Guys I've been thinking about something. What are the chances that we'll get race selection again? If I play a male PC and wanna romance Cullen, I don't want to be forced to play a buff macho human guy. That's how it was with BroHawke unless you dressed him in certain outfits. He's a beast. I'm gonna cry if I have to romance Cullen with a buff warrior type.

I miss my cute Warden elves D:

Good question. My own gut feeling is no... But I don't really know why. Something about the feel from the few nuggets we've gotten from the devs on chargen. But my brain says it would be the prudent thing for BW to do.

LOL I was recently wondering what we'll do if he's not in DA3. For example, will our forum discussions go on with no new input...? Hmmm... Signs point to no.

If he's not in DA3 at all? It'll prolly die out eventually ... except for when people have no fanarts or fanfics to share. I mean you just run out of stuff to talk about after awhile. Like I used to hang out in the Fenris thread, but man we've talked that cute broody elf to death. I got nuthin else to say. And he's never coming back, so... :(  I admit I was holding out for DLC, but once it was announced we'd get no more (and thus no more Fenris) it just broke my spirit lol

I think you're right

In some sense, even though BW lets us create a unique-looking character, there is still a set look. At least with a guy. You can't make a cute and innocent looking human guy. You can make a cute girl and a bad ass girl, but default for a human guy is always buff and bad ass. Annoying.

you know, I just created another char for SWTOR and it was much less flexible than DA, only a few faces and body shapes (with the default being not stick thin!) but with Lotsa haircuts... And I kinda liked it more. The faces in DA I think had too many degrees of freedom, that too often I ended up with alien-looking chars. Would be nice to have more flexibility in some of these other characteristics... Like body type.

I hope BW has a broader range of customizations but I doubt it. Unless they're able to resurrect the DAO constructs for character building... maybe re-skin them? Of course that would mean still no long hair without mods (for PC gamers at least, the rest of us have to do without) But even just re-instating the options from DAO would be a welcome thing. I just doubt they can if they re-code the game to play differently, as per their promises. Most likely, adding different racial options would mean doing a fresh code for DA3 and if EA puts the squeeze on BW for time or money that may be left out. :?

Yeah and now that I think about it, body size and type is important those rare times I want to play a girl, too. In DA:O I enjoyed being able to make a dwarf female Warden because her body more resembled mine ... neither me nor my dwarf girl are fat, but we are curvy, damn it!! :P It was nice to play a female character who seemed more like myself (I wont' say "normal" because many girls are normally slender, ofc).

Yeah like height, breadth of shoulders, muscularity, chest and hip size ... I don't mean you should be able to make Pam Anderson or anything, but if you want a girl with big hips and small breasts, or if you want a girl who'se curvy all around ... then why the hell shouldn't you be able to make that? Or maybe you want to make a small guy, a Joseph Gordon-Levitt cutie type, instead of Denzel Washington or something lol

Athletic people come in all shapes and sizes, BW! (Assuming PC has to at least be somewhat athletic here lol)

Well, that's sorta my (poorly made) point. The DA chargen has so many degrees of freedom that you end up not changing any of the settings because otherwise you end up with something weird. So most characters in DA2, for example, ended up looking identical because most of us started with the presets and didn't deviate much.

edit: For example, my second character apparently looked almost identical to Norah at the Hanged Man. But the first time I noticed...I was in Varric's suite, and she comes traipsing in... looks at me and walks out. For a moment, I thought... is it a weird plot point that someone identical to me is at Hanged Man...?

Damn! That's probably true. :? Now I wanna see if I can't try and make a truly exotic looking Hawke that doesn't appear weird.

The time and money is a major hurdle I think. I wonder what kind of deadline they've been given?  Time wise DA2 came out in March 2011. Last October the Devs showed us concept art. There fore they had already been working on DA3.Its been a year since they did that.

I'm hopeful because of that. I hope the devs are sitting on art and concepts that they had set aside during DA II's development and that they've been fleshing out stuff all this time so that when the game is officially announced, the actual dev time wll be approximately 2 years or more instead of the "official" time from announcement to release.

Maybe they'll take a page from Ubisoft's playbook with how the Assassin's Creed franchise has been developed. Originally AC: Brotherhood was supposed to be the Rome chapter of ACII but they soon realised they didn't have enough time to add all the stuff from Rome that they wanted to add and it was really so big, it could be another game. Plus AC II was big enough without it.

So they made ACB with the Rome chapter and expanded it and introduced multiplayer. The content they had amassed helped get ACB done in a year and with all the extra content they had and developed during ACB, gave them a good start on Assassin's Creed Revelations when they decided to work on it alongside Brotherhood. And THAT came out a year after ACB! The games have all been great with exception to the occasional glitch because of a short play test time to find them all. But on the whole, most AC fans love the games. As each was being developed, there was work being done on the next  - and at times, the one after that! lol! So I hope this is what's going on at Bioware, if not to the same degree, at least it'll be something before the deadline begins counting down. Perhaps we'll see the canceled DLC content in the next game? Maybe there were other DLC ideas that are now going to be in DA 3? It sucks to wait but if they can further refine an idea rather than rush it out as DLC, that can only add to a game, imho.

There have been hints they've been working on DA3 since DA2 came out, and they have said they're including some of the canceled DLC content in the new game... So, like Samara, I'm actually hopeful that they're spending the "appropriate" time. I do wish they would tell us something... But given how calm, rational and non-judgmental DA fans are... I agree with their decision to wait til they can really show us something good. I mean, look what happened with potentially fake leaks... :(

The Official Announcement really doesn't have anything to do with the contract with EA. It all is behind closed doors to when they were to actually start DA3. I suspect that the scrapping of the last dlc was them saying it was time to pull all resorces to to DA3. EA could have given the 18 months like DA2 or maybe longer this time. 2yrs. I can't see EA giving them any longer. They (EA) are in for the $$$$$. Don't get me wrong I have total faith in the DA Dev team. Say we get a announcement at the VGAs when they do this the games release date is usually within a year. All They need for the VGAs is a Awesome trailer like they did with DA2 or ME3 to peak everyones interest. I will fall out of my seat if a trailer Shows Cullen
