Oh quick question sort of on topic.Do you guys like that companions had their own specializations or do you want to go back to DA: O?

So, getting a bit back on topic. Cullen's ahem skills. What did you guys think of the templar skill tree?? I thought it was kinda... limited. I pretty much used Holy Smite and that was it...

I never really like the Templar tree in any of the games then again I really didn't like any of the specializations, but I'd hope Cullen gets a rather unique one in Inquisition. Like maybe it's largely the same but tweaked a little so that he's awesome with actually taking out mages AND abomination whereas the PC is just good at nullifying magical abilities. Cassandra for instance would be best against both sides.

The weirdest thing I've ever seen based on Templar skills is in DA2, when Cullen throws his sword into the ground, pulls out this ball of... Idon'tknowwhat and then throws it at the bad guy. Also, I find this kinda odd, feck knows what he's doing here:

He's stunning the enemy with his dazzling good looks. They are helpless against his attacks.

"Blue steel!"

The camera accidentally went off during combat, he's not a model.

I liked that they had their specializations that they could teach your PC if the PC was compatible, as they did in DAO.

I liked that the idea of them each having their own specialisations that's unique to them again. I wonder what Cullen's would be?

I just got asunder and I was wondering should I have gotten the calling and stolen throne? Is there anything in the books that would be in Asunder?

Pax spoke about choosing ONE specialization for your PC. And that spec would change some aspect of the game. So being a blood mage actually matter.
As for Companions I liked how they did it with DA2.

Ooh, I like that idea. I was a little peeved to find out that romancing Anders as a Templar made no difference whatsoever Posted Image

I like the sound of choosing one specialisation for my protagonist, mainly because in DA:O and DA2 a lot of the specialisations went to waste because they didn't get used at all. Or at least, with me they didn't.

*Edit* One thing I do hope that they do, is introduce the choice of specialisation into the storyline. So for example, if you play as a mage, during the prologue you run into a blood mage who offers to teach you the "ancient arts" of blood magic.

I've always thought, he's doing something that affects the Fade or the Veil, maybe, so it disrupts a mage's ability to draw power through it. It looks like some kind of lyrium energy to me.

This isn't templar specific, or Cullen specific, they're the boss skills they get. Like rallying the underlings and that. Still dunno what the shiny ball of magic is either, but you see the other bosses do it, too.

edit: this screenshot was always rather funny...

No. If you played DA:O and DA2 you're good. It was the first book I read.

edit the other two are more closely linked to each other, although I read the second before the first. Still made sense, but it probably would have been better the other way around since some of the reveals were then spoiled.

Me, too. It will be nice to really focus on something instead of wasting point here and there on things I would never use.

My pleasure. I'm actually still on Stolen Throne since I read them all in exactly opposite chronological order... and I'm wondering if I'm bored because I know everything that happens already in detail... :?

I didn't notice that. Maybe it's simply to let the player know when someone is using their special move, regardless of what it actually is?

This is what I want too. Sort of like how the different specilizations could be unlocked in DA:O through companions/story.

Honestly, I don't know more than that, except that it's why they recommend you take out the bosses first since they do this rallying, group buff thing. Last time I tried to look it up, I couldn't find anything written about it anywhere. But  I got a couple of ":eyeroll: it's a boss thing" type responses when I asked.

Lol should have read them in order. I wanted to get the other two, but I didn't want to be the stereotypical college kid eating ramen noodles as an everyday meal because I went overboard w/spending.

OK... LOL I may have found something. Looks like it's a "Commander" rank ability, and the exact buff they can give out varies by faction.  edit: and it looks like the shiny grenade thing is a ... grenade...? for lack of a better word...

From http://social.biowar...ndex/8014189/1

[Commander]
The commander archetype not only presents a tough fight individually, but also plays a supporting role as well as direct command of its allies that greatly increases the peril posed by an opposing force. They can extend an aura over the battlefield, healing and conferring specific benefits on their allies. This archetype is also capable of self-defensive abilities and boasts a powerful medium-to-long range debilitation spell or Area of Effect artillery.
The aura appears as a halo around the commander's allies’ feet, though it may be lifted temporarily if the commander is stunned or incapacitated. This is one way to turn off the buff they provide for their subordinate ranks. Another would be to kill them outright. These auras vary and are specific to the faction of the Commander.
---Traits---
Immune to Silence; High armor and fortitude
---Abilities---
Aura of X - Any number of specific effects can be relayed by this aura to the commander's allies.
Field of Effect - From this single ability multiple effect may be employed by the different types of commanders you will encounter. From the Mass Pull of a Revanent, to the grenade of a human commander which can slow, damage, and interrupt anyone in a small area all in a single attack.
Faction Specific Incapacitation - Generally a single target stun.
Command - the commander can order his surrounding allies to focus on a single target.
Use of Potions

Nothing from Stolen Throne or the Calling is in Asunder.

But if you get Stolen Throne I reccomend getting the Calling as well.

In Asunder it says that the Orlesian Nobles wear mask out in public to show their importance etc. Wouldn't it be awesome to get into some sort of trouble in which a "silent masked stranger" helps save your arse, when you get to safety they remove the mask and it turns out to be Cullen, who was incognito due to being on the run from the rebel Templars or something.
