OK... here we go... I've been thinking quite a bit about this, and I also agree with littlenikki that it will depend upon rank. As the Gallows' #2, ostensibly Cullen should really be in the know regarding just about everything in Kirkwall. This is what makes his potential knowledge of Ser Alrik and the upcoming Right of Annulment rather difficult to understand.

How much does he know about what's happening outside of Kirkwall? Hmm... good question. I would bet a little, but I imagine external relations would be mostly a Knight Commander thing. Now that said... based on everything I read *prior* to reading Asunder, the Seekers of Truth are supposed to be a rather secretive order. So, I don't see most templars actually knowing squat about them or what they do. Given that, I'll bet most templars barely even knew Lambert existed before he, you know, took over the White Spire and then changed the face of Thedas as we know it.

That's a long winded way of say, YES, Cullen would really be an ideal companion to give us, the PC, insight into what's happening in the wide world of templar politics. And, I think him not knowing absolutely everything is the perfect storytelling mechanism for you both to learn more about what's going on.

LittleNikki: In regards to Cullen, I've been thinking the same thing. Like, perhaps the only reason he was promoted was due to his first hand experience of tortured/blood mages/abominations, so that he would literally end up scaring the recruits into becomes zealots with his horror story and zeal, but maybe after he met Hawke, Meredith realised that Cullen wasn't completely "anti-mage" and was beginning to doubt the Order etc so she decided to keep him in the dark about certain things.

As far as how much Cullen is aware of certain issues, they very well might have purposly kept him out of the loop due to his own personal experiences. It seems like he got promoted to Knight-Captain rather quickly, but I doubt Meredith or her superiors would have much confidence in his judgement.

I agree. This is also my own headcanon, that his youth, his Fereldan-ness, disdain for his rapid promotion over other Marchers, probably mean he could be rather an outcast at the Gallows. I see Meredith and her cronies keeping quite a bit from him.

Sorry caCey, minor misspelling slip up. We all make them dear, especially when it's 4:25 in the morning.

Also, could you elaborate futher on your post about the Templars, I'd like to further this discussion so I want everyone's detailed thoughts on the matter.

I do all the time..just wasnt sure if you knew...As far as what I said about lower ranking I mean like maybe their making coin on the side or maybe being bad with the girls...But outside from say Kirkwall I dont think they know all that much...Pretty much what R2 said is what I think..^_^

Also... you know, Lambert dragged all the KC's to Val Royeaux to agree to breaking the Nevarran Accord. He then gloats, to himself, that even if some of them aren't totally on board with his plan, he'll just eliminate them. So, I would speculate that the KCs have heard all the rumors about the Divine's sympathies and everything that happened at the White Spire, but are scared sh!tless of the Seekers and just sign on the dotted line. But I would LOVE to know more about what really happened that day.

I don't think Meredith was "anit-mage" either at the beginning of things. Remember, it was the lyrium idol that twisted her doubt and parinoia about blood mages into an obsession. I think that once Cullen became her second in command, she kept him on a short leash due to the very likely chance of his unstable mental state causing an incident with some innocent mage. This doubt about his sanity would also keep her warey of divulging all information to him, as it might be too much and send him straight over the edge. I think of the Order much like the military, in where you look after the guy that is a lower rank than you. It's your job as their superior to guide and direct them to success. It only makes sense that a sane Meredith would want to watch out for her subordinant.

But, you know... if Meredith was really that concerned about his instability... would she really have promoted him to her second in command within a year of his arrival in Kirkwall? I agree that she wasn't really cuckoo til the end, but I also tend to think that, like the codex says, she promoted him because she thought his views on mages were like hers. And, at first, they probably were.

If she did stop confiding him, why would she do so? I like the idea that she starts to distrust him because he's not as aggro on mages as she is. But, I also see the other templars really closing rank on him, though, as an outsider promoted above them seemingly without cause. I think the latter could actually contribute the most to his being clueless about day to day things like Ser Alrik.

Also, I think with Meredith's growing idol-fueled paranoia, she would increasingly isolate herself from everyone, not just him. So, I think it's anyone's guess as to whether or not he knew about the Right of Annulment... but Karras certainly did.

Yeah, it's something that really needs addressing in DA3 (especially if he's a companion), although I presume that he'd give some sort of explanation about why he's in Orlais and not with the Templar Order anymore or whatever.

Speaking of which. In that concept art of him from the leaked survey, he's still got the Templar crest on his tabard thingy. If it's real, then it makes me wonder if either A) he's still with the rebelled Order OR B) The newly rebelled order will have a different logo and Cullen wears the old insignia either for personal reasons or because the Templars that refused to rebel remain with the Order still associated with the Chantry.

It's Russian. The poster was asking how to use the network so I asked if there was a Russian version of the forum he/she could use to help. Thank the Maker for google translate LOL!

Ok here's a new question for everyone:

What sort of sex scene do you think Cullen would have? And I don't mean "will there be ****** 'n' arse and can I see his todger" lol, I'm talking about the type of scene you personally feel would suit him best. Like, will it be outdoors or inside? What kind of environment would you want it to take place in, would he be nervous and shy at first, or go in all guns blazing etc. Would you want there to be a scene where you see them cuddling after sexytime or would you prefer him to pull a Fenris stunt, make his excuses and get the hell out of there quick. Also, when it comes to the way in which the sex scene is put together, would you prefer it done in a similar way to the Mass Effect 3 scenes or do you actually wanna see dry humping in pants like the DA:O scenes.

Details please! :innocent:

Hmm, I'm not sure. I'd say out somewhere in the woods, not in the camp where everyone sleeps. lol I want him to be a little shy, but then kind of just go through it like a pro with some cuddling, we need some cuddling Bio! And he better freakin' stay and not leave like fenris, he better stay and just talk about something or confess his undyling love for our character. They don't need to show full on ****** 'n' arse, but at least just give some sort of indication that they're nude.

I think the only sex scene in DA2 that had cuddling was Merrill's as a friendmance (not sure about rivalmance, I'll have to check.) I really like you idea of them going somewhere to be away from the rest of the camp.

I actually prefer the idea of the sex scenes taking place outside, for some reason the DA:O ones felt more atmospheric for that reason. Ideally I'd like each potential LI to have an individual sex scene that occurs in a different environment. Not only would it make their scenes feel more personal, but it's more of an incentive to experiment by romancing different characters, thus increasing the replayability.

I would like to see it outside as well away from the party...and I really liked how ME3 did the love scenes so as far as the amount of skin showing im cool with that...and I would also like to see individual scenes like one in the camp maybe one by a nice waterfall...

Alistair's first night scene was so beautiful- if you can overlook the whole underwear thing- that could be better done, or at least better underwear. lol. But I picture it by a fire somewhere, or in t water like Cacey said.

Now I have to write it.

Thinking about it, it would be kinda fun to have his sex scene happen in the Chantry below a giant statue of Andraste with the candles surrounding it (kinda like the one in Kirkwall). Of course, it would probably only work if he's had some sort of crisis of faith (like if he discovered Andraste was a Mage or that the Chantry is corrupt and has forgotten the teachings of Andraste/the Maker), that being said he might still do it regardless, if he simply can't control his need for our protagonist any longer lol!
