Yeah, it's still not as lively as usual, mainly because we've all been in the new DA3 forum putting our thoughts across because the devs are taking notes lol.

I love that there's something to be excited about regarding Dragon Age! We all were mostly assuming but it's a relief and exciting to know it really is coming and that we weren't chasing shadows.

I find I get it the most with Bioware games. I literally prep myself so that the minute it arrives I can put the game on and play without interruption. So I'll have taken a week off work, done all the house work, dealt with any appointments/arrangements, fed the cats, showered/eaten/etc and be ready in my PJ's or comfy clothing to sit and play the game for hours. Ah man, nothing beats the feeling of your first ever playthrough of a Bioware game, where you haven't got a clue where you're going, where anything is, who you're going to meet (and when), or what's going to happen.
I'm gonna try really hard not to read any big spoilers this time round (like I did with DA3), if there's a script leak I wanna try to avoid it... Obviously I'd ask if Cullen is romancable but that's all I'd want to know.

I didn't even know a new DA3 thread had been added! I haven't been able to be on here much for that last couple of days. I'm gonna go check that out!

Yeah, it's only got the general section currently, but that'll grow as they release more details to the public. It's nice that they've officially announced it though, I was expecting it to be at the VGA's as a big trailer or something... But I guess those leaks kinda forced their hand a little.
Still, the tweets from the DA team are bound to be more interesting from now on! Role on Sprint Review Day!

Is it just me, or does anyone else get really excited when a brand new game they've really been looking forward to playing arrives?

I've done that too. I did it with DAII and all my Assassin's Creed titles. I spent the day of the midnight release cleaning and getting stuff out of the way, bought my energy drinks and snacks and made sure my fave lounge clothes were clean - or bought a new set of PJs, but they were Transformers themed for girls! I made sure I ate, turned my phone ringers off and when I got the game in my hands I didn't crack anything in the wrapping until I was seated and ready to play! lol!
Edit:

Maybe they decided to go ahead and announce it now to ramp up hype for the VGAs? Maybe they'll have a little something to show then? But they wanted to create a buzz that would increase alertness for possible tidbits?

The only reason I spoilt myself for ME3, is because I started looking on the forum for a little more detail and saw all the negativity about the leaked script's ending, so I decided to read a bit of it but ended up reading the whole bloody thing though. Man, I hope the ending for DA3 isn't going to give us no option to save our protagonist, especially if we finally have the option to romance Cullen!

I was totally the same way for ME3. The week leading up to the release I made sure my room was clean and I had everything important that needed to be done taken care of. I even worked out more than regular just to make sure I was fit just in case I didn't want to stop playing the game to go and work out. The only bad thing that happened was that I injured my tail bone while exercising a couple of days before the release so when I actually played the game I couldn't sit down properly, so it was very uncomfortable. I couldn't sit for like 2 weeks after. But that didn't stop me from playing. I even got my N7 shirt to wear on release day too:P.
But I didn't spoil myself for ME3 because I avoided the forums for a while. That's why the endings and many things in the game were a great disappointment. I'm also going to try and avoid spoilers for DA3. Like LolaLei said, I just want to know if Cullen is a LI and who the other companions might be. It's going to be so freakin hard though to avoid spoilers.

It's gonna suck avoiding the forum prior to it's release!
Oh I know! I might have to lock away my laptop and turn off wifi from my phone so that I won't spoil myself by coming in here haha.

Hopefully we won't end up with any major spoilers, so we'll only have to avoid the forum for a couple of days depending on when your copy arrives in the post.

Yeah. It would be nice if the Cullen thread, this one or hopefully the official DA3 one when it gets made, stays spoiler free so that we can at least still come in here. But some people still spoil everything even though it says no spoilers.
You can bet your arse some little sh!t would come in and let out a spoiler, just to be a bastard lol. Maybe we should make a private Cullen non-spoiler group nearer the time?

That would be a great idea! So those little ****ers can't ruin anything haha.
It's funny how the Cullen thread has grown to this size and almost beat Merill's and he wasn't even a companion

Love him or hate him, he's a very strong character from a writers POV.
