Hmmm, did anyone else have problems when trying to fill out the survey? I got to a page that said I was finished, and then it took me back to the survey again o.O

Anyway, I said the biggest problem with the forum was the negativity, and that I stuck to the "nice" threads, like this one (although I didn't mention this one specifically ... should have!!!). And I said they should punish the bad people, not reward the good lol Yeah, I'm bitter :|

In the "explain" section I put that I visit the forums because no one in my real life plays games, so this is the only place I can talk about them and why I love them. Have sinking suspicion it made me sound very pitiful....

LOL I said just about the same on all. Yes, I did have probs with the logic, but in the middle, and had to refill one  page. I had a bit of difficulty at first deciding if my problem was negativity/fighting or trolling/harrassment. I went with the former, since I finally decided that the latter is really the extreme personal, stalking behavior that happens less frequently.

Is it weird that in DA:O I grew more attached to the minor NPC's that were part of our Warden's origin prologue, than I did with Hawke's family in DA2? It's not that I didn't like them or anything, but for some reason the fact that we were essentially ripped from them (either by their death or circumstance) it kinda felt more... bitter sweet. Maybe it's because we were able to experience what our Warden's life was like prior to sh!t hitting the fan, rather than just being throw right into the action with family we as the player had never met like in DA2.

Not alone on this; I agree, experiencing our Warden's life prior to the sh!t fan (lol), is what made things more emotional for me. I'm always sad when the couslands get killed off and the warden's left thinking her brother possibly got killed at Ostagar.
DA2 was pretty sad, but when one of the siblings were killed off..not really the same feeling. But losing Leandra was pretty sad, at least we had time with her.

You know good points. I don't know why. But, indeed, losing the Cousland family got me a lot more than losing my Hawke sib to the ogre. Maybe the circumstances were just more tragic. I had a much more visceral reaction even to losing Gorim when I eventually got around my f!Aeducan origin. But yes, agree that Leandra dying was also hard.

I didn't really feel emotional about the family in either Dragon Age game. I'm not sure why. Throughout ME3 I was a complete emotional wreck, but I don't think Dragon Age: Origins or DA2 got a strong emotional response out of me.

I'm not sure why that was. Probably because I didn't care a ton about Leandra because she blamed Hawke for Bethany and Carver's deaths. I felt connected to all of the companions and I loved them, but none of the deaths really hit me hard.

What killed me about losing the Cousland family was that we saw how much Bryce loved his daughter and we saw that Eleanor stayed with her husband and Fergus's son who loved swords... and they all died. :crying: With the Dalish, it hurt to know she had to leave all those people she loved but more so to see how much they loved her. The Aeducan origin also tugged at my heartstrings something fierce. The city elf and dwarf commoner both were hard for me to get through, given the subject matter about why they were fighting their way to freedom. It was amazing too but still hard to think about... My city elf had to leave her home because she was held responsible for simply fighting for her life. And her betrothed seemed like a good guy too... :crying: The only thing that compared, for me, in DAII was Carver's death in the Deep Roads. I wasn't expecting that.

The first ever Warden origin I played was the City Elf, I literally freaked out when her friends were about to be raped and then I was really sad when we had to leave her father to join the Wardens... of course, then we met Alistair and I was like OH HELL YES. Same with the Mage origin, I felt bad for Jowan and Cullen (for his little obsession) etc... and as for the Dalish Elf origin when Tamlen gets ballsed up by the Eluvian and then later shows up all Darkspawned up but still manages to tell you that he always loved you... totally heart breaking!

I really hope that DA3 gives us some sort of prologue like that (preferably variable depending on your choosen class) that is equally as heartbreaking.

Oh man, the deaths in ME3 ****ing killed me. Maybe more so because we spent the best part of 2/3 games getting to know them. If the DA team make any of the deaths like the ME3 ones, I'll be bawling my eyes out all over again... and really bloody angry if they kill Alistair, Cullen or my Warden without me having the option to save them lol.

Speaking of death in the Deep Roads... did it take anyone else a whole long while before they discovered the Warden possibility? Call me crazy, but I could never think of a strategic reason for taking two mages into the Deep Roads, despite the fact that it might make a bit of sense to bring along my only Grey Warden. If I'm a mage, I don't need Anders. If Bethany's a mage, I don't need Anders (although I think I actually went with him instead of her). It was only when I read about the sib becoming a Warden that I tried it out... and got my butt handed to me a bunch of times...

Do you think that was deliberate, so that the Warden option was unusual? Or am I just bad at playing DA that I found it hard with two mages? LOL

lol Yeah, meeting Alistair always does the trick.
DA3 really does need a prologue, i want to have at least some of the same emotional experiences I had with Origins.:)

I took Anders with me because my Hawke was in the process of seducing him lol... pretty fortunate really LOL! Usually though I keep the sibling at home (if it's Carver) so that he can become a moody Templar.

Something I loved about DA:O, was how the minor NPC's that played some importance in your choosen Origin (like Cullen, Tamlen, Your brother, Gorim, etc) all show up later in the game... usually after something bad has happened to them LOL, which I felt made things feel even more bitter sweet. I mean, I never thought we'd see Tamlen again after he disappeared or that Gorim would appear shacked up with another woman!

Agree. Storywise, it seemed like a good thing to leave Beth at home my first PT. And, I preferred Anders. I think it wasn't until I finally got around to playing a mage that I tried the Warden thing out with Carver. Come to think of it, don't think I've ever experienced bitter Warden!bethany at all, just on youtube. Maybe I should try it.

On my first playthrough I made Bethany a Warden, any other time I let her go to the Gallows so I can get some extra Cullen screen time... mostly she dies at the beginning of the game because I play as a Mage lol.

Ah, that made me so angry!  Esp since I had already met Gorim in other PTs... :shakes fist: Couldn't you have waited?!? LOL Kinda like how I felt when Fenris slept with Isabela after telling me he couldn't have sex because of bad memories. Yeah yeah, so I rebounded with Anders, but STILL!

Yeah, I kind of think it was the countless hours I spent with my crew that killed me, too. I wasn't even like a huge fan of all the characters that died and I STILL cried like a baby for each and every one of them.

Also that. I know if they killed Cullen/Alistair/Zev/Isabela without giving me a chance to save them, I would cry, too. And be really, really angry because those are my favorite characters. Period.

Gah, YES!  If you sleep with anyone else, it turns off the romance flag (but not the red scarf on his wrist...), so he apparently thinks he's free and clear to make bad dream-free whoopie with Isabela.

And, agree on Alistair... but still! It's the principle of the thing... Mostly I was disappointed in his totally lame reasoning and excuses as I went all Fereldan fish wife on his ass in the middle of the Denerim market. LOL

Clearly the ME team took inspiration from the DA team, since Jacob does the exact same thing to Shepard. Fortunately my Shep only has eyes for Kaidan!

Death threats? The greatness of man kind, death threats over a game lol

Yep! I also got accused of being an overweight house wife who traps her partner by getting pregnant and doesn't let him see his friends incase he runs off with another woman because I'm ugly and frumpy... which is interesting, since I'm neither fat nor have any kids. And my boyfriend goes out with his mates whenever he wants and visa versa. I guess it served me right for trolling for lols... I still kill Bethany off 9 times out of 10 though LOL!
