I wish the game had made it clearer. Sometimes I wonder if none of it makes sense and contradicts itself because the game was rushed out the door.

Yeah probably lol But the lack of answers makes it easier for all of us to have separate head canons 8D

I think saying that Cullen was likely kept in the dark exonerates him too easily. I think when he says that "the tranquil solution" would have been better than what he fears may occur suggests that he KNOWS Meredith has taken steps in the wrong direction but that he isn't doing anything about it. I think at this point Cullen knows Meredith is crazy, but he doesn't want to admit it to himself, and so he's paralyzed, not wanting to disobey his superior, but feeling uncomfortable with what she intends to do.

Being in the dark about her concrete plans, as Lola's suggesting, though is different from having a feeling Meredith's going in the wrong direction. He admits the latter explicitly in Act 3 when you chat with him in the Gallows' courtyard and ask how he's doing. He says: "After what happened in Ferelden, I told myself I would never again question the purpose of the Order but it grows harder each day to tell if I am serving the Templars or only the Knight-Commander. It may be that they are no longer one and the same."

So, he's not an idiot; knows things have gotten worse. But at that point he still defends Meredith. He has "seen madness before...but she is not there yet." Still doesn't tell us if she's confiding in him, however.

Yeah I don't really see her confiding in anyone. I mean Meredith is the type to wrestle with her personal demons alone in the dark, you know? But the problem is that when she comes to a conclusion as to how to best handle the situation, it's her way or the highway xD I mean, she does look guilty when Hawke tries to defend mages, but it's like a superior race hanging her head and sighing about how she "has to" control the "inferior race" because it's for their own good, blah blah blah. Augh she is a frustrating woman.

But with Cullen, I think the big personal crisis for him is separating Meredith's orders from the Templar Order, hence why he's so wishy-washy (in my personal view ofc).

LOL Damn iPad that limits how much text I can post at once!
Anyhoo, so, yeah, I think he does know things aren't right, he sees how the mages are treated, and indeed he still hasn't done anything at this point. But I think it's still an open question if he knew she had actually gone around Elthina for the Right of Annulment already. If only we could ask him...

I agree; I think it's more like he just knows Meredith's nuts and that things are probably going to end badly. Lucky for him, Hawke is there to step in :P

ah, totally, agree. I think that's the defining question for him... Does he follow his conscience (aka what he thinks the Order stands for) or Meredith's master race paranoia? Then, further, what will he do when that ideal Order turns back into a Mage-hunting Inquisition?  Then what will he have left to believe in? Aaahh, new idea! He becomes super religious, going back to the original words of Andraste to find some meaning to his life's work. Crazy Hermit or monk? Going back to my Sergio Leone scenario from yesterday, maybe like a shoalin monk-like drifter, like Cane in Kung Fu... LOL

Anyway... Wishy washy, flip floppy, indecisive, deep thinker... Lots of ways to view his turmoil I think! LOL

 Yeah I'm kind of worried since I don't know how I'll react, especially if Cullen doesn't end up as a companion.

When I played ME3, I actually threw my controller to the floor really hard in a fit of rage over some part I hated and made me sad. Then the joystick didn't work too well so I had to buy a new controller haha.

Lol. The forums were crazy at that time. I might have cried more than once or twice or three times too. Those were some pretty emotional days for me hahaha. But shhh, don't tell anyone either. It might ruin my reputation of being a cold hearted **** hehe.

When they start announcing companions for DA3 I'm going to be in a fit of nervousness..well more than usual. I'll probably bite all my nails off or something. I won't sigh a sigh of relief until Cullen is announced. If not, well let the rage begin  May I have mercy on the people that get in my way that day. But hopefully that doesn't happen.

 I think all husbands, boyfriends, family, pets, etc.. should be warned and fully aware of what could happen if all the Cullen fans gets their hearts broken by BioWare.

When the time comes for DA3 announcements I'll just carry a warning sign around.

I think I'm going to make a warning sign for those days and put it on my bedroom door. I would have a picture of Cullen with his sword raised and say something like, "Enter at your risk. Smiting danger zone". :P

Guys I've been thinking about something. What are the chances that we'll get race selection again? If I play a male PC and wanna romance Cullen, I don't want to be forced to play a buff macho human guy. That's how it was with BroHawke unless you dressed him in certain outfits. He's a beast. I'm gonna cry if I have to romance Cullen with a buff warrior type.

I miss my cute Warden elves D:

LOL I was recently wondering what we'll do if he's not in DA3. For example, will our forum discussions go on with no new input...? Hmmm... Signs point to no.
