The Official Announcement really doesn't have anything to do with the contract with EA. It all is behind closed doors to when they were to actually start DA3. I suspect that the scrapping of the last dlc was them saying it was time to pull all resorces to to DA3. EA could have given the 18 months like DA2 or maybe longer this time. 2yrs. I can't see EA giving them any longer. They (EA) are in for the $$$$$. Don't get me wrong I have total faith in the DA Dev team. Say we get a announcement at the VGAs when they do this the games release date is usually within a year. All They need for the VGAs is a Awesome trailer like they did with DA2 or ME3 to peak everyones interest.
It makes me sad how EA is generally only in it for money, but that is the world we live in. However, i am with you on having faith in the DA Dev team (Some may call it blasphemy, but I actually love DA2). I believe they will make something great and I'm excited for the announcement. Even more excited for a trailer or official news of any sort
Especially if said news says anything about Cullen being a companion and LI

If Cullen's in a trailer, people will need to be arms/legs length away as to avoid my flailing limbs.
I was thinking the exact same thing!

I really loved DA2 as well It had a few quirks but nothing major. Knowing what we do I expect our DA Devs to give us something awesome blowing our minds. I'm a optimist :happy:JellyBean28 wrote...

Also My opinion is if they plan on a big game, if they can't get it all in before the deadline I say we see alot of dlc's. Look at all the dlc's for Orgins.kellyofthemagi wrote...

I'm with you there!
DA2 had some flaws (what game doesn't?), but nothing that would make me say I hate it or that I don't like it. I enjoyed it. But that is a totally different conversation for another thread.
I'm an optimist as well and I feel the DA Dev team will give us a great game.

I know but the official announcement contributes to people's perception of how long a title takes to develop. And in my example, I was trying to highlight how AC content has been developed for other games even when those games weren't being worked on in any official capacity, announced or not. I just meant that if DA3 has had any prep work before actual start time of development, so much the better!
EA being in it for the money, striking while the iron was hot and bungling the sequel to DAO just smacked of a money grab. DAO was a success but they (EA) probably thought it wouldn't be a huge money draw over the long term so they wanted to hurry up and get another bang, regardless of it potentially dooming the franchise. Because - hey - it's not a life long title anyway right? <_< Guess they learned that assessment was wrong.
And if they release a trailer that has Cullen in it, I think this forum would implode! hehehe....

The downside is, if DA3 is a disappointment, EA can go "I told you so!" and never bother with another Dragon Age title.
Either that or they were trying to keep pace with other big games such as AC. But that game dev model is hard to do if you don't Big Bucks and lots of offices everywhere.

EA...always the money grabbing bad guys
They need to let BioWare do their thing, imo <3
But as I said before, I trust the DA Dev team to make a great game so they can show EA what they can really do
I don't really wanna think about EA telling them "I told you so!" and never releasing another DA game
And yes, if they release a trailer with Cullen in it (even a glimpse) this forum would implode in SECONDS.

I wasn't trying to argue. Sorry if it seemed so. All companies are in business to make money. They have bills to pay as we do.I was trying to make a small point earlier. DA2 came out March 2011. If they started any DA3 work after that. Then so far Its been 15months so far 1 yr ago was when they revealed that concept art. So Im assuming they have been on it for quite awhile now. They've had the VAs in already. They are using the same art format which saves time there. So if they give us a trailer in December at the VGAs they could still have another year to tweek and perfect. I don't think we will see the full game in its entirety we will have dlcs.or maybe even a exspansion. They are bound to EA and thats there way, I believe not Biowares though. If they give us a release date of Dec 2013 thats roughly under 2yr developement as far as I could figure.SamaraDraven wrote...

Oh no, you're fine! You don't seem argumentative at all. I was just trying to be more specific in what I meant. I see your point: Already DA3 would have more dev time than DA2 had if they announce it this December and give it a year after. I guess we agree but in different ways? The official beginning of the contract probably has begun, especially if they're bringing VAs in. I just hope that DA3 has had maybe even more time than the official contract because they were working on stuff before EA ever gave a new title the green light.

What are your major "wants" in DA3? (Aside from better character creator options/races/choices that matter/ working import flags)
Mine are:
1) Cullen as a romancable companion (obviously lol)
2) Some sort of playable prologue/origin where you get to experience the protagonist's life prior to his/her big adventure
3) More interaction with our companions (something akin to DA:O)
4) Romances that add an extra dimension to the story
5) Romances that don't feel shallow or rushed
6) Interaction between protagonist and LI throughout the game, not just during their quests
7) Orlesian masquerade ball
8) A home base that changes depending on environment/situation (sometimes outside, sometimes inside etc)
9) Weather - perhaps some quests could happen during a storm/snow/sunset/sunrise etc.
10) Clarification of just how aware Cullen was about the shady deeds going on in the Gallows
11) Pretty/stunning environments
12) Fights/battles that make use of the surrounding environment (like the final boss fight in MotA)

Also...
1. More than 4 LI
2. All LI bisexual
3. LI cares about PC and vice versa (LI will voice his/her opinion if PC is hurt, etc.)
4. Non-stressful romance (meaning I don't stress out thinking I fcuked it up somehow lol)
5. Ability to change companins' outfits
6. Ability for PC to not be restricted to class when it comes to weapons and clothes
7. In the event that the above is not possible -- PANTS FOR MAGES
8. More than one love scene -- NOT for the sex; I DON'T want to see sex -- but show evidence that the PC and LI actually are sharing a life together (without disrupting plot ofc)
9. A happy medium between the DAO and DA2 elf design
10. Ambient female characters in pants
11. NO DEEP ROADS
12. NO FADE
EDIT: I accidentally hit "tab" a couple times instead of shift and somehow that posted this prematurely, but I guess that's a long enough list lol
EDIT: Forgot to add, I'd like a story mode. I enjoyed my second ME3 playthrough via story mode so much. I hate having to mod my xbox saves just toplay story mode.
