But that said, their primary mode of transport was by sea, and both Kirkwall and V.R. have ports. So, VR is in principle only a few days by ship. LOL I bet it takes longer to wait for a spot in the Divine's schedule than to get to the city.

If the winds are good. It took 2 weeks to get from Gwaren to Kirkwall, and Isabela and the Qunari dreadnaught chased each other around the Sea of Swords for "days" before getting caught in a storm and getting shipwrecked.

But as you say, I don't know how high a priority the Divine would place on a (or another) demand bearing the Kirkwall seal. I imagine she gets a lot of correspondence from that quarter.

Or she could have been stalling until she had her own ducks lined up.

We also don't know whether the messanger took public or private transport, I mean how many stops could have been made along the way? Not to mention the possible docking hoops one might have to jump through just to get a foreigner into Orlais.

I'm curious though whether Orlais got as many Ferelden refugees as say Kirkwall. I mean how many Fereldens would have willingly left to go to their sworn enemy? I mean you could say that if they were that patriotic they wouldn't have left at all, but who knows right?

As a side note: Squee female Kossith is awesome! Also I'm wondering why the Tassmarran has the name Rasaan? Is that like a sub speciality or something? Like Tassmarrans are the priests, but Rasaans are the Inquisitors (see what I did there) who sort of interrogate a prisoner to see if they are worthy or reeducation.

Ah, good points. I was remembering VR only being  a couple 100 miles away, but looking again at my "travel in thedas" notes, I suppose it's closer to 500-600, and ships around then are expected to do about 100 miles a day. (the Gwaren to Kirkwall route is expected to be along the coast I guess).

So a non-trivial amount of time. I do wonder when Meredith first sent for it, tho. Hmm.

In other news sis is becoming assimilated. Since she has pretty much mastered the controls of DA2 and has completed 5 playthroughs (the last 3 with absolutely no assistance from me), I have introduced her to DA:O. We're back to me telling her where to click the mouse, but the important thing is that it's no longer about the novelty of playing a video game. She is getting sucked into the lore and is falling in love with the characters. Inevitable, really. It's all part of my plan.

MWAAHAHAH!

Aha, how old is she? My sis is nine (and autistic). So she sees me playing and wants to play too but she always ends up giving me the controller and walking off...  :?

It was only a matter of time before she fell to the siren's call. How long before we can expect her on here onthe forums? Posted Image

That's how my sister is. She thinks I'm childish for playing games but then she asks me who I romanced and who I'm going to romance next haha :P. She likes my games, she just pretends she doesn't.

I don't even squee!!!! I was just chatting with my brother-in-law (her husband), for example, after we both first bought DA2, and asking him if he'd done this or that quest, and I thinking warning him not to talk to Aveline at the end of Act 2 unless he'd gotten everything done, blah blah blah. And she butted in, "It's so ridiculous, listen to yourselves! How can you be so involved in something that isn't even real. It's bizarre." We were just like, oh and you don't read novels and watch movies?!

That girl, I swear! :pinched:

If my sister knew I participated in this forums, she'd just shake her head at me and fuss at me for not getting enough work done lol

My sister has no interest in them, besides the occasional Mario game. By occasional, I mean years in between. She thinks video games are for dorks or hyper-active teenagers and looks down on most genre stuff like Star Trek, fantasy novels, etc. To her, only losers like that stuff. Meh... =/ She's a clubbing and weed toking and scantily dressed kind of girl. Which is all fine, as I can't say I haven't been there, done that but... It'd be nice if that wasn't all she liked. I think the only thing she and I have had in common in the past 10 years is a love of Eminem, True Blood and The Borgias.

My mom is ok with me playing video games just as long as I don't ignore her while she's trying to talk to me while playing or I don't scream at the tv, but I do all the time anyways haha.

My brother plays games too but he says my games are stupid...says the one who only plays CoD type stuff. But yet he still watches me play while playing my "stupid" games. :P

Gamer prejudice is ridiculous. I like taking names and kicking ass in a FPS as much as I like romancing the pants off a hot girl or cute guy in an RPG.

I will add that it's mostly the young folks (I think) who have the prejudices. Most older gamers (30+) like what they like and respect what others like, and also open to new games.

I detest gamer elitism... "Oh you don't play a 'real game' so you're not a gamer." RPGs were around looong before FPS games in the form of tabletop sessions. But I digress, they're all games and they're all valid. It irks me that some people seem to think there has to be a benchmark to qualify as a "true gamer". About as as stupid as the "true fan" nonsense.

Exactly. I can't say a game is stupid unless I've actually played it and don't like it. But even then, just because I don't like it doesn't make it stupid.

My brother is in his 30's and he's just a jerk Lol
