Ok here's a new question:
If we get playable origin prologue(s) back again in DA3, what sort of storyline would you like?
One idea I've has is that we start out in a quiet little village (perhaps it's a mage settlement if you pick the mage class). We run around during the day doing a bunch of mini quests of varying importance in order to get to know our friends/family/background with the aid of a temporary companion who's a friend of your protagonist, you can flirt with said temp companion if you want and perhaps it's suggested that he/she has a crush on your or that your dating/whatever. As night falls you retire to your bed *que fade to black cutscene*. From the players POV we see a black screen as we start to hear screaming and the sound of fire/etc vaguely in the background and we see through the eyes of our protagonists as he/she slowly opens her eyes, suddenly there's a loud bang as your friend bashes through the door waking you up in the middle of the night and the POV returns to third person like normal. We discover that the village/settlement is under attack by rebel Templars/outsiders taking the law into their own hands.
Running outside you see the destruction raging through the streets, as dead bodies lay everywhere and houses/tents are set ablaze, above you a storm brews in the sky (to add to the atmosphere). Fighting your way through the area, you and your friend try to look survivors to guide them to safety, but just as you think you're safe enemies appears and catch you off guard, knocking you to the floor. Just as they are about to kill you, your friend pushes you out the way taking the blow for you/resorts to blood magic to save you but in the process turns into an abomination, as he/she bleeds out/begins to change into an abomination he/she tells you to run. There's no one else left alive, so you do what your told and run into the near by woods. *Que cutscene of you looking back at the ruins of your former life from atop of a hill as a storm beats down and lightening cracks in the sky*
... And that's probably when Flemeth comes to save your arse lol.
Ooh, very foreboding and exciting. Bioware should totally hire you on as a writer
Unfortunately, I don't think we'll get that chance again to choose our origins. It seems like it will be a set thing as far as our character leading the Inquisition, but hey maybe I'll be surprised!
If we were, I'd really like something like you suggested. Where we get to play as a part of our enviroment to get a feel for our character's life pre-chaos.
