The silhouette looks kinda like Morrigan with her hood up:

I dare say some of that art is probably from the DA2 concept stuff, so keep that one in mind.

Yeah ame, except I'll be having a bromance with Cullen no matter what lol.
You know who I want back even just for a little fan service? Sigrun, the one and only dwarf I ever considered romancing...ever.
I really liked Sigrun too. Much more than that elf girl from Awakening too which I forget her name. It be nice to see Sigrun again even though I wouldn't romance her. Varric has been the only dwarf I would ever romance. Unless they make a better one. But I doubt any other dwarf could beat Varric
I wasn't keen on the Elf in Awakenings either. Someone I would like to see again is Dagna.
Velanna really was the average Dalish imo. I can't really hate her because she is voiced by my favorite female VA evar. Wuv you Grey Delisle.

Do you suppose that if Cullen is a romancable companion we'll find out that his lack of "action/women" in recent years is due to the trauma he endured at Kinloch Hold, specifically being tormented with illusions of his female mage crush (if you played as the female mage Warden) and that he has come to view his sexuality as a weakness, and simply doesn't allow himself to indulge those feelings at all anymore/at all because he needed to remain focused on his job/duties.
I can easily picture him being exactly like this. I'm thinking that he would try his hardest not to fall in love again because he's just had so much trauma in his life and he doesn't want to get hurt again or doesn't want to hurt you. I believe that that's why he became the Knight-Captain because he gave all of himself to his work and tried to forget about his feelings and women.
I really hope we do find out what's going on inside that head of his.

Have you guys seen these? They're from the PAX panel back in April apparently:

You know this may be a first but almost nothing is popping up for me. I think maybe if it's related to DA 3 in anyway the first pic is of the Chantry post 'splosion

OMG, Lola, I love you for posting this. It was a thought I had last night that I hope DG doesn't start taking a page from the book of Shatner and tell us to get a life.LolaLei wrote...

Urgh, the reasons people are coming up with in that Cullen hate thread as to why they think fan girls like him is just getting ridiculous.
Honestly, I still can't believe that the devs are allowing a thread that makes fun of the fans and isn't about the character. Seems pretty meanspirited.
And honestly, bashing on fangirls is just par for the course in the women in gaming bashing that so often happens. I would have thought BW would keep that out of their forums. I am disappoint.
New mantra for today... try not to visit the Cullen hate thread.

Eloquent as always my dear! Indeed in some sense our "imaginations" are sort of the point of RPGing, aren't they? I finally realized recently one of the reasons I enjoy Dragon Age and discussing it ad nauseum is that it appeals to the researcher in me, ferreting out and understanding the little bits of lore, in addition to the various characters who have sparked my interest. No other game or book or property has fostered my creative side in this way, and this is coming from a lifelong serious Star Wars fan. But I've never even considered writing fanfiction about Star Wars, for example.SamaraDraven wrote...

I didn't get the impression he was hinting anything about the future. Just saying we're extrapolating too far for what we've seen up to this point, which apparently he doesn't think is enough for our 20pg essays. .. Yeah, still smarting a bit.
That seems a little bit too much of a blanket statement for we Cullen fans, I think. We don't sit and make stuff up about him. We discuss what we know has happened and how that could have affected him. So I think it's not accurate for any dev to say we make stuff up. I mean, Cullen's time spent being tortured by Uldred's abominations may not have been shown but we know it happened and can debate what that may have been like for him, what he thought, how he felt, etc. That alone is worth a 20 page essay.
I think it speaks highly of us to not just take what we're given and roll with it. Instead we try to understand the things we didn't see ourselves. I thought that was what a good game is supposed to do. I know when I played table top RPGs, my friends and I would have long discussion about why a character was the way they were and how such a person with 'X' type of personality would handle it. We all do that with our PCs. We pick a "theme" for how we play our warden's and Hawke's and run that as the canon for the playthrough. I'v done it as hardcore Templar and now as balls-to-the-wall mage revolutionary who's in the thick of it with Anders. It only makes sense for players who get so much value out of the games to analyze and think about the world they're playing in.
Coming back to Cullen, you're right, he has been written with a number of intriguing conflicts that beg to be explored. While it would be hilarious if those are literally just inconsistencies in the writing, I like to think that it makes the character an enigma with real flaws to consider. With any kind of literary analysis, the analyzer inevitably ends up finding layers and themes that were not explicitly intended by the creator. It's a natural part of the process that I would hope is flattering to the creator that we bother to dig so deep, instead of being vaguely concerning.
So, here's hoping I can get my fangirl flame reignited again today... that fic's not going to write itself!
Happy Tuesday, folks!

It is irritating, though. It didn't bother me at first, but the more I think about it, the more it gets under my skin. Why *should* a fan-bashing thread be allowed to remain when a legitimate character discussion thread was shut down? It's possibly to avoid the creation of half a dozen *new* fan-bashing threads, but still.

It's really frustrating how "fangirl" is a derisive term and an insult while "fanboy" is a source or pride and camaradarie. That's one of my annoyances of these threads, it always calls on the fangirls to justify themselves instead of just debating Cullen for the most part (not everyone in the thread obviously - there are those who bring up legitimate critiques of his character without doing this, but all of these threads that I've opened frequently drop the word "fangirl" as a dismissive term).

Y'all don't make me pull out my soapbox and burn my bra now... LOL The "fangirl" term has always irked me for these exact reasons. And I'd say that at least half of us here would no longer be considered girls anyway. I'm myself would probably be more of an old banshee.... or would that make me a "Fanshee"?

And, indeed, agree with all of you, and charlottecorday, I was just thinking the same thing about the term fanboy this morning as well. Letting the BSN forumites sharpen their knives on the fangirls seems a bit beneath BW, given their usual support of women in gaming. I know, freedom of speech and all that, but isn't this sort of the point of that irritating new terms of use banner I keep needing to close when I enter the forums?
A few days ago it took a lot less for them to lock a thread...
