Holy crap, I have to work and do homework and come back to find like 10 more pages to read. You ladies are killing me!
But don't stop, I always like to read more stuff.
To catch up...
Jasmine96:I think I may be one of the few in this thread that didn't care much for Anders. My first play through I romanced him. My Hawke was a mage, he was a mage, figured I'd give it a run. Second, third, and fourth play throughs, nope. I added the mod that allowed Merrill to be a spirit healer just so I wasn't forced to use his character in my party. :/ I know, no sense with story canon, but hey I played through legitimately once! So yeah, I really didn't have any issue stabbing him in playthroughs 2,3, and 4.

And I also read Asunder and highly recommend it for anyone that hasn't yet read. I read it from cover to cover in one Saturday.

For DA2 death scenes vs. ME3, I whole-heartedly agree that ME3 had some glorious and beautiful death scenes and I hope the devs take note for DA3. I have *never* cried during a game, but ME3 spawned tears from me many times (even before the ending, but that made me cry out of disappointment).
I had a bad feeling about the death scenes in DA2 from the get-go. From when Hawke's sibling dies, to Wesley in the first ten minutes, both of them felt just so... meh. Later on with Leandra, I so wanted to feel that emotion, but I just couldn't. I enjoyed the story as a whole, but there was just so much missed opportunity during the journey in general that I'm not surprised DA2 wasn't very well-received.
However, in the big picture, DA2 was a story that needed to be told to set the stage for DA3. From the start of DAO there was so much backstory of Tevinter and how that led to current mage/chantry politics, that if I had missed that slow unraveling of the delicate balance between mage and templar in DA2, I wouldn't be nearly as emotionally invested in what I hope will be an epic story in DA3.
