! It could just be because they needed something to besmirch Hawke's lineage, and what better way (esp in DA2!) than to make it be mages in their family tree. Being a Cousland doesn't seem to me so much like a black mark in the books.
It does make me wonder at what point they make these decisions. Perhaps they were like, "... and yeah, the noble family had troubles because of too many mages..." "Oooh, what if one of the mages was Warden Amell?" Ohh, cool..."
Like.. I wish we could get someone to tell us about Cullen's addition to DA2. I should load up my DotS DVD and see if I can get a screenshot of the non-Cullen Knight-Captain.

Exactly, but Hawke was always related to the Amell family regardless. Makes you wonder, doesn't it. Like it was technically default canon.

I'd ask DG or Mike Laidlaw on Twitter, but since he's going to be in DA3 in some capacity they probably wouldn't be able to tell us, especially if he does turn out to be a companion.
