I mean ... seriously?? Perhaps I should just save the URLs for those and keep repeating them in the new threads...
Thanks for the heads up Battlebloodmage.

We seriously need some types of Cullen information thread in DA3 board, so people don't have to keep asking the same question about Cullen. It might be fun to invade that board. There is a heavy risk that the thread may get locked but the prize.

OH dear, threw in my two cents. How is it that the devs usually jump on any repeated threads and lock them, but they let this one keep cropping up? This is literally the third in the last week, and I may even have missed some...

If they really are going for controversy, they should definitely make Cullen a companion and LI. The haters would go *nuts*.

I also think the scene where he takes Beth away is fascinating. I absolutely love the looks he and Hawke share when she threatens him. He is SO ready to throw down with her. As far as why he doesn't kill Beth out of hand... based on what he tells Meredith when the three mages surrender in Act 3, I just don't think that's his style. He seems to believe very strongly in the "we should watch them for signs of corruption" model, so Beth's for the Circle, the end.
I think he let's Hawke and family off easy because of her service to him. I think someone used the word "loyalty" to Hawke earlier, and I would say I don't think it's loyalty so much as debt. I agree that Hawke probably saved his ass when he fought Wilmod, plus she solved the whole Tarohne plot for him, so he and the Order are in her debt (even tho he paid her for it...). But he seems like honor would be a big deal to him, and so that would be the honorable thing to do (along with giving Hawke the heads up about "the rumors" about Beth during Act 1).
Now, just taking Bethany to the Circle without repercussions for the family may not seem like letting them off "easy" but in contrast, keep in mind that in Act 3 Meredith is sending out death squads to kill people who even give an apostate shelter for a night. So in some sense this could already be signs of his differing view of the Order from Meredith's.
The thing we hear a lot here in the Cullen thread, tho, is like what motomotogirl said, it doesn't matter if he did it nicely, he took Hawke's sister and threw her in prison. That pissed a lot of folks off, since it makes the Templar mission suddenly personal. And, by coming in person, Cullen makes himself the posterboy for that choice, for good or ill.
Just love this look he gives Hawke... tee hee...

OMG... you know, we should. Maybe not a thread, but a blog entry called "Cullen FAQ: The case for Cullen" or something like that. LOL
1. Why did Cullen take Beth to the Circle?
2. Why is he in Kirkwall if he went batsh!t insane at the end of DA:O and killed all those mages?
3. Why did Cullen want to arrest the Champion in Act 3?
4. Why did Cullen not stand up to Meredith sooner?
...
Gah, the list could go on, and on, and on...

Good one. Indeed, Why him? He's not even goodlooking, he has no personality, he doesn't do anything, he's not even in the game(s), you didn't even shag him...
then,
6. Why did Cullen only stand up to Meredith once she wanted to kill Hawke?
Vieralynn was going to write a manifesto about him that we could just refer to. I think she started part of it...

My question is would Cullen be like those guys essentially and develop a romance with one of our other companions or be like Anders, all anti-social and terroristy.
Personally I think he would get involved with someone though who it is, would be a mystery. The answer that pops into my head would be Cassandra, but considering that the matching in 2 were of almost polar opposites I think he might romance a mage or maybe even Sera. Just my 2 cents.

Who it might be...? Dunno. Depends on who that clipboard girl is, but I could sorta see him with someone who is more rule bound than he is, so that suddenly he's the lighthearted one in the relationship and it draws out that side of him more. Cass might even be another example of that.

So, it's the Seeker symbol, not Inquisition.

FYI, over on the twitter thread, someone posted a clearer view of this image, and bigger. I've also heard that it was originally DA2 concept art last time it was posted, from... the strat guide or PnP guide? Something like that.

I have the strategy guide for DA II, I'll flip through it and see if I see it.
Edit: Found it! Well, so much for that...

Awesome, does it says what it is? I'm thinking maybe Lowtown concept art?? I know there's deleted dialogue that Cassandra came to Kirkwall during the game.

Interesting question! I could see him having a crush on one of the other characters, but I'd like to think that starting a real romance would be an unusual thing for him. So, our PC would be the unusual case that gets him past that potential barrier of 'should I/shouldn't I'. Something that always bugged me about Fenris and Isabela is that he still does that after Fenris ran out on you. So he can't have sex with you because of bad memories, but suddenly he makes it work with Isabela? Also, with Seb, he's more demonstrative with Beth in one short DLC than he is with Hawke the whole damn game. So, in a similar vein, I'd just want to make sure that the other relationship had similar limitations to what I see happening in a PC-Cullen romance.

I think Fenris was just afraid of his feelings and used the bad memories as a crutch to stand in the way of his inability to cope with being happy. As for Sebastian I think it's just the flirty flirty thing that we men tend to do when we're in a commited relationship. Sometimes we just flirt because we can, but don't mean anything by it.
I think it would be cool if Cullen is the light hearted part of a relationship but Ithink a major part of his pull is that small bit of angst.

Agree, but I suppose I see a lot of this for the main PC romance. In fact I'd be disappointed if we didn't see that in our PC romance. But I think it would be hard to sum all that up in two or three throw away banter lines between him and another companion.Danny Boy 7 wrote...

I doubt it would be fully involved like a PC romance, might be light flirting or just physical. I think it would be cool if we could set up a couple of companions. I mean I was dying to do that with Carver and Merrill, but NOOO had to be the socially inept Aveline *grumble grumble*.
